Other her name on the door, I'm not really sure what Paula's "involvement" will be with this casino. She said that it will look like her house and, I suppose, serve her own or similar recipes, but other than that I doubt she's stressing too much about it.

Roberto: The hand that is this blog is not really 'feeding me' :-) At least not yet. I know where you're coming from, though. I appreciate hearing all sides of the argument and if I knew of wrongdoing on anyone's part--including FN stars--I wouldn't hesitate to post or talk about it.

I personally don't know enough about the Smithfield debacle to take one side or the other. I will try and educate myself and then post about it.jacobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05642572096409144868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30368617.post-11299778118686997852007-10-25T17:45:00.000-04:002007-10-25T17:45:00.000-04:00As the owner of the blog I take all of your commen...As the owner of the blog I take all of your comments as tongue in cheek because you're not about to "bite the hand that feeds you" as far as using your own self-named blog, an addiction with Food Network TV, to insult their chefs - heavens forfend! But I also appreciate that you allow us to leave comments which may not be so conciliatory - that being said - I have big problems with Paula Deen, having struggled through a divorce and agoraphobia, now becoming a star - and siding with Smithfield Farms which does so much environmental damage (in how they mass raise the pigs) and union busting - shame Paula - what happened to your heart? She and her sons were on Larry King a couple of months ago and firmly stated that they did not want to or have any intentions of expanding. Time wise, they were in negotations with Harrah's. Paula has always stated that the greatest joy is being a grandmother, but on her party show she stated that she is too busy to be a grandmother. She and her sons have always advocated the importance of spending time and sharing a meal with your family, yet they chose to expand in a cassino! Expanding can be a good thing, but in Paula case, our we seeing the beginning of the end?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30368617.post-8327242030499788312007-10-25T09:15:00.000-04:002007-10-25T09:15:00.000-04:00Stars should definitely pursue every avenue. I'm the least judgmental person when it comes to FN people (or anyone on TV) lending their names to products or services. That doesn't mean I can't chide it a bit when it's funny or somewhat D-list (Florence Henderson on a swimg selling denture adhesive).

There are some people who would say that Paula Deen choosing to open an all-you-can-eat buffet in a region known for having the worst obesity problem in the U.S. would be unethical. I, however, am a little more rational. So 3 cheers for selling your goods, FN stars!jacobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05642572096409144868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30368617.post-44583942535684380402007-10-25T07:14:00.000-04:002007-10-25T07:14:00.000-04:00In your estimation, what exactly should be her goa...In your estimation, what exactly should be her goal, if not to earn money? You have to, "strike while the iron is the hot" as the saying goes. While many criticize Paula, Rachael, Emeril, etc for having things like their own line of cookware, wouldn't they be dumb to not try every profitable venture possible? Paula, like some other FN (and non) cooks has her line on QVC, including her own line of cakes, snacks and of course, her endorsement of Smithfield products (also available on QVC) and they sell like crazy. (hell, Michael Gruber even has his own coffee to pitch! You can see an ad for it every month in Paula's magazine).

What would be dumb would be to sit back and not pursue any other avenues of revenue other than your FN show when you know people are clamoring to get more of you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
