Paula Deen Donates Food, Gets No Christmas Love in Return

Paula Deen's involvement with Smithfield Foods (and subsequent refusal to give up the endorsement deal) has definitely tarnished her image a bit. Thankfully, no one can say anything bad about the great work Paula and Smithfield have been doing to feed hungry families.

For the second time in less than a year, Smithfield Foods and celebrity cook Paula Deen came to the assistance of America's Second Harvest in Deen's hometown of Savannah with a delivery of 25,000 pounds of meat as part of their Helping Hungry Homes(TM) initiative. The donation equates to 100,000 servings of much-needed protein for hungry families

Paula spoke to Fox News' Hannity & Colmes about the donation. Sadly, when asked if they were "ready for Christmas," Paula got no response!

DEEN: Are you guys ready for Christmas?

HANNITY: Thank you for helping all these great people out. We love you. You know that. God bless you.

DEEN: Sean, it just gives me the warmest feeling to be able to do like — like we did today.

HANNITY: Yes. You're a great American.

Oh well, Paula. I'm ready for Christmas, in case she was wondering. I'm not ready for the snow and ice storms that await in ILL-inois, though:-(

  2. She and her family make a BIG PUBLIC PRODUCTION of anything " charitable " that they participate in . They don't give away any of their great fortune just corporate funds and products.
Smithfield Donations = Good Publicity for the Deen Horde
Anyone want to buy a Paula Deen Cookbook for Paula to autograph ?

  6. You all are right. What's the deal with her hair? I long for the old Paula. She's become loud and abrasive. Did she have more work done on her face?

  7. I don't know much about Paula's sea captain husband--is he a lunatic ("crazy-ass")?

  8. I didn't hear about the subsequent refusal to give up the endorsement deal - What't the deal behind that? do you have that info somewhere on your site Jacob?
    Thanks!

  9. Miss Paula sez of anti-Smithfield complaints ... " It ain't my agenda " ...

  10. I don't know if he's actually crazy, or actually a sea captain, but it seems like a solid bet to call him both.

By the way, if you scroll this page so that the top just covers Rachael Ray's ring and Paula's chin, Paula's neck looks like a poop hole.

  11. Anyone hear anything from Paula's sons Darryl and Darryl Jr. lately ?
Pretty quiet on that front for some time.

Capt. Hindgrinder is a captain of a boat. Probably a tug or shrimp boat. Definitely not a ship.

  13. Wow. No love for Paula here. Let's just focus on childishly insulting her and not the good that she (and a lot) of other Food Network celebs have done for charities/causes.

  15. She uses charity for big publicity . Every " charitable " move she makes is HIGHLY publicized .

  16. Anonymous 5:32pm asked if any news about Jamie and Bobby. They are working on a new cookbook coming out in the fall. Also, in a TV interview last month in Savannah, a small part of a secret project that Bobby is working on was spoke of. Looks like he might be getting his own show on food network.

  17. Ugh, re: Bobby getting his own show! Again FN picks among a very small pool of "talent." Get out there and find the next Alton or Tyler or whoever. And don't use a reality TV show to do it. This network is starved for programming and all they seem capable of doing to solve that is look within and give their viewers slight variations on what they already know.

  18. Y'all watch out ! Them folkses at FN gone be givin' Good Ol' Unca Bubba a show next ! Sho' Nuff Y"ALL ! YEEEEEEHAAAAAWWWW ! Y"ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Depending on where in IL you're heading, you might be okay. Chicago got hit solidly, and the west and nw burbs got it worse. Further south it all depends really. Safe travels, Jacob!

  20. How do you know that EVERYTHING the Deens do are are made public? You only know what they tell you. I bet there are plenty of charitable things they do that aren't publicized. And, I admit that I can't spell tonight.

  21. Paula's sea captain husband was captain of a small wood rotted shrimp boat.
Now, I'm sure he is the captain of a new 60' yacht.
    Does he ever talk?

  23. Hey MB ... Paula Deen is an attention seeking publicity whore ... Well-known fact if you live on planet Earth.

  24. You guys are such haters! I met Paula's husband and thought he was a great guy. He has a hilarious sense of humor. He hates being in front of the camera and makes fun of himself for looking so uncomfortable and "mute"! Also, he is a tugboat captain and they make a pretty substantial salary.

  25. Simply find Ms.Deen deliberately obnoxious and annoying . Not everyone in the USA has to be a follower of the " CULT OF DEEN " .

  26. She degrades herself with all of that sexualized behavior. It comes across as crude and somewhat grotesque. People laugh, but it's more like a laugh of social embarrassment. I find her much easier to take when she is NOT in front of a live audience. The live audience puts her in Super Crude Mode. It comes off like the classic behavior of the adult who was molested as a child--the attempt to gain attention by highly sexualized behavior inappropriate for the circumstances.

Sorry to sound so elitist, but there's a real Hicks With Money vibe with all of those Deens that is fairly unbecoming. The younger son seems sweet but way closeted. I shudder to think what it would be like to come out to such an overbearing southern conservative mother. Better to stay in the closet till you inherit, I guess.

  27. the day her lover, uh, i mean, brother, ssshhhhuuuudddddeerrrrrr,
    'bubba' gets his own show
is the day i channel elvis and blow a hole in my tv with a .38

  28. Good God, Anon 1:39. I'm not a fan of hers either, and she is loud and she's annoying and she's boorish, etc., but now you have her son a closeted homosexual and her a molestation victim? You have NO way of knowing that, and him being quiet and her being a crude old broad is not proof of either possibility. That's simply way over the line.

  29. I think if she truly had a conscience instead of a compulsion to cash the checks, she would do the same ten minute google search and read about Smithfield.

Donating Smithfield's money to the poor is great. It doesn't make it Paula's donation any more than her name on a ham means that she raised the pig. And it most certainly should NOT cleanse the conscience of either Paula or Smithfield.

  31. anon at 139 you are right on no matter what who ever else said

those ARE behaviors classified the way you explained.....

    been there

anyway....... hope bobby comes out some times and says HEY MAMA guess what y'all.... oh wait a minute
    mama already knows......

    ok

  32. The title of this post is misleading because Paula did not donate the food, she merely distributed for Smithfield.

  34. I Cannot believe what I am reading here. Most of you are being disgusting and downright hateful!!! Oh, Wait a minute, I think I know what is going on here. Paula was just a plain person with a problem. She figured out a way to OVERCOME her problem and make a foutune!!! She has helped everyone in her family to succeed (Not like anyone of you wouldn't do the very same thing) and has kept on doing what she loves and making money all the time. BTW - she is NOT the only one at FN who is advertising themselves. Every appearance they make, In the public's eye all the time and making more money.

With Paula, I have found her recipies more down to earth than some of the other people on FN. I have tried tons of her recipes and they were all successful, unlike some of the other chiefs on FN. When you try a recipe, it does NOT always come out the way it is supposed to be. I am an advanced cook but, I love to try others style of cooking. Paula's cookbooks are true to style and I rather like them.

If you folks writing all the negative, hateful comments about Paula Deen's family have nothing better to do, try cooking. It is a stress reliever!!!

Dont be a hater, she is NOT doing anything you all would not do if you were in her place!!!

  35. Don't be such an adoring Deen groupie that you are unfair to her detractors who are tired of her obnoxious behavior .

  36. What has Paula done for anyone who watches her show except to raise their cholesterol one stick of butter at a time. I wish someone would buy a bag of quick drying cement and plug that pie hole of hers to quiet the witches cackle.
