No Surprise: Rachael Ray is Rich!

There has been a lot of press lately on this Forbes list of the top-earning chefs that just came out. Guess what: people with nationally syndicated talk shows make a lot of money!

Rachael Ray came in as #1 with $18 million.
Despite not owning a single restaurant, Rachael was able to hit the top of the list thanks to her talk show, her Food Network shows, magazine, and high payin' endorsement deals.

The rest of the list:

Wolfgang Puck - $16 million
Gordon Ramsay - $7.5 million
Nobuyuki Matsuhisa - $5 million
Alain Ducasse - $5 million
Paula Deen - $4.5 million
Mario Batali - $3 million
Tom Colicchio - $2 million
Bobby Flay - $1.5 million
Anthony Bourdain - $1.5 million

Preeeetyyy good. Food Network's Paula Deen, Mario Batali & Bobby Flay also made the cut, though no one (not even Rach) is coming close to everyone's favorite TV judge Judge Judy, who's worth an estimated $95 million!!!!

Time to get a courtroom show, Rachael!

  2. Rachael Ray makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a spatula. Hopefully, she's peaking now and she'll be on the downslide soon. Usually, once someone is at the "top", people lose interest and they become yesterday's news fast.

I'll just cross my fingers. She has enough money to go away and buy an island somewhere.

  3. LOL, I have visions of Paula Deen going up to Bobby Flay, and saying, "I can buy y'all." Good for Rachael on the moola -- just incredible, but the overexposure finally just got to me about 8 months ago, and she's fallen off my viewing schedule.

  4. I wonder if she was able to get Millstone to sign a pre-nup.

As much as I don't like RR, I hope weasel husband isn't in it for the dough.

  10. My guess Alejandro is that she is happy as she is clealy doing what she loves for a living. Does she get exhausted? Of course. Does she argue with her spouse? Pretty certain she does. We all do regardless of our success or career path. It's called life! Rachael has a very joyful outlook on life and it comes through to the television viewer. Those of us who happen to share Rach's outgoing personality just happen to enjoy her and congratulate her on her success. I don't understand the negativity on this site towards her. If people don't like her, don't watch her and don't discuss her. People that constantly diss her only do it too make themselves feel better about their own situation. It's like a sugar high; you feel good about talking trash, but the feeling only lasts so long. Then you remember how miserable of a person you are and how miserable your own life is. And it's not directed towards just you Alejandro but to others that post as well. Btw haters, Rachael is not boasting and throwing up to your faces what she has earned. It's on the Forbes list which she has no control over being published. It's really nobody's business what she earned anyway. I'm proud to say I helped her by supporting her though. On a side note, Judge Judy is my girl and can't nobody touch her she is awesome she can read people like a book!

  12. Bobby Flay needs a new agent. He's on EVERY OTHER SHOW. Do you think he's worth less because some of his restaurants aren't paid off? Is that a stupid question?

  13. It does seem like there are other chefs that should be on this list. What about Emeril. Paula Deen. She has the shows, restaurants, books, Smithfield Endorsement etc. Seems like they would have a higher income. I would like to see if I could live off this kind of income. It would be hard, but I sure would give it my best.

  15. Sounds like Charles lives a full and rewarding life with Judge Judy.

  16. Charles - just go away. Why are you blogging anyway!!!

  17. Hello...Rachael Ray and Paula Deen are NOT CHEFS. Shame on Forbes for lumping all these folks together!

  18. Where's Emeril? Surely, he's got to be up there.

  19. To anonymous's post @ 12:26pm, just so you know, I'm not going anywhere. Here to stay. Unless Jacob gets rid of me, that is. LOL Besides, why are YOU blogging? Why do you even exist? Your dead to me.

  20. WOW Charles I'm sorry I offended you regarding Rachael. I would never wish someone dead over blogging. Now that really scares me. This site is for fun not evil. It's cooking shows. You are missing the whole point here.

  22. Her photo on a box of chicken broth is TOO MUCH for me!!!

  23. Yep now chicken broth. The olive oil really scares me. Does anyone really believe she came up with the recipe for chicken broth!!!! Olive oil is such a process to make and just grow the olives. Do you think she has her own trees and is there tasting, etc. I agree these cooks should have their own products. BUT on products they really work on in testing labs, etc. I would never buy her chix broth and especially olive oil. Both are a really important ingredient in cooking. OH MY!!!

  24. I used to hate Rachael, but not anymore. My hatred for the ultra prissy Giardia has taken over.

I'm glad Rachael kicked her butt in Iron Chef.

  25. To anonymous post @ 3:52, you need to read and comprehend my comments. I didn't wish you dead or want you dead. It simply means you are dead to me! Another blogger, your family, etc...you can still mean something to them. I would never wish someone dead and I do agree it is only a cooking blog. Aaaaaaaaannd, (as only Giada can say it), I love seeing Rach on everything, down to the stock in a box. I use it all the time now and it's fierce in tatse. I do have to say though I stopped purchasing her evoo as it was quite pricey for a small bottle of it compared to DeCecco that my girl Lidia uses on her PBS show.

  26. Well now surely Aunt Sandy pulls in 50 million easily! Ok, 5 million. Alright then, 500,000. 50,000? Does she owe FN 50,000 a year for the exposure?

  27. I wonder what Forbes definition of "chef" is.

  28. Hey greg you are right about Aunt Sandy. I wonder why she isn't on the list. Her X was worth MILLIONS.
