Bob Tuschman's blog "Bob's Blog" is already turning into quite a valuable resource for Food Network fans. A bunch of questions (and complaints) were posted and Bob has already tackled several of them with honest, straightforward responses.
But it's Bob's somewhat self-deprecating openness, present since his first blog post for The Next Food Network Star (he referred to needing his makeup caked on, while both Bobby and Susie were "movie star handsome" and barely needed any), that's proving to me his blog isn't going to be just some corporate marketing piece disguised as a Web 2.0 tool. Not a lot of SVPs would admit to crying, "streaming tears... on a Monday morning" on their "work" blogs.
And even though I've already answered many of these questions here on my own blog, people keep asking 'em! Here are the answers directly from Bob:
Why Robert Irvine was let go and if he's coming back:
"[W]e’ve worked hard to earn the trust of our viewers, and we had to address what appeared to be intentionally misleading statements Robert made about his culinary credentials. We did say we would reconsider Robert’s involvement with the network down the line. At this time, we’ve simply not made a decision about the future."
Why they don't show cooking shows at night:
"[There's] a sizeable majority... that prefers our evening programming to be more story driven and entertaining than straight instructional."
If Ask Aida was really the show Adam pitched in NFNS4:
"We had this interactive cooking show in development for more than six months before we even met Adam."
BOB really needs to get rid of that AWFUL new website. The only good thing about it is the color RED!!!! I refuse to go on it anymore and I haven't. Don't care.
ReplyDeleteAt this time, we’ve simply not made a decision about the future.
ReplyDeleteGood, because they need to bring Irvine back for Dinner Impossible even if nothing else. Michael Symon is simply horrible. Someone with no personality can do fine on Iron Chef, but DI requires its host to be interesting.
On Robert Irvine's blog-he said he was returning to television with a new show.
ReplyDeleteWill have to wait for what the show is and where it is.
He said he would keep all informed.
Wonder where he gets his information ? Everyone I talk with want some instructional at night, it wasn't the majority that was watching when the network begin and kept it on the air, it was us long time viewers and we seem to be the ones asking for an hour each evening, guess we can always watch another network that probably will have instructional shows in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteThe Tusch is hitting the sauce way too hard with Sandra Lee or somebody ... because he's gone way past delusional ... and now he's got a one-way ticket to Looneyville ...
ReplyDeleteThe new website needs to be dumped in the Marianna Trench never to be heard from again ... It's horrible and the ads & crap slow down the loading time to a snail's pace ...
Bring back Robert Irvine for Dinner: Impossible ... So what if he fudged on his resume ... Almost everybody has done that at one point in their life ... Michael Symon sucks with his whole "grease monkey" persona ... He's just NOT believable ... And geez, find the guy a razor to get rid of that piece of carpet that's stuck on his face ...
The ep where he cooked the KOSHER Seder supper was an embarrassment as insulted the people with his unending desire to use dairy ... When he ripped open his shirt & showed off his pig tat on his chest was an incredibly stupid & insulting thing to do ... That was the final straw for me ... Robert would've explained the whole idea behind cooking Kosher and would NEVER have insulted the people there ...
I want a variety of shows on at night ... They're already showing a lot of those same shows during the afternoon ... Stop giving Rachael & Guy show after show ad nauseum ...
The Tusch and Fogle should both resign in disgrace ... never to be heard from again ... for how they've ruined the network and made it a mockery around the world ...
I agree with IBCHEFT. I used to plan around FN. I know. Get a life. Now If I'm home sometimes I watch but don't care like I used to. They really need to get rid of the back to back RR episodes and use one of the time slots for shows us working people don't get to see. Come on. Can't we over expose someone else for awhile. I want more Tyler, Bobby, Ina, and Giada. Those are my faves.
ReplyDeleteWas it mentioned already that Bob endorsed this site in his latest post?
ReplyDeleteI really like Mike Symon on ICA and don't mind him on DI, but I liked Irvine on DI much better.
ReplyDeleteNice mention of your blog on Tusch's. Good to know he can appreciate your unique view.
ReplyDeleteBob has seen how self-deprecation work$. Just look at Martha Stewart and her daughter's new tv show, "Whatever Martha" that skewers Martha. Next Jacob will be doing a Mystery Science Theatre thingy for FN.
ReplyDeleteWow, congrats on the shoutout from Tuschie.
