"We have had a great initial response to the first test issue, and feel confident that this magazine will resonate with consumers," said Alec Casey, VP and group consumer marketing director for Hearst.
"As a result, we greenlighted six issues (including the second test) for 2009. At Hearst, we are always looking at how we can introduce new products that fill a need in the marketplace, and we think Food Network Magazine fits that bill."
In other words, when the teen market fails, move on to food! (Is that kind of like the publishing equivalent to emotional eating?)

I liked the new mag enough to subscribe...there were some good recipes in there. :)
ReplyDeleteOff topic but is anyone else's TV descriptions of the Food Network programs all of a sudden generic? All mine says is a generic descritption of the show and nothing on the episode so I have no idea what they are making and if I want to watch.
ReplyDeleteI am freaking out and want to know if it's my cable company (Comcast) or FN doing this.
Thanks for your feedback
U-Verse has the same problem.
ReplyDeleteI got a copy of the FN mag at Chelsea After Dark. I think it's pretty good - am hoping for more interaction from the reading audience - I thought the Chairman's Challenge recipe contest was an excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteEnough with the greed Hearst. We don't need another magazine for food, especially if you don't have any background in this area of expertise.
ReplyDeleteDoes U-verse have Comcast?
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else getting episode descriptions?
My Comcast cable in CT is also now generic. I need to know if I want to watch!
ReplyDeleteComcast customer- we need to call and complain if this is their fault. If someone would just let me know they ARE getting the Episode description I will know for sure.
ReplyDeleteI am on hold with Comcast right now. Damn shame it takes a year to talk to anyone.
ReplyDeletePlease report this problem too OK?
All you cable customers getting ripped by Comcast and others need to get yourselves a pirate dish where all the stations are free annd cost nothing.Yeah they zap you every 6 months or so, but you can get rebooted in a few hours.
ReplyDeleteAnd you get 12 porn stations.
I can't even watch any porn any longer.
I suspect the food network wants us to go the their site for the information.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to skip all those automatic play videos and go directly to the schedule here's the link.

I don't think so. All these years we've had a show descritption. It only hurts the viewership to not have a tease.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking it's the cable being lazy.
HEY IT'S FIXED ALREADY. AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteHow about you CT? If not call Comcast.
Guess I'm the only one who was underwhelmed by the mag...
