Was this uploaded by mistake? Aida Mollenkamp stutters, starts over a few times, and generally seems unsettled in this new video on Food Network's YouTube page:
"And, yes, Michelle there is. So margarine is actually a, you know, a ehhh vegetable product. So, yes, Michelle there is..."
I wonder when this was filmed -- she looks different here. Obviously she thought she was going to get edited -- thus the various re-starts -- but I guess no one told her they were going for a one-take shot. She still seems uncomfortable on her show, so it's not surprising that she would be uncomfortable here. I've watched her show a few times and while I like her fine, the gimmick of the show is pretty annoying -- I don't want to SEE the viewers so damn much. Kill all those dumb video segments. Just take their questions, and for the love of GOD get rid of that co-host. He'll make you want to shoot your TV.
Her show is far from my favorite but I still DVR it when she's making something that sounds interesting. Her food looks good and she's adorable. Her show seems to be geared towards a 20-something audience who are novice cooks and I think it's cool that the FN is trying to reach out to that demographic..though I'm 23 and enjoy just about every FN star sans Sandra Lee. I agree that she needs to lose her sidekick and just take questions rather than doing the video segments and phone calls.
Chances are, she's not getting paid for *this* work.
Hollywood and TV studios are still wrangling with the issue of Internet-based content. There are a number of cable channels that view Internet-broadcast stuff as promotional stuff, and thus the stars, producers, and staff (as per their contracts) are obligated to do it.
If I were the editor, I know I'd be spending time on what I get paid to do, not this unpaid drek.
Obviously for some people just the fact that a show is NEW means it's not good. I would bet that most of the people who trash FN and its new shows don't even watch them.
Aida is very very very cute and her show is fine, especially considering it actually features information and cooking. There are much worse things to complain about on that network. Oh, and she is also adorable.
This video: the execution might not be great, but the concept is idiotic. A 4:46 headshot talking about cooking with no shots of food? I think this ended up on there by mistake...
You make a good point. This is probably meant to be broken up with inserts of the food being made. Only someone forgot to edit the two together and just left this there.
Sarah Palin?

ReplyDeleteFeels like she just had a hectic day. I still love her (and have days where I start over a few times as well). ;)
ReplyDeletea waste of space and air time
ReplyDeletebut
what else is new with the FN????
Her show and Sunny's show back to back. No thanks! I skip that hour and come back for Giada and Ina.
ReplyDeleteThey have no budget to start over!! LOL
ReplyDeleteSo where did this chick come from? He is a cutie but she kind a sucks as a FN star...
Her skill to adorable ratio isn't gonna set any records, but I like watching her.
ReplyDeleteSuch a BAD show FN just isn't getting it.

ReplyDeleteI think this is a rehearsal that they filmed.

ReplyDeleteAida, ME LIKEY!!!
ReplyDeleteGood show also.
Horrible show!! I can't believe people actually want advice from this woman.
ReplyDeleteNow remember Sara Live? Sara Moulton is someone whose brain I'd like to pick because there is actually something of use in there!!
She may be attractive, but she has NO screen presence. Her show is TERRIBLE.
ReplyDeletethe video has been removed :(
