To all the people who love to complain about hair getting into the faces of Food Network stars, please have a look:
I'm so tired of this complaint, btw. It's a TV cooking show, not a live news report inside a soup kitchen.
Now in the case of the not-coming-back 2 Dudes Catering--a show in which actual customers would be eating the actual food you see prepared--yes, a fancy hairnet would have been appropriate.
Until then, you keep those gorgeous locks long and flowing, Giada! Oh, and if Alton ever grows his out too, I'll give him the go-ahead to go sans-net.
I've always thought that the staff at Charm City Cakes should wear hair nets until the cake is covered with fondant.

ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right - when 'Nets are needed, sure - use them. HOWEVER, most FN personalities aren't working on a "reality" show serving customers (except as Roopa said above). It's a TV taping.
Somehow I can't picture Iron Chefs wearing hair nets tho...
I'm less concerned about the hair than some other bad habits they teach, like cutting raw meat/fish on a cutting board and not cleaning or their hands before they go on to the next chopping activity.

ReplyDeleteSorry that this is a tired complaint, but I think it's valid. We don't have to eat the food they cook, but all that hair swinging around just adds to the amateurish nature of some of the shows. Anyone who has worked in a kitchen or has any professional cooking experience cannot take all that hair swinging around seriously. C'mon!
