OH NO! Sandra Lee Benefit Cooking Demo Canceled

This is horrible!

A cooking demonstration in Charleston, WV featuring Sandra Lee scheduled for today has been canceled due to poor ticket sales. Even worse, it was a benefit for the West Virginia University Children's Hospital!

Sandra's Thursday show in Wheeling, WV was also canceled for the same reason.

Luckily, her Saturday show in Morgantown is still a go!
"It will not be canceled," said Tina Eanes, staff assistant at WVU Children's Hospital. "We had lots of phone calls and interest, but not many sales. I think it's just a bad time."

Perhaps it was the $100 ticket price and failing economy that stopped people from coming. [Charleston Gazette]

  1. I don't know if its bad timing. I just think its kind OVER for her. I have a cousin who lives in Wheeling, W.VA and they are really into great food and cooking. All her friends get together cooking, etc. They would NEVER cook anything from Aunt Sandy.

  2. I would just rather give the $100 to the children, rather than have to suffer thru spending anytime watching her take stuff out of a box and throw it in a pan. She over priced herself, she is not worth $100.

  3. wow..it is a benefit and the show should go on. If she was going to donate her time and (limited) talent it should not matter if it is for 10 or 1000 people.

  4. Why did they wait until the day of the event to cancel. Shirley they knew some days ago about the poor ticket sales. Let me think, Aunt Sandy and Childerns Hospital. Could it have something to do with Cocktail Time. I'm guessing they did not want her around childern boozing it up. Not to mention sick kids need nutrition and not sodium packed season packets. Just curious as to why they waited until the last minute.

  5. Its not the bad economy, its a bad choice.

I live 15 minutes from Charleston, didn't even consider going; however, I would have easily paid double for an Alton Brown demo.

    And don't call me Shirley.

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

  7. I think in today economy that everyone is being very conservative as to what and where they spend there money. It's too bad as the Children's Hospital could really have benefited from this.

  8. At least with Aunt Sandy you will see her actually demonstrating the 'cooking'. With Pauler Deen, someone else cooks the dishes while she relates tales of pooping in the driveway and playing hide the sausage, etc.

Which would you rather pay that kind of money to see?

  9. Anon 12:41, I'd take Paula relating tales of whoredom over watching her cook that vile food of hers any day.

  10. I tried an Aunt Sandy meal once and it was horrible. I wouldn't pay $100 to see her!! And I wouldn't call what she does on her show cooking... she opens a pre-packaged (something) and poof! it's a meal.

    On with cocktail time!! :-)

  11. I'm not a Sandra Lee fan but it amazes me that people who would slurp up any cream of whatever soup , mayo and ton of cheese & butter recipe complain about Ms. Lee's cooking ... And those same Paula groupies would pay for tickets that are so expensive that you have to mortgage the house for to here her put on a trashy loud show that's based on her sex life and varied bodily functions . All accompanied by loud cackling and screeching Y'ALLs every third syllable ! Go figure...

  13. Paula Deen crapped in her driveway?

How's that ? She be drunk and disoriented and freckled her underpants type of pooping in driveway, or a full on mudslide ?

You can dress em up, but you can't take em out.hehe

  14. I think the tickets are well worth the $100 because just think of all the time and money saving tips you will pick up from this talented woman.

Yeah,I'd just give the money straight to the kids too. But she shouldn't have cancelled at the last minute no matter how few tickets were sold.

  17. Why don't u anonymooses stop slammin' Paula already?! Damn tired azz comments. The article is about Sandra Lee! Heelllooo!? And hell yeah $100, although for a worthy cause, is not in most peoples' budget. Let alone for Aunt Sandy. I mean, bless her heart but she makes the most unappealing dishes on FN.

  18. Charlie put a sock in it please ... I was merely making a comparison between PD's cream of something cheese butter recipes and Sandra Lee's . And,that I thought that it was a shame that people would spend a fortune to hear PD talk trash and sex but they wouldn't pay for a Sandra Lee ticket supporting charity ... Jeez !

  19. First of all anon, who are you to judge what people spend their money to go see? This is a diverse world we live in and Aunt Sandy doesn't appeal to all of us, whether it's for a good charity or not. I can donate to charity and still spend my money on how I see fit. Why is that a "shame"? The shame is that so many of you on this site are so damn judgemental and just plain ignorant. So put that in your ziplock and freeze it!

  38. I'm from WV originally and most of my family is still there. Most West Virginians are proud of their made-from-scratch home cooking. Maybe Sandra could't sell tickets is because Mountaineers aren't foolish enough to pay $100 to watch Sandra make Hamburger Helper and Kraft Mac and Cheese.
