Nathan Lyon Roars
Commenter Pat has really given me some good tips! I always appreciate the comments and any FN-related news you all find out.
You may remember Nathan Lyon from The Next Food Network Star.
He didn't win, but it's no surprise that another network picked him up for a show. Check out his Discovery Health show, Lyon in the Kitchen, Thursdays at 10 Eastern.
That works out well, because it's right before Ace of Cakes and I think I'll be fine missing Bobby Flay's THROWDOWN about cheesecake.
I did watch some of TNFNS when Nathan was a contestant and remember he was criticized for his somewhat-manic energy. Didn't make the viewer feel all that comfortable. And he threw in some highly-culinary words which we know is a no-no nowadays on food television. Flambe is about all we can handle.
It doesn't hurt that the Arlington, Va.-native is an attractive guy who's in shape. His bald head and big smile combined with his knowledge of fresh ingredients will hopefully make for a hit show.
HOWEVER, just for fun, I thought I'd see what Nathan would look like if he weren't bald. Through the magic of photo-imaging and age progression software (a.k.a. Photoshop), I present to you-- Nathan with a bowl cut:
Haha...whaddya think? Okay, it's actually just his childhood haircut, but it looks great nonetheless.
His show's Web site has lots of info about the show and Nathan himself. Also, there's some great photos along with a slightly overdone "lion" theme throughout.
Here's pics of Nathan "as a cub"
Ummm... there is something so wonderful about that dual image on the left, but the image on the right is great too.
You have the serious/smile with turtleneck going on on the left and the barefoot/soccer/leather gang on the right. I don't know if they're going to beat me up or just wanna trade pics of David Beckham.
And that is a wonderful thing. Happy Wednesday=)
PS- DC must be proud of the Lyon. He did a Q&A with the Washington Post recently. Hopefully they spelled his name right.

Actually, it's A Lion In The Kitchen, actually. Keep up the great posts, FNA. Love them always!
The guy with the soccer ball, is that a skull on his crotch? ROFL!
anon: thanks for the tip!
luna: i do believe you're right! there must be some poison in those jeans. :-)
nice pick up on the nathan lyon!!! those pics are so hot, too. i love my dual image baby picture from 1980. i definitely won't have a kid until those are back.
Happy to help! :-) Those photos of Nathan and your captions are great!
I have to say, even tho it's only been a couple of episodes, I'm impressed with his show so far. It's produced really well, he's clearly got great chef skills, and it's nearly real-time -- e.g., no smooth jazz interludes while he chops an onion -- so like RayRay he's got to keep the talk flowing, which he does admirably.
I'm sure he'll get even better as the series goes on (he's gotta get rid of the thumb-to-forefinger gesture), but he's off to a really good start.
And if nothing else, he's a whole lot better than that Devon Alexander show following his. WTF? That show's just got "amateur" written all over it.
No, it REALLY is
"A Lyon in the Kitchen", so you "corrected" something that was right into something wrong, jackass.
Umm... I don't know what you're talking about. Nothing's been "corrected," jackass.
Nathan is HOT..and has a great personality. What a smile...
He can cook his yummy organic food for me anyday!
wow Mr Nathan Lyon your the coolest person and i love your cooking and what you do your my hero and keep on cooking just do it for fun nothing else for fun because i love cooking to and i do it for fun and keep on cooking
I would like for Nathan and the other chef to stop touching the food so much with they hands. I seen Nathan double dip with a spoon while tasting something...nasty. The one that I hate the most is when they need lemon juice and use their hand....nasty. If you really look the don't wash hand after touching the meat. They touch different things in the kitchen and then wash their hands. I could never eat anything he and the other cook.
where is Nathan's show now? It' not on discovery fit& I miss it.
Ann
