Meet Your Next Food Network Star Contestants Part II
I'm a little yawn-ful over the next two contestants I previewed.

But he goes by, get this, JAG.
Yeah! JAG! Just sounds so appetizing, don't it?
Footnotes:

2. Chef de Cuisine? Food Network doesn't like these fancy titles. How about "cooker of food."
JAG is energized and seems to be good in front of the camera in his short clip. He'd probably be good buddies with Guy Fieri, so perhaps they should just give him the show now.
He said something that bugged me, though. It was like, "the only things you need to make good food are: salt, pepper, amor y fantasia" but he pronounced 'fantasia" like the Disney movie (or for you born more recently, the American Idol winner) and not how you would in Spanish.
BTW, JAG: it's fantasía! fahn-ta-SEE-ah.
Amy:
Amy gets my green ribbon for good effort, but I fear she'll be one of the first ones off the show. Just based on her short clip, she rambled off too many French words and spoke about cooking techniques that I just don't see making it to a show anytime soon.
As we saw above, Food Network's got enough problems with English trying to be pronounced and it can't have any additional French words thrown into the mix.
It's perfectly admirable that Amy is classically trained and, obviously, a talented chef. Sadly, neither one of those will guarantee her the top spot.

Very funny recap.
I think Amy is one of the two you could vote on back in December to decide who would be the final finalist--the other one, Colombe or something like that, made it as well, which perplexes me.
Maybe there's a big twist with whichever of them got the least votes being eliminated in the first ten minutes of the first episode.
I like that Amy's choice of shirts in the second pic matches the lemon background of the shoot.
The MySpace pages though are creeping me out. The contestants are posting on each other's walls. It looks like JAG and fabulous Paul are good buddies.
JAG was my brother's favorite syndicated show ever. gotta love that james brolin. do a hollywood side by side with amy and kim delaney (from NYPD blue and CSI miami). amy looks just like her in these stills.

vote for Amy! I rarely watch 'reality' tv, or contest type shows, but as I love the food network and happen to catch the first episode of 'The Next Food network Star' I got hooked. The food network really lucked out when JAG ended up dropping out, he was a disaster waiting to happen. He bugged me from the first show. I actually yelled at the TV when he was chosen as a finalist over Amy. I can't tell you how much I hope Amy wins! I am sorry Rory's pitch doesn't catch me at all....too busy to go to a restaurant...give me a break. On the hand I would look forward to Amy's show. I would hope with a little guidance from marketing and 'the experts' at food network she could really blossom and help all us moms. She could really play to a untapped audience at food network. An actual, current day, mom. With the right input she could show that food can be fancy and fun, without being hard...and families (even kids) can and should eat more than mac and cheese and all the other family style stand bys. I get tired of cooking the same old things for my family and am sure others do too. Sure Rachel Ray does 30 minute meals and Sandra Lee does semi-homemade, but sorry, it just means more when the tips come from an actual mom, kwim? If you think about it, not one of food network's major stars has young children (or if they do, they certainly don't incorporate that into their dialoge). Keeping my fingers crossed for Amy! If you haven't voted...go vote, it closes tomorrow am!
Yay! I’m so glad Amy won. I never voted on anything like this in my life but I made of point of voting for Amy. I just couldn’t hack Rory’s perenniel, and therefore, inauthentic smile.
What I find interesting is that the selection committee is out of tune with what America wants. They actually voted Amy as #3! Oooops!
