Amy Finley Is Outside Your Door
Okay, she's not that close... but she's coming.
Season three's winner of The Next Food Network Star, Amy Finley, actually made out with a pretty good timeslot, Sundays at 12pm ET/PT (Giada's old weekend time!).
What? No cleavage? Evidently that's the only thing TV reviewers want to write about, so you better get on it, Ms. Finley! ;-)
I may cry a bit now that Dave Lieberman's take on inexpensive gourmet has been axed, but I'll give Amy a shot. I'll have to get my hair curled into ringlets just for the occasion.
Her show, The Gourmet Next Door, premieres Sun., Oct. 14.

“Amy’s infectious, easy going personality and approach to creating simple, impressive dishes will appeal to our food loving audience,” said Bob Tuschman, Senior Vice President, Programming for Food Network. “We couldn’t be happier with America’s choice as the new Food Network “Star” and we think Amy will fit in perfectly to our line-up.”

I'm looking forward to Amy's show. I voted for her, although I wasn't happy when it came down to her and Rory. I was quite content with the idea of a Jag/Amy final.
I'll miss Dave Lieberman. He comes across as very sweet, friendly, and he cooks a lot of stuff I would actually eat.
Will he be taken off entirely, even reruns?
October 14? Wow that is soon. They sure go from reality show to producing the winner's finished product pretty quickly!!
Well, at least we won't hear about her husband all the time like some other FN personalities.
I wonder if she will have some "cooking on the compound" spots. Kind of like this old commune, but with a French twist.
Yay Amy. I'm so glad that the FN's obvious Rory-slanted deck stacking didn't pay off.
I hate to say it, but I don't think Amy has that mysterious quality that makes you want to watch her. She's like toast -- you like it, you'll eat it, but do you count the moments till you can have it again? No.
I'm looking forward to more of a gourmet cook on FN. I can't take another burger, or other slop that has been turning up. I wonder if she'll get her snagle tooth fixed?
I actually find her and her tooth very sexy... but maybe that is just me.
How did you find out the premier date - I've been searching and couldn't find anything!
She's sort of cute. The snaggle tooth kinda kills it for her though.
tiklish: no, i think dave will be around for a while in reruns. They'll just keep getting earlier and earlier in the morning:-(
jesse: I know. But I guess they know how quickly one can be forgotten-- as evidenced by the fact that I don't remember the winner of American Idol.
anon: you're right... the hubby is aparently out. i'm not sure about the compound, but it sounds interesting.
jordan: yeah, i'm glad Rory is waitin' tables in Texas, instead.
harry: haha... toast. Nice analogy!
lee lee: yeah, gourmet has been somewhat ignored, so it's time to return to it. i'm not sure about the tooth.
anon: i got a handy press release about it:-)
I am really looking forward to her show - and I hope they don't try to "dumb it down" - bring on the French, bring on any other language - Christ this country is already so frigging ignorant it's positively scary. So she has a snaggle - titters - Rory had enough tits and teeth for all of Texas. Even if you have to cook things in stages Miss Finley - don't try to be another "30 minute French Fasty" - take your time and teach - they're are many adherents within your reach. Just my two pesos. Roberto desde Miami.
Good Lord. That's a much, much better time slot than Ellie Krieger has. Verily, there is no justice. Not at the Food Channel.
That is an awful pic of Amy, awful.
Thankfully, FN didn't give us another Guy and Mrs. Ed is back in Texas, where she belongs.
Where is it written/how do you know that Amy's husband is out of the picture? I didn't see him in the finale, but never heard they had split. Sad. . . I think that some of her appeal to voters was being married w/kids. sigh
I hope they film from the compound too. We'll see. I don't think there's anything wrong with her picture or teeth. It's obsessive to worry about it. She's real, and that's sort of refreshing. I give her a lot of credit for all the arguing she probably had to have with the network execs about having that photo taken with very little makeup. She's certainly trying to do this on her own terms.
Was she the gourmet next door or the backyard bistro? I can't keep those bitches straight.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but Amy bugs the hell out of me. Granted, one shouldn't have to be drop dead gorgeous to be on TV, but Amy's a bit hard to look at. She was catty and condescending on the NFNS show, and I was SO glad she left, even though there was not ONE person on that challenge that deserved to win - I agree with Alton - they should have sent them all home and started over. I will not watch Amy's show.
I agree with SkibbereenGal, I am never going to watch Amy's show. I also find her hard to look at. She also bugs the hell out of me. She was rude and snobbish during the competition. Alton was right on when he said they should send them all home and start over. Afterall Amy wanted to go home anyway before the end of the competition.
Amy was OK for her first show I liked it. She has a very nice smile and a lot of expression.
In the long run none of it matters. They have all had their fifteen minutes of fame...here today, gone tomorrow!!!
Amy's show could have been so much better, but she was working against FoodNetwork's nonsupport. They barely gave her a set. I'm sad the show is gone. I won't be watching the next edition of food network star.
