Earth to Sandra...Come In Sandra

Sandra Lee may be celebrating her 200th episode on Food Network this coming Saturday, but it appears the old pro still needs a little help getting through a show...

... as evidenced by this picture of what appears to be a wireless in-ear IFB device of some sort.

IFBs are typically used by newscasters or other live TV hosts to receive audio cues from a producer or director. Musicians also use them in place of traditional floor monitors to hear themselves while performing onstage.

But in Sandra's case, what kind of cues does she need?!?!

Here's what I imagine happens on set:

Sandra: This mochawhippitini is sooooo delicious and so easy to make.

Producer (what Sandra hears in her ear): Okay, Sandy, go get the Cool Whip out of the fridge... no that's the oven, Sandra. Refrigerator. Quick -- make a joke about that!

Sandra: Oh my, I went to the oven! My nephew Brycer once hid the whipped topping in the oven and I went INSANE looking for it.

Producer: Good job. Blame it on the kid. Okay, now open the Cool Whip and put some in that glass.

Sandra: Allllllll you need to do is add a little of this whipped topping to the rim of your martini glass and then pour in some coffee-flavored liquor and some coffee-flavored vodka.

Producer: Okay, good...good. Slow and steady. Wait... why are you drinking out of the bottle, Sandra? Sandra? Will you please stop that? All right... that's a cut. Hose her down, people! We gotta shoot Cocktail Time again!

A pretty accurate guess of what happens, no?

So Aunt Sandy has to wear an in-ear monitor just to get through her recipes. At least I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

Either that or she accidentally put a Sweet Tart in there and forgot.

This is hilarious. Very "mattislostintv-esque." What I find especially hilarious is the fact that she still has to do voiceovers after the tapings!

I've also seen Rachael Ray wear one of those in her earlier shows. I wondered what it was??? A hearing aid? Now I know :-)

I recall seeing a program which revealed secrets behind "Good Eats", and Alton Brown wears one of those to help him through his long monologues. If I recall correctly, some of them were pre-recorded and then he listens to the playback to remind him of what he's supposed to say.

LMAO! Probably your most hilarious post yet!
That, is, great!
I wonder if the person in her ear was calling her a dumb ass when she entered 150 on the microwave instead of 130 for a minute and a half...
Whatever the case, somebody needs to help to keep her sober while she's taping.
