The Next Food Network Star, Week 3
Wow... I really thought the other one in the bottom two would get kicked off!
I loved Martha Stewart's response when asked if she would watch a show hosted by Kelsey: "I don't know how long."
Yikes! Never one to sugarcoat, Martha really put a lot of them in their place this week. What did you think?!?!

Martha has no time to waste .. especially after her time in the slammer and so she's gonna tell you how it really is .... and she told America that Aaron is the next food sensation !!
Really starting to love Lisa Garza but that bacon wrapped potato that Aaron made just jumped out of the TV and had me salivating.
I love Martha. I've met her (went to one of her parties in CT) and she's a no-nonsense woman - some people might call her a bitch, I call her a woman who wants things done the right way and won't accept anything less than the best.
Kelsey IS annoying. So is Nipa, who I SO wanted to like. :(
Lisa Garza has the style of a woman from circa 1998 - the blunt haircut, too-thin eyebrows, and excessive blush (all of which were hot back then, but oh god not now), make me want to laugh at her, but they actually just make me feel bad for her because of her incredible cluelessness juxtaposed with her incredible attitude.
I wanted Jennifer (Jenny?) to go, not only because she's tragically boring, but because I could not get over her horrible matchy-matchy outfit.
The scarf or the blouse, Jennifer, muffin. We are adults. We do not need to wear Grranimals.
Martha is tougher than all 3 judges combined. Loved her honestly and she was spot on about Aaron and Lisa. Lisa was great last night, very endearing and real. Aaron seems to knock it out with great food with each challenge and his personality is improving. If he continues to show his personality, he'll be a star. Poor Kelsey, I hope the judges' honestly was a reality check for her and she becomes more real. She's got the talent. Fun show last night!
Poor Kelsey! To have a "everyday product" and have to pitch it to Martha, can you imagine? I believe the greater point was the difficulty of finding a product that is universally appealing to a wide-range of people. It's darn hard! I like her and I don't get where Suzie Q gets off being so rude and adamant in her assessment that Kelsey is fake. Anywho...different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
There still is not anyone that jumps out at me, not anyone I was rooting to win or to get booted. I do have a serious craving for some cheese & bacon fries, Adam is welcome to come over and fix some for me. :)
I think Shane's idea more flopped than soared, even the name of his product got slammed! Boy does he have some piercingly beautiful blue eyes! Per Jennifer, she reminds me a bit of Elisa Donnivan (sp?). Lisa--- did she get wind/sun burned? That's what it looked like, like she had on those huge over-sized glasses and got stuck outside too long (perhaps during a future NFNS stunt). She looked exhausted, I really felt sympathy for her.
As I was watching last night, I couldn't help being faced with the thought that all of the work, heart, and soul these guys are pouring into this is being boiled down to about 34.5 minutes (after commercials) a week. Wow! Would I hate to have my life edited down like that!
Eh--so, just, eh about this season. Not rooting for anyone to go, not rooting for anyone to stay/win.
I don't think Kelsey is fake. That's what scares me. She is really annoying and I could not watcj her on a show. She's cute but that alone will not cut it for me.
Shane and Nipa have to go. I like Aaron. And I liked Kevin last week and I love crostini. I could live on it.
I can't believe Adam survived last week. He should have went before Kevin. JMO.
I think Kelsey reminds me of someone who has been coached since childhood, maybe by an overly enmeshed stage mother. I wouldn't be surprised if she was into the whole beauty pageant thing as well. I think she comes across as very inauthentic, and over-the-top with her "smiley-happy" persona. I don't find her to be in the least bit engaging, or enjoyable to watch. very PHONY
I don't understand the criticisms against Kelsey. She comes across as a nice person who cares about cooking. I don't see her as fake or over-the-top or inauthentic. She's happy and bubbly, but no more so than Rachael Ray.
I recently stumbled upon this site - I love it!
My 2 cents: Kelsey is a bit over the top, yes, but remember when Rachael Ray started?...I couldn't even keep the volume on, but RR has toned it down since then, even if it is only slightly.
Secondly, it annoys me to no end to see Lisa aka Posh Spice Chef in those get ups. The heels really urk me, aside from being an obvious safety issue in a kitchen, they just show lack of professionalism in my opinion. She really needs to tone down the eye shadow as well. She clearly has some culinary skills & talent, but the persona she is portraying isn't working for me. She doesn't seem like a very approachable type of person. A little too into herself & her looks.
i don't see a darn thing wrong with kelsey. maybe this means i should not be watching this show....
Kelsey is every other star already on FN. Go Aaron, way to be different. I still am hanging on to Jennifer though... kinda hoping that her personality will break through at any minute now, but judges aren't gonna wait much longer...
Martha Stewart came across as a condescending, rude, tyranical, old, cold hag. EVERYONE in beneath her. Did I mention she looked really old?
If I was Kelsey, I woulda asked old Martha if the sloppy joe she was eating was better than the crap she ate in prison.
Kelsey can re-train herself to not be annoying by not wearing a headband ever again.
I said the exact same thing in my live play-by-play - I was certain Jen would et booted. She seems to have the personality of overcooked macaroni and is as easily remembered. Now Jeffrey? The guy may be a screw up in the kitchen and on the camera, but wet macaroni personality he ain't!
I do think Adam redeemed himself though. Pleasantly surprised because he's been getting on my nerves lately.
Lisa is Rachael Ray with fewer eyebrow hairs and more time roasting in the tanning bed.
Sloppy Joes have never appealed to me. Ever. And I love food. So Kelsey is already Dumbing It Down. She should fit right in.
Lisa has a blush-on-the-nose problem (it's actually airbrushed out in her profile photo), though she can cook. I just wish she learned from Giadas comment to Nikki last year that heels were not appropriate in the kitchen.
Kelsey is as annoying as Rachael Ray. I think it's genuine, however.
Nipa has the ongoing expression that she just passed a sewer vent. I wanted to like her because Indian food would be great to learn, but don't.
Adam is annoying.
Aaron has the most talent, and seems like a decent guy.
Of the winners from the past seasons, only Guy is still on Food Network.
I really hate this season. Last year's was better, and that's not saying much (remember Alton's "Can we send them all home?")
I'll probably still TiVo this, considering the lack of things to watch, but it's rather pathetic.
martha stewart is a nasty smelly cunt bag
martha stewart should eat shit and die
