FoodNetwork.com #1 in Category for the 28th Consecutive Month
Well, all the complaints about auto-play videos, slow-loading pages, hard-to-find TV schedule info, and the like aren't making any dents in FoodNetwork.com's traffic numbers. In fact, the website had 8.6 million unique users this past October--good enough to earn it the No. 1 position in Food & Cooking Websites, a spot it's held for 28 consecutive months. [Source]

After a mighty effort, Bob Tuschman's official blog on Food Network has closed. Debuting in September 2008, Bob's Blog will reportedly be merged into the FN Dish web presence. As of today, Bob has not posted.

So I thought I was the only one having trouble with the website?
Recently, I've found it so slow and difficult to load that I can barely use it anymore. Did Food Network do something to it?
I guess Bob was a little OPEN for the FN. Bring back Bob!
I was just on their website and had to leave it because it's so annoying. The traffic may be up, but how many people are hanging around. I know I don't use it near as much as I did before the change.
I agree I've been using it less, but it is still one of the first sites I turn to for recipes... sigh..

I agree. The new site is slow and unresponsive. Not able to search for recipes, in fact it is faster to google a recipe and then go to FN through their link. Still try and use their site to get the day listing of shows, but even that is slow. It was better before the new changes. Can't they afford a better IT staff???
As long as I'm on a newer, faster computer the site loads fine. When I use an old PC it's impossible. So it probably has more to do with what you're using. I've never looked for a TV schedule on there, but the recipes are easy to find and I like that you can instantly separate it by which cook created it.
Yes, I want Bob's blog back. He has good inside information. FN Dish seems like it's intended only to plug future shows than to be a real blog.
The site took me a little getting used to compared to the old site, but I got over it and now like it much better. The recipes mainly are better spaced out and easier to read, I had to print them out just to read them before because the type was so small on the old site.
I never used the recipe box before and now use it all the time, I like it. Anyone still not finding the stuff they are looking for, just look at the top navigation area LOL it's so simple, but I was looking past it at first.
FN Dish is piece of crap blog. FN propaganda garbage. I think I even read one bit that referred to Fee-Yetti as a "rock star chef"
No journalistic integrity as you can imagine. It is FN afterall.
I guess I have a super fast computer because I have no problem with the site. In terms of the new design. It is different, but I don't hate it. Sorry for you guys out there having a hard time.
The website is super annoying...i don't want to see a friggin video everytime i log on...I have a tv for that.

I wake up in the middle of the night screaming the phrase, "cause you wouldn't want to cruise by a joint that you didn't want to miss."
Are these people NUTS??!! That FN site has now become an absolute nightmare. I wrote a comment to them recently about their "new, upgraded" site. Well, you all know what happens to those comments - they somethow end up in cyberspace never to be seen or acknowledged again. I agree with the comment about "googling" for a recipe. Much quicker and easier. And to those of you having fast computers and not having too many problems - well, so do I. I just hate what they did to the site. Ugh. Jacob - don't change your site, o.k.? I log in at least twice a day just to see what's going on. Thanks for a great blog. You do a terrific job!! Kudos to you!

BTW, I figured out how the site works, I just hate it.
I work in web design enough to know that some people hate redesigns lol. If they had their way the web wouldn't have changed since 1998. I like the new site. It's cleaner than the cluttered old site by far.

I actually enjoyed Bob's insights, but figured it would get shut down before too long. If for no other reason than that he pledged such openness and responsiveness and unfortunately he didn't really seem to connect with the meat and potatoes of what was being said to him.
The FN website is useless to me. I'll go to the local newspaper's TV listings, I'll go to Wikipedia, I'll do Google searches of bio's or images or such, and I'll go to Serious Eats a few times a week, but I avoid FN's site. Our TV is on FN about 5 nights out of 7, but the website is horrendous.
Why won't they accept the fact that we have three digits in our IQs?
Bob's Blog says he will actually still post on FNDish instead of his own separate blog (if you read the fine print). ;)
I don't know what the hell you people are talking about. This web site issue is just one more thing for you to bitch about -- and that's what you do: bitch, bitch, BITCH. Unless you're using some piece of sh_t from the 2000 that can't handle loading a page with some graphics, then the site runs fine. I speed around that site often, opening multiple tabs. There are no issues with that site -- it is your computer. So please update what you're using and stop whining.
I guess we're not supposed to talk about Top Chef in here, but it wasn't a good night for the CIA -- the two people who went there (one was still IN school) got bounced on the first night.

*I had alot of problems with the FN website, but learned if I hit the "pause" button on the videos, the pages load ever so much more quickly. I wish they'd make the videos optional. I do like the recipe search features.
*Bob's blog. Totally disappointed that he dropped that. I think if you start a project, you should see it thru. Bob, it's called commitment! lol
*FN Dish. Hasn't been "dishy" lately; as others have commented, the recent posts are glorified FN commercials. Of course it's fun to see interviews with the show hosts, but I'd like them to be somehow less scripted, more spontaneous.
It'd also be interesting to see *how* the shows are made, the studio, editing room, more of the FN kitchen and staff, bloopers? How are recipes chosen, how are new shows developed ....
And I'd love to see a time lapse of a studio set change - transforming the FN studio from, say, Rachel's kitchen to kitchen stadium. They say it takes upwards of three days to get it all done.
I recently had a tour and was fascinated by a conversation we had with a carpenter who changes the sets. Really cool, and real behind-the-scenes stuff I think fans would dig.
Oh yeah. And instead of calling it FN dish, it should have been called The Side Dish. *snicker snicker*
Why can't we talk about Top Chef ?
Best show on TV when it comes to food. They actually use real chefs.

I think all the hits are from people curious about the new site. Trust me they don't stay and are probably everyone on this blog. It is really AWFUL!!!! I never go on anymore, or I have to want a recipe really bad.
Bob blog gone, oh well. I had hopes of learning behind the scene things from the man behind the scene. I didn't think it would work anyway. His cooking entry scared me.
I wasn't one of the visitors to their website. Not that they care.

Even if designers approve the site makeover, no professional designer would let the look overcome the usefulness.
For a food TV network to make it harder to access the TV schedule and the descriptions of the shows makes no sense on ANY level.
Top Chef rules. FN will never touch it. No way.
Wow, all our FN questions will be answered? The one I have for Tuschie is how did hell did all these talentless hacks get programs? h wait, possibly the same way he and Medusa got their jobs...
