Happy Birthday Duff!

It took awhile, but I really like The Ace of Cakes.

It's my favorite show set in Baltimore that doesn't feature a character named Poot.

Yay Duff!! Happy Birthday!

And a big thanks to you and all of your crew for consistently making me laugh and feel that the world is a little bit better of a place to be because there are cool people like you guys in it. :)

Is there something wrong with one of his eyes?
It looks like he has a fake eye.

The show is ok. It's funny that those people in school who acted like they all listened to the Cure or Ska and wore weird clothes, would have a successful cake business, while acting the very same way. Somewhere there is a father beating his head against the wall.

Having worked in the corporate world for 20 years, it doesn't surprise me at all that Duff and his friends are successful. I warmed up to the weirdness after 2-3 episodes, and now it's one of my favorite shows on TV. It proves that it is possible to be yourself, find your own niche, and not have the soul sucked out of you in a cubicle.

Happy Birthday, Duff!

He's Jewish?? I had no idea! I was trying to figure out if FN had any Jewish chefs for our Hanukkah edition of FN Crazy but without Sara Moulton a regular anymore, I thought FN was without. Interesting...although, as spectacular as his cakes may be, Duff can't really offer a lot in the line of other dishes for Hanukkah...

either way--Happy Birthday, Duff!

Duff's show is wonderful - says to anyone with doubts that you can do what you love and love what you do. He's an inspiration and a joy.

By the way,
Ina Garten is Jewish too.

You're an idiot. Duff's in a band (a lot of them are). He played Ice Hockey, Football, and Lacrosse. Mary Alice's brother is lead singer of Clutch - these people couldn't be farther from the image you're trying to create. Stop trying to label people and put them into boxes to make yourself feel better.

Bwaaaahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa.....

You must have been one of those people, too.

Please, they act like prima donna's who are too good for everyone else. Except Duff. He acts like a normal person, minus the eye and that strange cackle. If it wasn't for duff, they wojuld be working at the mall making fun of soccer moms.

I was the same way - it took a few episodes of AOC for me to become a fan.

I think the charm of the show is that
Duff is cool, he hired his really talented friends, they are hard working, and I love that cackle filled laugh.

That crew can make some great cakes.

Some of his cakes are simply great, and others are pretty amateur.

Half of the competitors on FN cake challenges outperform Goldman and crew. He just an average baker, that's it.

I can only recall a FEW cakes that really stood out. If I had to fork out a grand for some trivial nostalgic cake that was cute in appearance, I know I would regret it after it was eaten.

Sorry Duff, not everyone thinks you walk on water.

"Sorry Duff, not everyone thinks you walk on water."

Wow, it takes a real special kind of insecure douchebag to shit on someone in a happy birthday thread. Don't think Duff EVER said or thinks he "walks on water" - but with close to a million viewers a week, there's certainly an audience out there that finds him and the Charm City staff worth watching. In fact, I don't think I can think of ONE media venue (print, web, on tv) where anyone there thought they were the greatest thing ever - they're just a group of people enjoying what they do. Ace of Cakes isn't well received because the cakes are the be all end all - people like it because it shows a staff having fun and enjoying what they do.

Who cares if they are Jewish or not, why do all the Jewish people have to announce what religion they are?
That's why they all get mocked. What if I walked up to everyone and said, "I'm CATHOLIC, so I'm letting you know right off the bat that I'm special".

I've noticed that comment also.
Bernie Madoff is Jewish and you forgot to list his name along with Ina Garten in a previous post.

To Anonymous 9:30 AM:
I'm so glad you don't walk up to everyone and tell them that you're Catholic. You are an embarrassment.

At 12/29/2008 9:25 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Then why say do you have to say I'm Jewish, What a double embarrassment!!
Not to popular now days are ya!
Keep your religion to yourself and you have no problems.
I keep the Catholic part to myself because I don't want to be associated with the priest stigma.
DUH!

Hey Catholic, I remember Jews making fun of the Catholics problems.
Yeah, keep the Catholic thing to yourself. Dumba**

Next season on Ace of Cocks...The Biggest Looser. Duffy boy is an overweight, overego'ed, cocksucker. The Duffster will soon show up on "Celebrity Weightloss" as he balloons to over 300 lbs feasting on his creations or as Geof Manwhore dillegently feeds his master.
