Another Sign Food Net Might Need A Few More Asians on its Roster
If it just had a few Asian cooking shows, Food Network coulda just cast internally. ;-) I guess "delicious dim sum" isn't salary enough for most people.

Casting Call Information
City: San Francisco
State: CA
New competition show for Food Network is looking for Chinese extras for a segment in a dim sum restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown. All extras will be featured in the shot and will not just be in the general background of the restaurant. Our contestants will interact directly with the tables with these extras. You will be needed from around 11am-2pm on April 8 (Thursday). Speaking Chinese is a bonus. No extra will ever speak aloud in English. No pay but you will be fed delicious dim sum.

FN desperately needs an Asian cooking show. I have wanted to learn to cook Asian food for ages, but have no idea where to even begin because it is so far out of my personal experience.
This is kind of hilarious- "no extra will ever speak aloud in English." Why would you need to write that in the ad? Anyway- just wanted to let you know that Fancast has tons of Food Network content which might be helpful to some of your readers. Check it out- Fancast
Where can I sign up for dim sum? I like har gow, sui mei, chow fun.. Mmmmm.
Dim sum throwdown?
Boring...
You want Asian. Check out Ming Tsai (Blue Pepper) on PBS. Great guy, great recipes and he started a long time ago on FN. He was smart and went to a venue which showcases true talent and info to its audience. For laughs, maybe FN could ask the Neelys or Paula Deen to do a dim sum show. NOT!
^ You mean Blue Ginger, not Blue Pepper. I like Ming Tsai but I find some of his recipes to be too difficult or tedious for the average home cook.
Ming's the best! All the REAL FN chefs have ended up on PBS. I guess they're not entertaining enough for FN new "younger" viewers they're going for....

In case somebody is not very fluent in English...it might deter them if they knew they would have to speak in Engllish.
You have a strange definition of hilarious.
As a Chinese American I find this somewhat offensive--and I don't often get annoyed by this sort of thing.
So all these Chinese people cant speak English (even if they can) and can only NOT speak or speak in Chinese. Nothing like a bunch of slanted eyed exotic foreigners as good background dressing to a network that otherwise has NO Asian representation. Do we get to wear coolie hats too?

Definitely agree!!
I watch food network, but they have a serious diversity problem, both in chefs, behind the scenes, and in cuisines offered. I'm As-Am (not Chinese) and this ad is damn offensive. On top of seeking folks to depict a racial stereotype, the only pay is free snack food?
if it keeps them off the road and out from behind the wheel i am all for more of them on TV for sure.
Don't be so sure this isn't a ruse to set up another victim for Throwdown with Bobby Flay.
just don't let them drive anywhere.
pweese.
