Ace of Cakes Book Gets a Release Date... I think

The Ace of Cakes book that Duff Goldman told me about in our interview back in February of 2008 is finally coming out... I think!

According to Publishers Weekly, Ace of Cakes: Inside the World of Charm City Cakes is set for an October release. Finally!

Duff had originally said it would be out "in the fall," so I guess he was technically correct... just didn't realize it would be two falls away.

Will you get the Ace of Cakes book?

Who would really buy their book and even want to make one of these cakes. They are so unrealistic for the everyday person. And who even watches this show???????

Jacob...

Just curious - do you know who these people are who chronically come here just to make snarky comments?

Rick B: Nope! Oh well. Doesn't bother me.

C'mon Jake. You're a sock puppet for Herr Tuschman & Co. You have disguised it cleverly though. I'll give you that.

As for the snark, man if one TV station is deserving of any snark, FN is tops on the list.

I wouldn't buy this without a deep discount and without someone else trying the recipes first. In my experience, baking books by professional bakers have recipes that are never tested in real home kitchens -- and when the recipes are adapted for home cooks they often lose the distinctive qualities you liked in them in the first place. They should have gone for a coffee-table picture book rather than a cookbook. Besides, when have you seen them bake on the show anyway?

I might be prompted to buy it just as a fellow Bawlamoron. I'd definitely check it out of the library, though.

I will 10000% buy this. It would be amazing to see it all in paper. The pictures, recipes, instructions (I hope). I will definately buy it!
