Ina Delays Jeffrey's Retirement Again

We know Ina likes her good quality ingredients. You can't make a chocolate ganache cupcake with just any vanilla extract! Silly bumpkin... that's just disgusting in Ina's book. The same goes for good mayonnaise, good Dijon mustard, good olive oil and good heavy cream.

With the recent news of her husband, Jeffrey E. Garten, joining Montreal's Alcan Inc. as a Director, it appears that Ina will be able to keep purchasing good ingredients for years to come-- even if that means her beloved husband never gets to make it home except on Saturdays.

Anyone who watches Ina's show Barefoot Contessa knows about Jeffrey, Ina's workaholic hubby who loves everything Ina makes. And who wouldn't? Perhaps their marriage has worked so well all this time (they met when Ina was still in high school) due to the fact that they barely see each other. They do seem pretty cuddly whenever they get the chance to meet.

How Jeffrey, 60, squeezes all this in is beyond me. He is "on the boards of directors of the Aetna Corporation, CarMax, Credit Suisse Asset Management, The International Rescue Committee, The Conference Board, and the Lee Kwan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore. He is on the International Advisory Board of Toyota Motor Company and the advisory board of the Chicago Climate Exchange. He has been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations for the past 30years."

If that wasn't enough, he also worked for the Nixon and Clinton administrations!

All I want to know is: when will Jeffrey just get to take a nap?
