Fried Chicken and Mullet Dreams

Some very astute readers (nice, huh?) pointed out that the Deen family portrait I posted last Friday shows Jamie Deen rocking one of the 20th Century's most treasured hairdos, the Mullet!

Apparently money wasn't the only thing on this Deen boy's mind:-)

It's just something cheery for you on this sad, sad Monday (sorry Bears fans) until I announce something bigger a little later on today.

See yah!

Something else in that photo very much of its time is Paula's eye make-up: very Donna Mills ("The Eyes Have It")!

COOKING WITH PAULA DEEN RANKS #1 ON BARNES & NOBLE SALES RANKING REPORT

Deen’s Magazine- Just Over One Year in Publication -Tops the Sales Charts at the World’s Largest Bookseller

Birmingham, AL (February 6, 2007) -- Just over one year ago, the queen of down-home cooking joined with Birmingham-based publisher, Hoffman Media, to launch the premiere issue of Cooking with Paula Deen. The magazine promised to deliver more of Paula’s savory recipes and Southern hospitality that her fans adore. According to Barnes & Noble, Inc., the world’s largest bookseller, her readers are more than satisfied.

Based on Barnes & Noble’s current category sales ranks, Cooking with Paula Deen is the number one selling Food magazine among the more than 100 titles they carry in this category. To top off the excitement, the special collector’s issue of the magazine, Paula Deen’s Christmas, took the number three spot!

As the owner of two very popular restaurants, author of a string of highly successful cookbooks, and an all-time favorite host on the Food Network, Paula Deen is taking America by storm. And they love it. After all, Paula’s passion for food and her family, and her knack for sweet, southern entertaining, make this lady and her magazine--easy to love.

As for the sales success in Barnes & Noble, the numbers have exceeded the already-high expectations Hoffman Media had for this magazine. “We knew the magazine would be a hit,” said Phyllis Hoffman, CEO of Hoffman Media, “because she is adored by people of all ages. These sales are phenomenal for a magazine this young, and the fact that the holiday issue was ranked number three was icing on the cake!” Now that’s something to celebrate.

Since its founding in 1983, Hoffman Media has been a leader in special-interest publications. Targeting the women’s market, the company publishes TeaTime, Southern Lady, Taste of the South, Just CrossStitch, Sew Beautiful, Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly, and Cooking with Paula Deen.
