Giada Hits the Swamp

Giada was in D.C. over the weekend at the Dupont Circle Farmers' Market.

Thanks to Jordan (and DCist) for the tip!

How fun would it be to just browse about with Giada and pick up some fresh produce (or, pretend to be looking at things while secretly following her around as I would have probably done)?

She was here filming a segment for her show, Tasty Dollar Weekends Giada's Weekend Getaways. I'm not sure if she really films these over one long weekend or not, but I'll be out and about this coming weekend trying to spot her!

I saw her getting set up for her stroll around. Never realized her head is so big -- really, not necessarily ego-wise either.

Great. I had dreams of being in DC when she would tape there. (grumbles)

Saw the episode this week (July 24th). So let's play "Spot the Bloopers":

* That taxi ride to the Dancing Crab was totally staged. She's actually standing on the corner in Tenleytown when she hails the cab, like, a block from the restaurant. Notice the same glass-windowed building in the background when she gets out? That's the building at Wisconsin Ave and Brandywine St.
* How on earth could Giada confuse Adams Morgan with Penn Quarter? (shakes head)
* Giada, sweetie, Georgetown is not "just outside DC." It's in DC.
* Oh, another blooper: looks like all three escalators were working at Dupont Metro entrance. Locals know that there's always one out of commission!

That said, I'm so jealous she did the Latin Dim Sum at Cafe Atlantico! Always meant to do it, never did.

Citronelle is indeed a great restaurant (went there once), and ditto for the Dupont Farmer's Market. I went there every Sunday.

Oh, does Food Network have a corporate account with the Segway tour company? First RayRay did it, now Giada.
