When Photoshop Attacks

Some of you have commented asking me to post about Rachael Ray's updated kitchen and opening montage for 30 Minute Meals.

Well, this past Saturday I figured out when a new episode was on and frantically tried to fiddle with some wires behind my computer to get it to record. Sadly, I missed the opening but did catch the new kitchen and promo bumpers that lead you in after a commercial break.

No more bubbling water and carrots, Rachael is now seen leaning on a giant 30 in one of the bumpers.

It kind of reminds me of a bad senior picture (you know, the ones with a big 1999 just randomly next some poor 18 year old kid who'd rather be out behind the bleachers with a joint in hand--
there goes my blog rating of PG).

The kitchen itself is ORANGE. I'm not talking a little hint of color here and there.

I have pictures of it, but don't have any ready. I'll have to post them later. Until then, be on the lookout for this Weathercaster-like opening.

I caught a little bit of her new show a couple days back...pretty much has the same set up just a different color. I didn't watch the whole show, so I'll have to pay more attention next time.

Be careful when you post those pics of her kitchen... the colors are very Day-Glo and give one seizures. Thanks for taking on my request :-)

I see they've adopted that pseudo-hi def filmed look, like "Tyler's Ultimate," "Good Eats" and "Essence Of Emeril" have done over the last couple of years. It looks like the same set to me, maybe the new format and lighting brings out the orange color.

What bothers me is they changed the set, but not the lighting. So the lights were set up for the old yellow but not for orange, which makes everything up front look realllly dark and the orange look reallly fraekin orange.

I've only seen two episodes with the new set/credits and gotta say, Ms. Ray was VERY subdued (for her, at least.) It was actually a refreshing change. Perhaps a tad weary?

Well that "Now, THAT means..." opening WAS getting a little old.

Speaking of new kitchens, did anyone see the episode of Barefoot Contessa that aired yesterday, 7/14? Ina makes lunch for the architects who designed a barn for her, where she is apparently going to build a new kitchen. It was actually kind of "un-Ina"esque, b/c she had a tablescape for the architects, with hammer-shaped shortbread cookies for placecards, blueprint placemats, fabric swatches hanging from the ceiling. I was thinking Sandra Lee might have snuck into her set in East Hampton. It was nice to see a new episode of BC, however.

The entire kitchen is not orange.
The cabinetry seems to be orangeish(wood?), the larger, bathroom style tile on the walls appears to have been replaced by smaller tile, the appliances apparently are the same as before(real old stove, fully functioning, new fridge, retrofitted to look like a '50s model), frosted glass "back" door(remember "Food Network Unwrapped I," when we learned that the backyard visible through the old door was a total fake? The show is taped in the same studio as "Emeril Live," and "Tyler's Ultimate"). I like the new open and "bumps," too. As on her talk show, RR features her dog, Isaboo.

What really bugs me about the new opening is that food is nowhere to be seen. Bobby Flay and Bob Tushman just said on FNNS that it is the food that is the star, yet we see none in RR's opening.
