Journalism at its Best
I hate to stereotype the fine folks of West Virginia, but check out this "news story" from the local NBC station's Web site regarding Jamie and Bobby Deen's visit to the state fair.
Ummm... maybe an intern wrote this? Someone practicing English for the first time?
Okay... *think of positive, constructive criticism*... the writer is... good at summarizing?
I got nothing.
Jamie and Bobby Deen Visit Fair
If you're not familiar
with them, you may know their mom, Paula Deen.
She has three of her own
shows on the Food Network.
They took the stage to cook in front of
almost two thousand people.
This was the first time either of the
brothers had ever been to West Virginia.
They say they enjoyed the fair
food, especially the ribs.
NBC 6 will have a interview with the brothers
later in the week.

Obviously the writer was not impressed with Hansel and Gretel ...or maybe he/she just doesn't realize how FAMOUS they really are.
they shouldve put the cliffnote that bobby is a total power bottom ;)
Don't I wish! I could cover that man in butter any day. :-)
The article was written
in most good form.
Maybe it should have been written in
Haiku by Rosie O'Donnell.
I learned a lot from reading
this news story.
I love the comments by the two
Anonymous'...haha! :-)
aj: hansel & gretel:-) i will have to photoshop that soon.
anon: have any proof? ;-)
anon: get that on video.
jesse: i love rosie.com. perhaps she's filling in at WWVA:-)
FAMOUS? Puleez.
It was like reading a passage from "Dick and Jane."
See Jaimie stuff his face.
See Bobby chow down ribs.
See Bobby and Jaimie down Tums for their troubles.

As a native West Virginian, I'm afraid that you've captured the essence of living in very, very, very small market television. The television station that you cited is out of Bluefield, WV. Bluefield's population is around 11,000.
Sadly, I don't believe an intern wrote that.
Ugh...so sad. Who wrote this? Did they get paid for writing it?
Clearly the people of West Virginia are so artsy and elevated that they prefer to receive their news in the guise of free form poetry.
Consider the target demographic in the criticism. You have to write for your audience.
Intern? Maybe some teenager with a summer job("Awesome! I get to work in TV."). Apparently, that's all this person could get from the press release the Deen boys' publicist sent out.
