Rachael's New 30MM Kitchen-- Finally

I'm having serious blogger's block lately. I apologize. Nothing on the Food Network is really gettin' my juices flowing-- making me salivate with satisfaction, if you will. True, there's some random new shows on, a few shows on a different times, and a few chefs slowly getting kicked off the network, but there isn't much to blog about.

Which brings me back to Rachael Ray.

Oh Rachael, Rachael, Rachael. Darling of the Food Network. Just look at what a little money, false eyelashes and hair color did for you. Oh, and your food is the same-- but that's beside the point.

What were you dreaming about in that pic on the left, I wonder?

Ohhhh... not orange enough? And the green tiles are too big? Well, you can change that.

Even the ever-faithful pantry-- with its shelves always having the exact 3-5 ingredients you need on it--has to change?

All good things must come to an end, I guess. The new cabinet system she has makes me think there was a sale on lockers at the Nickelodeon channel offices.

It is so very orange in there, now.

But you get what you want when you're RR.

I'm glad someone else thinks her pantry looks like a locker. I am totally getting those 1980's "bowling alley/ice skating rink/theme park locker/cubby system" feeling from them. ICK! :P~

I also feel like there isn't as much visual interest in the background now. I don't like how the wall of small tiles makes the place look flat, I don't like the hood on top of the stove, I don't like the flat look of the orange lockers (for a reason other than its color, too!), and something just "isn't right" about the space. It might look nice/designer in person, but I don't think it fits/shows up right for being on TV.

I also don't like Paula Deen's second kitchen set (but I'm confused b/c I always got the impression she cooked out of her home, so did she get a remodel or something?), I'm confused which Robin Miller kitchen came first (the oval window or the big one with the curtains), and I don't know when Giada started cooking on a diagonal/perpendicular to the camera. Don't even get me started on Sandra Lee's kitchen-decor to coincide with every episode/tablescape/theme each week, haha! I think Food Network needs some help from HGTV! :-)

At least Ina cooks out of her own kitchen, so that should stay the same for a while. (At least until a new South Hampton remodel is necessary. How often do you need one to keep up with the Jones' in the Hamptons?)

:-)

That's NOT the same woman in both sets of pictures, I just KNOW it!

Either there was some serious work done to those eyebrows, or the "current" Rachael is an alien replicant!

And I miss the old Rachael...

oh jessie... are you a Food network newbie? ;-)

Paula's new kitchen is in her new home in Georgia. She did a bunch of interviews where she said the house "was built" around that kitchen, as it was made to accompany a TV crew. I'm with you, though, and don't really like it as much as the one from earlier episodes.

Giada uses rented houses in LA, so they change from season to season. I happen to like that diagonal one where you see the table in the background. It's the most visually different kitchen on FN these days.

Ina has also revealed in interviews that she's building a large "barn" on her property with another television kitchen that will allow "360 degrees of camera movement." I can't wait to get behind Ina!

I've read that Sandra's "kitchen" is actually a set in Brooklyn.

I'm kinda curious who are the chefs that you are refering to that are "slowly getting kicked off the network"? I guess I'm just not as intuitive as you are. haha.

Does anyone else think that Rachaels new look is a little much for day time television? Don't get me wrong, I think she looks better now than she used to...but, between the eye makeup, dark hair and the outfits she wears (Im talking about her new talk show, btw) kinda make her look like she is ready to go out to the club...ok, I was trying to be as nice as possible...what I really meant to say was she kinda looks like a hooker....

...did I mention I heart rachael? haha ;-)

I'm with you on that one Tweaker lol... she's looking a little skanky with over use of black and dark brown and the knee high boots haha :)

i haven't seen that new 30MM set, can't say I'm impressed!

Jacob -

I never knew Paula Deen had a new house built, that explains it. I'm sure she spent a pretty penny, and I love her water view from the backyard, but I hate to say it - I liked the old kitchen/angles/stoves and the old house much better!

I knew Giada rented out houses in LA, but I wasn't sure what the story was with this new angle, as I have never seen them use it before. I'll admit, its kind of interesting, just different! I like it so far.

Can't wait to see Ina's new kitchen, but I like her old one...I hope she oversees the design...you know it will JUST be South Hampton classic! I'm sure she'll invite the gays over for a big dinner party to celebrate once it is up and running!

I always wondered if Sandra Lee's set was a set or a real house. Sometimes it looks very "fake" out the window. BUT - I saw a Thanksgiving special last year where she actually saw wild turkey's running around outside that window as she was cooking a turkey. It was a very "meta" moment. Was that a video? B/c it certainly looked like wild turkey's running on lush green hills - not Brooklyn! :-)

BTW - *LOVE* the picture where Rachel says "this kitchen isn't orange enough!" Perfect! :-)

Tweaker - Yes Rachel is looking a little "clubby" lately - but go her, I guess!

*Does anyone know which Robin Miller kitchen came first and which came second? Its bugging me! :P

Jesse:

Old Robin Miller = oval window, more severe make-up, cheesy theme song (Everybody sing! "Out the door / Beat the clock...It's crazy / But I love it / I love this crazy liiiiiiife!")

New Robin Miller = larger window with filmed car chase sequences, overall much larger workspace, very straight hair, melodic opening sequence with a font that resembles that Line Rider game.

Did y'all catch RayRay's one-hour Open House special? She and John invited some extras from Central Casting...er, their friends...over for a pot luck to christen the new set...er, their new kitchen.

Personally, it's nothing to celebrate. It's a bit of an eye-sore, actually. I can only imagine what it looks like on HDTV.

Pat -

I *LOVE* that you sang the Robin Miller "Quick Fix Meals" theme song to me, lol. Or at least I thought it was the new one, and not the old one. I seriously thought the "oval window set" was a nicer set and seemed more fitting. Also, I liked how she told me at the end of each episode that "your gameplan for the week is on the foodnetwork.com website" or something like that. It was kinda cheesy, but I liked it.

I do *NOT* like when she says at the end of an episode: "These are *YOUR* quick fix meals!" I don't know why - it just irritates me, lol.

Definately like that image where Retch is going "THIS ISN'T ORANGE ENOUGH!"

Jesse- You're so right...I couldn't place it. They're from Nickelodeon. I always though the cabinets reminded me you'd see in a youngster's room circa 1992 (formica cabinets..I had them but not in obnoxious orange).

Sandra Lee...Don't even get me started on her. She just needs a bridge table, crock pot, and can opener. Then she won't have to be so budget conscious when she buys her daily brick of Coke..there's tons of money in the production costs for it now!

Oh yeah, and buy an exhaust hood for the range you don't use. Ovens don't need an exhaust hood!

Paula Deen's original kitchen was actually not even in her own house - it belonged to Gordon Elliott her producer.

I watched that "Rachael Ray's open house"...well twice. It was painful. The "guests" were just so uncomfortable in front of the camera.

One more thing I don't like about the new 30-minute meal: She talks for like 2 minutes when the fridge is open! That's not right!

Last night i dreamed that Rachel and i were riding on the back of a giant polar bear named Smoochly. We were looking for a colony of gnomes who had taken all the strawberries then we were on an ice shelf and Smoochly and Rach disappeared and a giant shark was trying to attack me, but If I siad the word "muffin" out loud just before he bit me i could levitate away from its jaws. Then I was in an old house and found some coins in the wall and then i woke up.

If Robin Miller ate a donut she look like she swallowed an innertube.

Seroiusly, she looks as if she's anorexic. Mebbe she only eats the few bites she cooks on her show.

EAT, ROBIN, EAT!

I love her kithen on her talk show set. The pantry doors with the chalkboard on the fron is too fabu. The whole kitchen is fabu.

Didja see how she's pimping garbage bowls now? Something in my brain says WTF? and another part of my brain says I gotta get me one of those. Crazy!

Elliott's house was, IIRC, in upstate New York. Paula's custom-built house in Savannah--big-for-TV kitchen and all--is a stone's throw from the restaurant she and her brother Bubba Hiers own called
"Uncle Bubba's Oyster Shack," and the meeting room at the eatery is where she tapes "Paula's Party."
I like Rachael's new kitchen set, and I didn't know these neighbors were from Central Casting...I thought she identified them as neighbors.
