All Aboard the Nigella Express

Nigella Lawson's popularity hasn't quite reached its peak here in the U.S., despite still being all the rage in the U.K. (I get so many stories on the domestic goddess in my inbox from the British press.)

Perhaps Nigella's new show, Nigella Express, will jump start things. It premieres this Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1 eastern/pacific.

I don't really have much to say about these pics other than "way to try something different, Nigie!" Actually-- never mind. Do what works for you. Keep it up.

Err... keep them up.

This is now the 2nd day in a row that I've posted pics of scantily clad women of the FN. Let this be a call to you male stars out there: we want skin! :-P

(Be prepared tomorrow for a shirtless Emeril and Mario Batali walking hand-in-hand down the beach. I'll photoshop it if I have to.)

Thanks to Pat for pointing me to this fun story and pics.

Nigella is a beauty!
I am kind of confused because her new show Nigella Express seems to be scheduled at the same time as Amy's new show The gourmet next door... Am I misreading the TV schedule???

I get "Express" at the same time "Feats" was on... 10.30 am Sunday mornings.

Good Lord! If you post a shirtless Mario and Emeril you MUST photoshop it! :)

Do you think Americans just don't get Nigella's voluptuousness? Is she the anti-Giada?

I'm not sure if it airs differently in different markets, but Nigella Express started last weekend (at least in Boston). It was a scrumptious episode, although I am a little sick of that jean jacket and black on black outfit. Yes, she's voluptuous, but can't she just show off her curves?

Which Food Network people would you say have "made it"?

I'm surprised there hasn't been a post about epi one of "The Next Iron Chef" - probably one of the best hours of programming FN has had in ages.

On Nigella Express - I sort of had mixed feelings. On the one hand, I was thrilled they put together another show with her. At the same time, it looks like the concept is kind of thrown together. 95% of the recipes she made before this series were fast, so I don't see why the didn't just do Nigella Feasts season II. This show lacks the nice music the other series had and her recipes, except for the caramel croissant pudding, was very similar to things she made before, like the calammari, the pork chops with mustard. It's kind of like they just threw something together. But then again, beggars can't be choosers.

On TNIC: I just can't get into it. First I am pissed that they are jettisoning Mario Batali and the result of it has really become the Bobby Flay show, who seems to get twice the battles of Kora or Morimotta. I have always found the Chairman to be dumb as a post and who knows nothing about food, except to say, "Thanks for the delicious meal.."
This competition is in a way the kinder, gentler version of The Next Food Network Star, in the sense that they say, "You are all great accomplished chefs but..."
At the same time, they are trying to be edgier like Top Chef, certainly resulting in the chefs making outlandish selections, like Jill Davie and her "beef dessert"
I'll give it another shot

Don't forget Amy Finley premieres Sunday!

Actually Nigella Express premiered last Sunday. I watched the first part of it before turning to The Naked Chef on BBC America. That's how much I liked Nigella Express.

Oh, and to Gregory: Batali being kicked off ICA was a tabloid rumor. He's still on the show, at least for now.

I know that both Batali and FN disputed the story that he was kicked off of ICA but I found the response of the FN rep funny: he said something like MB was back to tape a COUPLE shows for the fall. I found that very suspicious. Of course, they would not want to let the cat out of the bag before the whole show airs but one wonders why they need a 5th Iron chef. They hardly have time to feature all of them equally, making me think that at least one is leaving. I'm betting now that, despite the denials, you will maybe see MB in a couple episodes, maybe as a judge for TNIC and then he will slowly disappear from the canvas..That is my guess on what will happen.
