So how much longer do we have to endure Lisa and her Gucci shoes in the kitchen? If you are going to cook, dress the part.

I'm even more over Jenny and her weeping and her age-inappropriate hair choices than I was last week.

And I wish people would stop outright lying to her about how the camera loves her. It does not.

Episode encapsulated:

There was:

Lack of confidence
Weeping (again)
Disrespect to fish
Undue focus on pineapple garnish ideas
Likable, albeit scary, Lisa with no make-up
Major turn off of mentioning spiked Gucci boots and ridiculously-priced blouse
More weeping
And the elimination of Nipa--Hooray!

Other than that, you didn't miss much.

Okay...where to start, LOL?

Tyler Florence...love him even more after last night. I do not tune into FN/NFNS to see "Princess Giada" turn into witch extraordinaire. This kindness, warmth, and sensititivy is endearing. See, Giada, you can criticize effectively without adding insult to injury.

Aaron- The story at the end really touched me. I hope his son is home and safe and they have sorted what needs to be sorted.

Kelsey- I am really starting to LOVE this gal! GO KELSEY!

Lisa- Well, Suzie Q and Tuschie got it wrong. She seemed just like a real, reachable person when she fell except you have to remember she fell wearing heels...tall, thin heels at that...she had it coming. You can only spin fire for so long before it burns you (and possibly others).

Wearing heels like that to cook is not about maintaing an appearance, it's just stupid and ostentatious. And the whole real, everyday impression flew right out the window when Lisa went yapping about a $300 shirt and I believe she said "Pucci" shoes...I had to google that to even know what it was.

Here's a clue about a good majority of your audience, Lisa, so tune in: I wouldn't spend $300 on an entire outfit, shoes, outerwear, lingerie, and accessories included, much less on ONE shirt. Not only that, but now YOU reek as a liar because cayou me on here trying to appear "just like us", saying that you bought most of that stuff second-hand. Well, Queen Lisa, if you paid $300 for a second-hand shirt, you might want to check out a children's story called, "The Emperor's New Clothes". So either you're a liar or a poser with a serious Tiara complex..or wait, perhaps you are both. Either way, you neither seemed real nor accesible in that episode but I sure did enjoy watching you fall flat on your can. Too bad you didn't get a lecture about how utterly ridiculous you look in those heels in a kitchen. You are a safety hazard to all those around you, not just yourself, and that shows the lengths of your selfishness, self-aggrandization, and self-idolization. People really don't like being lied to. All the sympathy you had garnered from me with your "look at me!" posts has flown right out the window.

Adam- Adam, Adam, Adam....please, for the love of god, stop with the antics.

Jennifer- I am a person that apologizes for everything too so I get where you are coming from. I hope you can find more confidence. BTW..you look a bit like Elisa Donovan.

Nipa- Sorry, I hear the term "Bollywood" and have no dag on clue what it means. I suppose India's Hollywood? I really don't think you should have been cut yet. I don't like to deal with fish in their whole state either, but I'm not trying to be the next FN star.

Shane-- Yes, you are still cute and seem to have a knack for what you do.

This was an interesting episode. Really, some surprises for me (which I go into more detail about here):

I would have been disappointed any other week that Nipa left so soon - South Asian food on the Food Network would be a nice addition! But she's a diva, a flake and, as we saw tonight, ick'd out by whole fish and squid. Unless you're a vegan chef, you just gotta be prepared to use that sort of stuff. So yeah, sadly she should've gone tonight.

I'm still kind of surprised that Adam is still around. He just gets schtickier and schtickier every week and it's starting to grate on my nerves. Plus, how many people hold the distinction of the judges telling you that they had to spit your food out because it was so bad?

Aaron - It's funny, because every comment and blog entry I have read about him just glows. The man can do no wrong. So I was a little surprised to see him sucking so bad tonight. A little bit of it was Schadenfreude, but mostly I was just surprised at how poorly he did.

Jen - I. Am. Sorry. But you need to go away. It was fun to see her shuckin' oysters, though.

Lisa - They make flats for a reason. Cheap, comfortable shoes that you don't fall on your ass while wearing them. And $300 for a used blouse? Why would your wear that to cook in? Show-off.

Shane - The boy surprised me. Especially after the judges liked his marshmallow creme dish.

Kelsey - The girl surprised me, too. And yet, I still find her annoying. Well, good for her she won, even if the reward is having your recipe nestled in with all the crap they shill at...

Red Lobster - Ick. Ick ick ick!

Tuschie - I mentioned this on my blog, but if they really thought Nipa could fill a nice niche, why haven't they already looked for a chef that specializes in South Asian cuisine? Or any Asian cuisine for that matter? (Iron chef does not count.)

I LOVED last night's episode. It was sooo time for Nipa to go. I mean seriously...she was freakin' about a fish. Too bad the Midwestern Indian food thing didn't pan out though....loved the concept.

I think Lisa needs glasses because she quints whenever she is reading something or trying to look at the camera or person in detail. that or contacts she needs something. when her eyes are like that her eyeshadow from the top blends with the sides of her eyes and they look totally closed. Not appealing.

When Lisa fell I jumped out of my seat and yelped.I felt soo bad for her when she ws covered in sauce i just wanted to go into the TV and hug her.

FYI- Lisa wasn't wearing stilettos, pucci makes cofortable lace up booties, which is what she was wearing, she was also cooking in front of a fryer which causes the floor to be slick no matter what shoes your wearing, it's like driving in the first ten minutes of a rain storm, the kitchen had no floor mats, which I know is regulation in most states, get over it, i didn't hear the bit about the shirt? just becuase it costs that much doesn't mean she paid it, didn't she blog that her clients give her clothes???? why hate somebody for doing a good job and earning something for it?? Leave her alone already, food network could use some fashion already

Nipa was indeed impossible, but I am sorry for that. She is the only one of the lot whose show, if he or she should get one, that I could conceivably actually watch. FN needs a show on Indian food, or some cuisine east of the Bosporus.

"why hate somebody for doing a good job and earning something for it??"

It's called envy.

At 6/23/2008 11:12 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I, too, don't understand all the hate for someone who has money.
And, for the record, I thought Lisa said she buys "vintage" clothes--a lot different than just plain "used." Vintage clothing is over-the-top expensive.

At 6/23/2008 11:40 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Lisa was NOT wearing high heels. I specifically looked for this when the group was gathered prior to the challenge. I knew from the previews that she would fall and I, too, wondered if heels were the reason. However, they were not.

Not liking Lisa for her on camera presence or cooking is one thing but not liking her because of her clothing or desire to dress a certain way is childish and immature.

At 6/23/2008 12:04 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's her attitude, not her attire, that people dislike. You can wear a $2,000 shirt and be likeable. There cetainly isn't anything "enviable" just because a person buys expensive clothing. It's the fact she has to point it out and her attitude in doing so. She is fabulously put together so what's the point in mentioning the cost? It looked quite clear to me she was not wearing a kitchen appropriate flat shoe.

Wow! What a hilariously entertaining episode.
Oh Lisa, the shoes, the shoes! Even if the floor may have been slick (whether near a fryer or not) all kitchen floors are subject to spills & often unsafe conditions. Knowing this, wouldn't you at the very least, wear comfortable, appropriate, safe flat shoes??? (flip flops or open toe flats don't count either). I'm thinking $300 would certainly help feed a lot of homeless people. I don't envy her one bit.

Adam, please stop! First serenading Martha and now the falling down act. He did look like a complete "bozo". At least his comedic skills were better than the self proclaimed comedienne contestant who got kicked out the first episode.

Nipa - simply horrible! That tiny teeny weeny piece of fish, c'mon now, really! She should have been gone last week with her ingenious combination of cayenne & sugar. Oh right, it was the ratio that made it unique.

Last night was very amusing!

Seems rather simplistic, dismissive, and the work of misappropriated logic to lump all people who comment negatively on Lisa's fashion as being "jealous". "Oh, yeer jest gel-ous! Neener neener!" When I have $300 available to throw around, it is not my preference to spend it on clothing and when I do buy nice things, it is not my preference to draw attention to their cost or throw around semi-obscure name brands (ie:Pucci). Maybe this is her rather clever attempt to draw in more fashion clients or get some advertising gigs with these high-end brands, maybe even some freebies from them. Maybe it's just the way she is, who knows?

Come on guys, give some of us who dislike her more credit than saying we "haters" are jealous Seems some people tried to side with her, I for one did. I don't hate her, don't wish any ill-will on her, falling was certainly physically and emotionally painful enough, I am sure. I just dislike her persona at times. I make no lump sum categorizations about those that support her, let's do the same for those who um...support her... not so much.

Meow! What was up with Tyler's comment about Shane's haircut? What a jerk!

Just wanted to add, I'm glad Nipa's gone. Her attitude sucked. And her niche/culinary POW was too limited. You cannot build a whole FN show on Indian food, esp. since she seems limited in her repetoire..Curry dishes..oh, that's surprising...

I thought the son running away thing was not appropriate at that moment. I think they are totally overdoing the drama for ratings. What's next, Kelsey says, "Today one year ago, my doggie diiiiiiiiiiieed, yes he had to be put to sleeeeeeeeeeeep" I am not impressed with all the drama...

Listen. The Lisa you seen on the FN is the Lisa she is at home. She’s not pretending, she’s not being fake and she’s not trying to be Martha. She is who she is. Her dress is always impeccable and topped off with an adorable homemade apron for every outfit. Why be so mean? I know Lisa personally and mean is not even in her vocabulary. I have never heard her say anything hurtful about anyone nor would she given the opportunity. Do you have nothing better to do than care she wears heels in the kitchen? Why does it matter what she wears? She’s comfortable and cute none the less. Get over yourself and use some manners people. Lisa is a tough one to figure out I will give you that. But watch with an open mind…she will grow on you.
One more thing…Lisa is so likeable here in Dallas that most of the clothes she is wearing on the show we DONATED to her from some pretty fabulous designers. She’s no liar.

At 6/23/2008 7:18 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why did Lisa have to mention the shoes were $300 shoes??? Was it really relevant & important that she let us all know this? Whether they were donated to her, she bought them herself, were a gift from a client....why mention the value/price??? This says a lot about her.
The Lisa "seen on FN is the Lisa she is at home"?.....yikes! Tartare at RL?...double yikes!!

I am not a “Lisa Lover” but I do think she has impeccable taste. She probably mentioned the $300 shirt bc each “interview” taping verges on the side of absurd in length. They practically have you throw up at the mouth in order to get you say something worth putting on the air. Ever known anyone who has been on ANY reality show? I know for a fact that when they are evaluated by the judges each time…it’s over five hours long…we see about 15 minutes if that. They edit everything to make everyone have a “character”…and everyone is falling for the “Dallas Diva Creature” they have created.

Last night's episode was like a bad Ben Stiller movie. You just keep putting your hands over your eyes and going "no no no". These people made cooking look like the most painful thing they've ever done.

At 6/23/2008 9:20 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Correction from my previous post - the shirt was $300, not the shoes. That's even more ridiculous! We all know how expensive dansko clogs can be...but a shirt? It's more why she mentioned the price, not necessarily that it was a $300 shirt. Still don't know. Yes, TV edits to form a "character", but editors can only edit what is presented to them by that "character" and how they act, what they say, do, wear, etc.

At 6/23/2008 9:30 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Seriously? Do you believe that? Have you learned nothing about the way the media warps the truth and then puts it out there so that we can devour the crumbs and swallow them as fact? People…it’s a reality show. And there is nothing reality about it.

I didn't understand why Nipa couldn't control her screaming when she had to touch a (*gasp* dead) whole fish, but she was calm handling squid and cutting it's eyes off!

At 6/24/2008 12:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

blame it on the editing, lol! yeah, right.

At 6/27/2008 9:42 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sad that we won't be getting Indian food, not sad that Nipa is gone. Her sewage face was really getting to me.

Aaron wasn't so good this week, which was a shame.

Lisa is growing on me simply because she knows her shit. She needs some confidence and social etiquette (we know Giada wears designers; she just doesn't need to mention it).

The rest I still don't care for. It would be nice if something interesting happened. Still waiting.
