I really think that Lisa should win. She's got the look, the food, the background. Really the whole "pkg." She sort of seems like the "new younger" Barefoot Contessa. Hey...they have the same hair cut! LOL

Yes, wicked copout. I though Aaron totally flopped both in terms of food and performance. I'm starting to think there's some affirmative action happening here. Before anyone calls me racist, take an objective look at their performances and food. I think Lisa is the winner, despite what a number of folks have pointed out about the annoyance factor. Remember that this is the network that has employed Sandra Lee for many years....yes, quick, easy, semi-homemade, except you have to redecorate your kitchen every time you serve a meal!

Aha! So I wasn't the only one! :) I was thinking for a while, and even said as much, that I just kept getting this weird Project Runway 3 vibe, where they decided to send all four finalists - Laura, Michael, Jeffrey and Uli - to Fashion Week. Can't do that too often.

One or two people I've talked to/gotten comments from seem to be pissed about hoisting Lisa up in the air. I don't know, that looked fun. The thing I was irritated with was the cameraman/woman training the lens on Lisa's dropped food, instead of telling her she dropped it. Yeah, I know, not allowed to interact. But if that is a real rule then it's a stupid one.

Wow-OK, I want Aaron kicked off for his whole "I have an eating disorder" comedy routine. It was more than just unfunny-it was callous, mean, and disgusting. I have a friend who is currently battling an eating disorder. It's NOT funny-it's heartbreaking. It's an illness like any other and should be treated that way. It's a tough thing to battle, and Aaron should be absolutely ashamed of himself, and frankly, Food Network should be ashamed of itself for airing it. What next-making fun of cancer patients or the developmentally disabled or tossing banana peels on handicap ramps? There's no excuse.

He should have been kicked off for that disgusting display alone. But-he didn't do well connecting to the cameras, again (although I'll grant that he did ok on the final promo), and his cooking wasn't great, either. There was nothing Vegas-like about his buffet, at all, and that was the point of the challenge. Do you send a guy home for one bad week? YES! How was his flubbed buffet, going all simple at what should have been a big, bold buffet, different from last week where Kelsey tried to please the judges by doing more gourmet-type meals? She had one bad week and she went home for it. Aaron should have not merely gone home, but been kicked out on his rear-end for the E.D. "comedy".

They wanted to send Adam packing, but he won this week. Lisa did very well, so she can't go home. Aaron lost this week, but he is the favorite of the judges.

Their Answer: Keep 'em all another week!

My answer: Send Aaron packing.

It seems patently obvious that the judges, at least Tuschy and Medusa-hair, are determined to see their guy win ... even if it means changing the rules of the game!

I already know how to smoke meat and assemble pasta salad. Lisa's cooking is the only one I'd love to learn. She really deserves to win at this point. Besides being hoisted up that rig, she's fallen and come out smiling (or singing - who knew?) I am hoping the judges see reason and pick her.

Can't let the stupid viewers decide, they might get another Amy. Can't let one bad day spoil the whole equal opportunity thing. What do you do? Cop out and go home to New York where you can take more time and rig things so you get the winner you want. With all of the possibility of an afro american president, only one choice, Aaron. Oh well, at least he has a personality unlike Lisa. I learned tonight she was a former beauty contestant and could not believe it. Somebody please tell her that helmet hair went out of style when she was still in diapers.

At 7/21/2008 1:33 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

What a cop out. The judges really wanted Adam to go, but because he fared so well with the crowd they couldn't let him go. That would present an air of unfairness now wouldn't it.

this was just depressing.
i mean really? Aaron is still a contender?
HE MADE HALF OF HIS BUFFET PASTA.

thats just gross.

and then he made fun of eating disorders, AND didn't even get a single chuckle to back it up. Pitiful.

At 7/21/2008 2:08 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

They probably already selected the winner from the beginning, and this whole thing is just for ratings. Seems like FN likes Aaron. He got Bobby Flay to coach his video and the other two got Fieri, who sucks at coaching. He also flopped completely this week and he didn't get the boot. WTF? Also the catering challenge has nothing to do with being a good host, they are just trying to copy Top Chef.

Here's the thing...most of the people who watch the Food Network are looking for food/recipe ideas, techniques and entertainment. You might get that from Aaron and Adam could do it, but Lisa is so irritating that I'd watch the Weather Channel before I'd endure 30 minutes with her. If I have to watch her squint her eyes and tell me (not show me) how great she is, I'm going to poke my own eyes out. She's condescending, aloof and unapproachable. She's a triple threat. If she were only 1/8th as talented as she thinks she is, she might have something to offer us- I feel no obligation to her except a suggestion for her show, "Haughty Made Easy." Even when confronted with healthy, helpful criticism, she brushes it off and cries. One of my favorite snipets from this season is when Paula Deen told Lisa that her food was crap. This isn't about boys versus girls or white versus African American. This is someone (Adam or Aaron) who has something to offer us versus someone (Lisa) who thinks most of us are far, far below her and we should be thankful that she might finally have a platform from which to educate and enlighten the proletariat.

First, I'm glad Adam is still in it because I've liked him ever since the commercials started before the show. What can I say--he's just cute. :) And I was so glad his food was the best tonight.

Aaron's performance was absolutely embarrassing to watch. I missed the part about the eating disorder because I couldn't understand much of what he was saying. But this just underscores the fact that he's not good in front of crowds OR a camera. Bob, Susie and Bobby obviously want him to win, since they let him stay. If this were any other contestant, they'd be gone without question.

Lisa, I never have liked. Her whole persona is fake and the squintiness (is that a word?) doesn't help that. I don't think the average Food Network viewer wants to learn how to make cassoulet or whatever that was last week, especially with her teaching it. And I don't want to hear "This is mah LIFE!" ever again!!

If Lisa gets a show, 15 of the 17minutes of air time in a 30-minute show will be spent squinting and pursing her lips. And per a previous post, NO, her haircut is not the same as Ina's and no, she could NOT be the next Ina. What was so fabulous about her cooking this week? She had "inconsistent" (Guy's words) pork crown roast and who knows how the fish turned out, did they even say/focus on that?

Aaron--I couldn't understand the whole ED thing and it was making me nervous, tense, and uncomfy to watch him up there so I tuned it out. He had me convinced with his spill as to why he chose so many pasta dishes but their presentation was lackluster. If he was going to go with pasta, he should have made it have tons of pizzazz!

Adam-- Great show! Really, Guy F was a freakin' prick with the comment he made after asking Adam how he (Adam) thought the promo went. So Mr. Rainbow Bright sucks at coaching and Adam didn't do his promo as if he'd rehearsed it for a week. Um, was that really expected. WTF is up with how everyone is saying Sir Douche's last name now? Did his last name suddenly acquire new syllables because the amount in his bank account rose sufficiently. What a freakin' croc of hot stinky poo!

Tushelwipe-- GOD please, go back to the board room and get off of the tv. Bob more so than Susie, your elistist attitude is many miles away from the median audience you are trying to reach.

Flay- Nice job this week.

Mr. Rainbow Bright/Sir Douche-- gag me with a spoon, please!

*LOL*

Great show last night, and wowsa, those challenges weren't easy. They always have them doing so many things at once. Did anyone else think it was unfair that Aaron only had to walk and talk and had Bobby Flay for a coach while the others were subjected to a bunch of craziness with little direction from Guy? Normally I really like the guy, but he just came off sort of prick-ish last night.

I was actually really glad that Adam was given another chance...everyone clearly loved his food. I think I'd definitely watch his "Frat Boy Makes Good" cooking show. I can't say that I'd get that excited about a Lisa or Aaron show—especially Lisa. She just is way too unapproachable. I'm sorry but whoever thinks she's trying to be in the next Barefoot Contessa is a little off. She could never be as warm or inviting.

At 7/21/2008 9:42 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I also thought Aaron had the easier promo and Bobby Flay was a much better coach. Aaron pissed me off this week, with his jokes and bad food. Obviously he should have left. It was stupid. I was annoyed I stayed up to watch it.

At 7/21/2008 9:49 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

My gosh....I have to go to the Food Network blog to hear ignorant comments like "affirmative action" and "equal opportunity thing" regarding Aaron? Are you people stupid/racist idiots? Is this the RNC?

At 7/21/2008 10:10 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Clue: I am a hair stylist and Lisa's style (a bob) is very trendy. You may not like it but to say it isn't "in" shows how little you know. Sorry.

Like her or not she truly is the most talented and has the best over all package.

Maybe if she had her own show and could relax she wouldn't be so nervous, squinting and irritating.
I think all that is stress.

I really am convinced she deserves to win.

At 7/21/2008 10:58 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Tuschelwipe. I should have thought of that one. Classic.

I agree these jamokes should spend more time at the office, less time in front of any camera. The illness that permeates FN is so strong that weasles like Turdman and Fogelberg think in some way their onscreen presence will enhance the program itself. I suppose they think if people like Gina Neely or Rachel Ray can be stars, why can't they.

Tuschwipe, I think you could land a spot on a Next Generation episode, but Food TV doesn't need you.

We should also leave Aaron alone for his eating disorder comments. This ain't the spot to preach political correctness.

I wish Aaron would've smacked Fee'Useless with a saute pan. What a little fuck he is turning into uh ?

At 7/21/2008 11:21 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I really don't understand why Aaron is still in the competition. He kept making comments about how uncomfortable he was in front of all the people attending the buffet. Can somebody with that much stage fright and lack of stage presence host his own show?!

At 7/21/2008 11:33 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree with the other Lisa fans...she deserves to win. She is prepared and focused and has done everything the judges have asked her to do.
There was a comment on the Food Network judges blog that said that they felt that each individual judge has a individual favorite. I think Susie likes Adam, Bobby likes Aaron and Bob likes Lisa. So...who has the most say out the three judges will determine the winner.

I hope Lisa wins. I plan on TiVoing all of her shows!

Also...how long does it take from winning to having the show air?

Thanks!

There is NO WAY! Iam going to watch anyone of these finalist shows. They have nothing to offer me that would further my cooking education. They would just recycle the same tips that I have already heard from other FN hosts. However, Adam could give Guy a run for his money on hosting a BS travel to different restaurants show. He's got the personality and chops to do it. He's natural with the camera. Lisa couldn't even get out one line. Aaron when he loosened up he did have something but I don't think they have the time to "train" some one. Oh at this point I don't care. Its always the same ole BS from FN. repeats, repeats, repeats, and terrible host who DONT know how to season their food.... Robin Miller. So I guess at this point anyone of them is a gamble..

At 7/21/2008 12:39 PM , Blogger sexyfemalemuscle said...

did anyone notice how uncomfortable or how begrudgingly Bobby Flay admitted that Adam's food was good. Of the final 3 Adam is the one with the most potential. He is likable, comfortable in front of the camera and, at least in my case, connects with his audience through the camera.
The way the selection committee has been propping up and passing Aaron through has been disgraceful. He really should have gone out weeks ago. And the comment that can we let someone go on one bad week was stupid, of course you can! That is the point of the week to week contests.

?Really? I have to think this over...you might just be right. But..Lisa is wearing flat shoes and her make-up seems much more toned down. I am wondering if I saw her in person with those Jackie O sunglasses if I would in fact feel that I could approach her with a question. My gut feeling wants to say "yes". We can't blame her for being stylish. God knows I am not, but I think when she has the freedom to have her own show, she won't have to rush so much. She is overcompensating and I bet that is all it is.

What do you think?

Who do you want to win?

What about Kelsey? Should she have made it to the finals?

But it doesn't seem that Adam can cook! (At least that is what we are lead to believe...giving him the benefit of the doubt). He's made a couple of good dishes. Aaron and Lisa have been consistently great cooks! Everyone b!tchs about FN having crappy cooks and are more focused on personality. Now some are rooting for Adam who doesn't appear to be such a good cook. I don't get it and I'm fed up with the FN negativity. Just quit watching the network.

At 7/21/2008 1:46 PM , Blogger sexyfemalemuscle said...

I like the network, I was pulling for Kelsy. As far as Adam's ability to cook or not cook, I am not really sure how much these "tests" really demonstrate one's ability to cook. They did a "throw down" last week, but if you have never had the dish, as in Adam's case, how are really supposed to know how it is supposed to turn out. On Bobby Flay's throwdown, he examines the dish he is going to cook, gets advise if he doesn't have a lot of experience with it, and then runs it through the test kitchen, w/2 assistants.
When given the appropriate prep time it seemed, according to Sunday's show, that Adam can cook. And if the audience, made up of chefs, reactions were any indication -- he can cook really good.
Whoever, gets a show will have run rehearsals, cuts, retakes, editing, etc... to get the cooking right. But to be on TV you have to be able to connect with the viewer, get their attention and then hold it. I seems of the remaining bunch Adam is the one that can do this important task.

This is entertainment. We'll never actually taste their food. RR knows. It's all about story telling. Adam will win but I really wanted Shane. I like Kelsey too but not for her owm show.

At 7/21/2008 2:20 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Okay, the show is really about ratings -- last season the ratings were very, VERY strong.

I have mixed feelings for all these guys:
Arhon -- I have a hard time understanding, besides not relating to the camera...and his Vegas food was ho-hum.

Adam -- I have not been convinced of his love of food or cooking and cant get into him yet. I do know his food was fab in Vegas...finally.

Lisa -- I am finally warming up to her and I do see a human side to this girl and she does have a passion for cooking!

Not everyone will be on board for any one contestant -- never. I know FN will choose who they think fits where they are going - good direction or bad.

Personally, I can hardly stand the FN any longer. Too many "diner shows" and "challenges" in prime time. I still long for the old days of the FN...sniff sniff

Does anyone here feel SORRY for Aaron for being stuck with Jennifer as his sous chef??? GOOD GRIEF!! I about died when I saw HER enter as a helper!!! What was FN thinking?? Did they want another shattered glass bottle episode??

Kelli in TN

i am SICK of everyone slamming Lisa and talking about her squinty eyes and snotty attitude and how annoying she is..... they have THE most annoying bitch on eearth in tons of shows on TFN: PAULA DEEN. ( let's also not forget the incredibly annoying Rachael Ray and equally annoying Sandra Lee....puleese....) I would much rather watch Lisa than these bitches any day of the week.
AND THE GIRL CAN SING!!!

At 7/21/2008 3:22 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Who cares if she can sing? This isn't Anerican Idol. LOL. I do like Lisa though. And I agree. Bye Paula and Aunt Sandy............

Yeah Lisa would be a good replacement for Paula Deen, RR and even the increasingly annoying next inline to the Throne of Moldavia ,
the Princess of Prosciutto, Giada De Laurentis.

Bring her on, but get her to an opthamologist and a hairstylist. The Lord Fauntleroy cut will draw criticism.

Susie looked good this week.

At 7/21/2008 7:59 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree with whomever wrote that Bobby doesn't like Adam. That makes sense that he would be future competition. That would suck massively if that were the reason Adam didn't win. In order to get through a show hosted by Lisa I would need dramamine or something. Watching and listening to her go at warp speed makes me queasy. Aaron's eating-disorder-disaster should have been cause for dismissal, I think.

At 7/21/2008 8:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Lisa should not be allowed near sharp knives. Actually, someone please ban her from ALL knives. She needs to make some serious cuts in her caffeine consumption, and soon. I think Adam should win. He hasn't gotten AS emotional as Lisa or Aaron. They're supposed to win a FOOD show, right? Lisa cried over meeting Martha Stewart. I laughed so hard. I would not watch a show hosted by a person who thought Martha Stewart was some sort of role model. I was hoping Adam would make some jailhouse rock lobster sauce or something to commemorate Martha appearing on the show. Everyone is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too serious about this. The lesser of three emotionals would be Adam and some of his recipes actually sound really good. Go ADAM! Oh, and I also made the spock ears comment to my husband. This show is a HOOT!

At 7/21/2008 9:11 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Enough of the chicken, beef and pork!! NOTHING has been original or ethnic and hey..why no Latino people on the show???
Enough of this same ol blah bland food!!!!!!!!
No one is entertaining, they don't know food, and in front of a live audience they would freeze up if somone were to ask a question about ethnic cusine..

At 7/21/2008 9:52 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Since when is being mediocre star potential? None of the contestants this year have what it takes to be a STAR!! None of them. No one is really that good in the kitchen and as far as presence...ZZZZ!!!
Frantic cooking does not make a good chef or host...relax Lisa!! And Adam he couldn't cook his way out of a paperbag...he smokes his food and the pipe... Aaron is ok, but just ok, a star? no, don't think so..for season five, get new people to cast, there is so much potential out there and I think it was overlooked...these people need to COOK!! not the same ol blah food...NEXT!!!

At 7/21/2008 10:24 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

FN should have done a better job in picking the group of finalists to be on this show. Then we wouldn't be stuck with the dung pile of contenstants we have now. They all suck.

At 7/22/2008 12:52 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

So just good enough gets you a show?
With half ass food and a lame persona you get to be a TV personality...ah crap!!! people say "oh it's just entertainment"..not for me..I am a food professional and have respect for all things culinary. So when these knuckleheads get a chance of a lifetime and they can't cut the mustard (pun intended) they get a gig?? what the hell is that all about?? Adam gets by with crappy cooking skills and all the food probably tastes like charcoal briquettes from over smoking, Lisa is a crazy train in the kitchen..a mess, and frantic..not good and her "Beautiful Basic" food is all BROWN!!. Don't know about you but I have a color TV. And Aaron is not good with people. To be a FN host you have to have it ALL..the cooking, the people skills, the IT factor...these dingleberries aint got it!! Send them all back to TGI Fridays to work the fry station!!!

At 7/22/2008 7:46 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Don't worry. The new show will only last a year. I think it's now designed that way. I mean if you're good you will get a show without being on the Next Food Network Star.

Aaron has to go! He plain sucked this episode, and it made me uncomfortable watching him. Only one other time have I felt uncomfortable watching NFNS and that was in week 4 when Aaron out of the blue started talking about his runaway kid, WTF!! I'm not heartless but the timing and awkwardness of really turned me off :P I hate feeling like that. He really sucks on camera and I can NEVER enjoy a show hosted by him because of those failures. And maybe I'm thinking too much into this but on the RR challenge, did anyone else notice that he conveniently had the most adorable brownie out of the bunch? I also don't think he really rocked the first vegas challenge so much as Kelsey just tanked it. And we didn't see her getting a free pass despite her great past performances. Whether you believe it's affirmative action or not, Aaron has definitely been shown unfair favoritism this whole series. Anyways, hoping either Lisa or Adam win at this point because they've actually earned their spots in the finals

I agree! Go home Aaron!

At 7/22/2008 10:43 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah. And his pizza looked horrible compared to the swap outs that he didn't make. Shane got stuck with a crappy kid who shouldn't even had been picked to do this show.

Ya! I agree! Down with Aaron! Shane got a pathologically shy kid! No fair! Guy was really lame and seemed to not even be trying to really coach those guys! No fair!

My fav contestant Kelsey has already left the show so I really don't care about the last three but I noticed that at one point Lisa commented that each time Adam leaves his 'Comfort Zone' he messes up his food. I am just wondering how true is this for Lisa herself ‘coz when she was asked to make "Macaroni and Cheese" with the recipe in hand, she couldn't even make it for the judges to like it, in fact they plain hated it. So how good is she at cooking anyways if she can't make plain mac and cheese, or probably anything else other than what she's practiced on a hundred times.

To those that say they're going to miss Lisa if she doesn't make it, I'd like to give you some alternatives. If you're looking for someone who definitely suffers from the same strain of untreatable diva-itis as our fine Miss Lisa, look no forward than Martha Stewart, Dr. Laura, Ann Coulter, Nancy Grace or Victoria Beckham. Their patron saint, of course, is the late Leona Helmsley. If you don't belive me AND you're brave enough- copy & click here and tell me who this is... http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/timewasters/art.leona.jpg I'm sure Lisa has a place in our culture- but please Lord, can in not be on my TV? And just so you don't think I'm "mean", as a treat for all the Lisa Lovers, I've uncovered (after an exhaustive search) this exclusive, photo of Lisa's husband working in their exclusive (her word's not mine) restaurant. Enjoy. http://members.aol.com/gamzemenali/private/vulcan.gif

Here's my take:
Aaron - bad presenter, ok food. He shouldn't even be on the show anymore so he doesn't deserve to win
Adam - great presenter, ok food. He's easily the most entertaining and comfortable in front of the camera. Even when he presents badly it's not so bad because of his charisma. (except on the show with the coast guards.. although that crowd was waaay too serious. Honestly, not even a chuckle??)
Lisa - ok presenter, great food. She was so bad in the beginning but she works hard and has improved the most
I think it's really close between Adam and Lisa with Adam barely inching her out. Maybe they could just break another rule and team them both up! =D

At 7/22/2008 9:18 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The bottom line was that Aaron was going to go home after his food and performance failure and the producers had to do something to prevent it since they obviously want him to win.

But none of them are exciting me much.

I can't see Adam having a show.. what the hell would it be about? 24 minutes of---- what?

Lisa could carry a show but I would have to say they should have her fight to the death some sous chef at the half way mark of each episode to make it more interesting. LOL! Not saying that I don't like Lisa, I just don't know exactly what I would do with her in a show.

At 7/23/2008 12:30 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't even know why I bothered to watch this show if Aaron wins, they might as well have just hired him right from the get go and saved everyone else the trouble since they already decided. Lame!

My fiance has liked Aaron from the beginning (while I've liked Adam from the beginning) but even he could NOT watch Aaron's painful, embarrassing Vegas presentation.

And I forgot about the fact that Aaron had the most adorable Girl Scout. Absolutely true.

I hate it when shows are so obviously fixed toward one person. He should have gone home in the last challenge.

And isn't it convenient that we're not allowed to vote this year and screw up their plans? Because the judges' favorite doesn't have a lot of fans, I see.

I agree with the anonymous above when it was said that Guy didn't even seem to coach them. In fact, it didn't seem like he gave a crap. Is he afraid someone will win who will upstage him? I don't know how many of you have seen South Park on Comedy Central, but sometimes when Guy says "OK" (which he does quite a bit), he sounds like Mr. Mackey, the school counselor. "We're gonna take these shrimp and put them in the oil, OK? And fry them up until they're golden brown, OK? Then I'll try not to wear flip flops in the kitchen all the time, OK?"
Bobby Flay was really supportive and encouraging during Aaron's TV promo spot.
I read on this blog and in your messages about the FN screwup in accidentally publishing the TNFNS results/exit interviews.
I also agree that Aaron is not the best candidate for a show. It is really surprising that he lasted as long as he did. I would even say the same about Adam to an extent.
