You're Not Off the Hook, Adam or Lisa

I may be a little hard on Aaron, but don't think I thought Adam or Lisa did any better last night.

This whole "I feel like I'm back in school" / "I have a hard time memorizing things" bullshizz from Lisa and Adam's "big risk" of smoking meat, yet again, failed to impress me.

I don't think memorizing ten words is that impossible of a mission, regardless what type of ADD/ADHD one might possess. Plus, weren't you holding the card with the lines on it, Lisa!

And while Aaron's major buzzkill of a presentation may have made it a bit difficult for Adam to follow, I think he could have thought of something other than "Hello Vegas!" (Maybe a Siegfried and Roy tiger attack joke or something?)

So... I'm still torn. Aaron would be out if they had based the elimination on presentation and food. Lisa's and Adam's food looked good overall, but I don't know if they should win, either.

Lisa, no more excuses, your an adult please act like one, in school ? doing what certinaly you memorised recipes. Aaron, high end buffet ? more like a cheap motel buffet. Adam well, backyard smoker ? Yes I think all of them need to go into the studio and do a demostration of their show, because Vegas was a washout. Although I will give Lisa a way to go girl, for flying like an Angel, and to do that well trying to do a promo. As for the other promos would not watch either show if they come on with those, like some of the promo they have for some of the new shows coming up, going to make it hard to really watch the show if the promo is a dud.

Lisa is the one who should win this competition just to piss off all the people who say they don't like her!

In all seriousness, out of all of the competitors, I think she's the one who has the full package to establish her own niche of cooking, entertaining and style on Food Network. I'm totally sold on her idea of beautiful basics and would enjoy cooking the way she does. I don't at all get the condescending vibe that others claim to see from her. I think she's stylish and knows what she's talking about. She's a perfect fit for Food Network which needs to raise the caliber of its cooking without sacrificing star quality.

I am no fan of Lisa's, but I would be very pissed if I were she last night. She clearly was head and shoulders above the competition. In addition, Adam had raves from the chefs and the entertainers. For some reason, Bobby Flay doesn't like Adam - and my guess is because Adam would be competition on the BBQ front. And the same with Guy. He has no cooking show - he is just an entertainer, and he is afraid that Adam would do him out of a job. This was very strange last night.

I think Lisa would be okay on a show on the Fine Living Network--maybe after Martha, maybe showing off her aprons and fancy cooking, but not on Food Network, where I would rather see people who are more relateable show me how to cook things I might actually want to cook. I never watch Fine Living because I have no interest in it, but I think Lisa would fit in much better there.

I am voting for Lisa.....she's talented, funny and knows about food. If not her then Aaron....can't stomach Adam. I don't think he could teach anyone about food since he seems to be in need of that knowledge!

In recent weeks I have overcome my initial aversion to Lisa and do believe she deserves to win. However, the way she has been treated by the judges reveals how hypocritical Tuschman and Fogelman are. Last year they heaped nothing but scorn and abuse on Amy Finley whenever she uttered a French word or - God forbid - mentioned living in France.

This year? No one has called Lisa on her ornamental use of French. (Remember the early episode where she used the word "degustation" and Food Network obligingly spelled it out on the screen?) The judges purred over her cassoulet last week - contrast that to their reaction to Amy's choice of a dish for the Rachel Ray show. When Shane was sacked Tuschman said, "You cook French food but you've never been to France, have you?"

Lisa may have a reason to gripe against FN, but Amy really has one....

Lisa should not be allowed near sharp knives. Actually, someone please ban her from ALL knives. She needs to make some serious cuts in her caffeine consumption, and soon. I think Adam should win. He hasn't gotten AS emotional as Lisa or Aaron. They're supposed to win a FOOD show, right? Lisa cried over meeting Martha Stewart. I laughed so hard. I would not watch a show hosted by a person who thought Martha Stewart was some sort of role model. I was hoping Adam would make some jailhouse rock lobster sauce or something to commemorate Martha appearing on the show. Everyone is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too serious about this. The lesser of three emotionals would be Adam and some of his recipes actually sound really good. Go ADAM! Oh, and I also made the spock ears comment to my husband. This show is a HOOT!

Good point! TThen they kicked Shane off for likung French food and never living there! OMG! They really are all over the place. They say anything to make the show go the way they want it to....It is their show tho!

I agree with whomever wrote that Bobby doesn't like Adam. That makes sense that he would be future competition. That would suck massively if that were the reason Adam didn't win. In order to get through a show hosted by Lisa I would need dramamine or something. Watching and listening to her go at warp speed makes me queasy. Aaron's eating-disorder-disaster should have been cause for dismissal, I think.

Let's face it: this reality show has yet to discover the level of talent that can compete with the major hosts on Food Network. I don't think Bobby considers Adam a threat in the realm of barbecue because Adam is not even close to being in the same league. I think Bobby just dislikes Adam and that's it.

If Adam wins, six months from now he'll be the Food Network's Next Guy Fieri, shoving saucy hamburgers in his face in the back of some old diner in Terre Haute, Indiana and calling it a show.

None of them are worthy of having a show...they all sucked so bad that is why the panel kept them all..not because they were good, but rather they could not pick the best of the worst...let's move on with another show...whoever did the casting for this should be fired..I know people that are more talented and actually KNOW food..these chumps don't have a clue!!! They just get by with mediocre crap!!!

As someone with a learning disability I was relating to Lisa and that feeling of being back in school. I guess it’s good for you that you can’t relate.

And come on people…let’s not forget about editing.

Who would spend 30 minutes of their day watching Aaron, Lisa or any of these contestants? I am a loyal FN viewer and feel these have been below the bottom of the barrel contestants available. The FN should get someone with presence and knowledge who grabs and excites the viewers (See Guy for example). This contest should be started over with contestants with cooking chops and personalities that inspire.

The next time I hear someone use the word "chops" in any context other than describing a cut of meat I'm going to scream.

Lemme just say this. Any of the three contestants left will be better than Guy FeeIdiot. Guy makes me puke a little in my mouth every time I see his mug on tv. Especially those dumb TGIFridays ads. The intro to Guy's Big Bite is horrible.

Dear God...make him go away.

I agree with you! I voted for Reggie over Guy Farteddy.

It does seem like the FN is coddling Aaron. Lisa and Adam had Vegas segments that involved complicated multitasking (pulleys and choreography) while Aaron's multitasking involved walking and talking at the same time and then standing and throwing some dice. Sure he's likable but he is not comfortable in front of the camera. I won't even mention his "eating disorder" bit (ouch. awkward). He is a bit "mush mouthed". And what was Flay thinking with his impersonation of Aaron walking in Camden?? It's clear that the FN wants Aaron to be the street savvy guy from the 'hood, but it's also clear that he is uncomfortable in that role. I was rooting for him but was surprised when he wasn't let go, I mean THREE pasta dishes?!!!??

Also, FN, your sexism is showing. I wonder if they would've put the female contestant in the tight black outfit if she had a figure like Paula Dean's?? And Guy referring to Lisa as "Sunshine" was a bit demeaning.

I'll keep watching but hope the selection committee does a better job next year. I think they made a big mistake this year when they let Kelsey go. Sure she was a bit too chipper, but she was professional, good on camera and a pretty decent chef. Tushieface, you really dropped the ball on that one!!

Regardless of who wins. Food Network will make those episodes, run them and we will forget whoever wins.

None of them seem to have what it takes to pull off their own show. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be a requirment for a show on FN any longer.

I liked him too. I wonder if past contestants can even get another go at the prize. As far as Kelsey, they kept referring to her age (and Shane's), almost like they were just finding out. So what if she is young. And what'wrong with mentioning Culinary School. To me that gives her credibility and I really fail to see what Bob Tushman's problem with that was.
Gen- I totally agree with your comments as well. I'm not a fan of his at all. I acts like he is too cool and he is not.

I agree, the big mistake was letting Kelsey go.
That being said, I like Lisa and Aaron. Something about Adam rubs me the wrong way. He acts like the third grade class clown. And so he can smoke meat. Bravo. So can many other people. Out of his comfort zone, he doesn't do well. Aaron's intro to his buffet though..that was painful. So...I'm going to have to root for Lisa. Which is funny, since I didn't like her in the beginning.

Oh hell no please do not bring Reggie back - he did a cameo on Semi-Homemade a year or so ago and his sassy schtick was evem more unbearable then than it was during NFNS2. Guy was definitely the right winner of that final two.

I'll take Guy stuffing his face over Reggie's hyper drama queen routine any day. As an openly gay guy who DJs drag shows on occasion, I'm used to dealing with diva over the top drama, but Reggie is just...too...much...drama

They should all go, this is a poor excuse for cooking talent let alone someone to teach how to prepare food. I rather eat at McDonalds then any food prepared by these contestants

I doubt you will have a chance to try food prepared by these people. The competition is for a TV show not a restaurant.

people complaining that Adam doesn't do well outside of his comfort zone. So what? Giada isn't doing french food, Paula Dean doesn't do high end meals... Food Networks star's shows are based on their specialties....

anon 10:50 you are so right. much of these "challenges" are just plain silly. The contestants are required to emulate FN shows w/o the real advantages that go into making those shows real, in fact I would say that anyone who does mediocre is superior to the hosts of the actual show, because they are doing it solo and on the fly.

With the exception of Kelsy and Shane none of the other contestants can operate outside of their comfort zones.

I am baffled as to the selection committee not wanting to show Aaron the door after one bad week, but the week before they did it to Kelsy. Kelsy won some major challenges. She had her dish featured at a major restaurant chain and her, with Shane, had their recipes featured in Bon-a-petite magazine... yet the judges had no hesitation in showing her the exit.
The crap about her, or Shane, not being food authorities because they lacked real word inexperience might have some validity, except out of the entire bunch the two "youngins" were, in fact, the most knowledgeable. And in Kelsy's case she actually had the ability to not only convey her knowledge in an educational manner, she did it in an entertaining, engergenic manner.

It is beyond obvious that the selection committee wants Aaron. They have propped him up and passed him on after week after week of poor performances, does anyone else recall the episode where he had 90 seconds to describe a dish... we got 45 seconds of listening to him chew his food.

Bob T. and Sue want him on the air and that is fine they program and promote the network, but let's stop calling it a contest and start calling it what they want it to be...Aaron's training period.

Now you have two extremes in contestants for season 4. Lisa: Way too serious, trying too hard to be everything to be everybody. (Okay, she gets props for being human and shedding genuine tears after her mishap on the Coast Guard vessel/challenge.) Adam: Way too funny. He needs to spend some time with a professional like George Duran, who was with TFN for about three or four years...or, maybe, the Professor himself, Alton Brown. It didn't hurt the fourth place finisher on TNFNS2, Nathan Lyon. He has his own cooking show on Discovery Network's FitTV and he learned how to do it simply and multitask. Remember how Brown raked Lyon over the coals during the field piece exercise? He learned very well.

Adam's a cute guy, but in his promo, from a distance, he looked like Rowan Atkinson aka Mr. Bean. Oh, and while Lisa is a beautiful woman, she does look a little like Renee Zellweger when she smiles so much her eyes disappear. BTW, that's not a compliment!

Bobby Flay looks like an angry leprechaun, Lisa looks like a skinny Sandra Bullock, Adam looks like Tom Hanks in Big (the hair!), and Aaron looks like a drag queen without her makeup.

Adam at least isn't painful to watch. He is cute!

It's clear the "Selection Committee" chose their winner many weeks ago. Aaron will be the next FN Star. They have allowed him to continue on week after week despite average performance. I have watched as better efforts by Kelsey and Shane got them the door. Yet, here's Aaron going to the finals after his Vegas bust. This entire show is just entertainment and cannot be deemed as fair, honest or representative of true cooking talent.

TFN is a business and their only drive is to find on-air faces of mixed demographics to get them the ratings. Sadly, real cooking talent is only a secondary requirement to get the job.
