ADAM GERTLER WINS TOO... his own show
Adam Gertler is in L.A. shooting episodes of a new Food Network show Will Work For Food, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.
It's not a cooking show, per se. Gertler will show how people in the food business do their jobs. Among them: potato chip inspector, shark feeder and dog-food taste-tester. Gertler, an actor and former waiter at Amada in Old City, coowned The Smoked Joint, a short-lived barbecue restaurant at the Academy House in Center City.
According to the article, Will Work For Food premieres Sep. 30 at 9:30pm on Food Network.
No official word from Food Network, though.
UPDATE: Food Network confirms it's true.
"On The Next Food Network Star Adam exhibited a unique combination of quick wit, passion for food and an engaging personality," said Bob Tuschman, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production for Food Network. "He earned millions of fans across the country who have let us know that we have a second star in our midst. We feel this series is a perfect fit for his talents, letting him showcase his brand of humor while he works for food.”

That is cool to know. I liked his personality and think he will do great in this venue. Smart move on the part of FN... just hoping they pick up something with Lisa now. All three of those finalists had such specific and varied offerings for the channel, there really was no way to go wrong.
We watched McCargo this weekend and were relatively impressed with how much more at ease he appeared on camera. The show will take a little tweaking, but it was a nice first effort.
Good for him. I hope Lisa gets something too. Saw Aaron on the Neely's. Was not impressed.
Good for Adam... this series should suit him to a T. His humor should make the series fun and his food knowledge will help in asking the right questions.
Saw Aaron's new show this weekend. So much more at ease in front of the camera and his little boy is cute as a bug!
Good News ! I'll love watching Adam, I've aways liked him and am glad for Adam.
I missed Aaron's show, looking for the re-run soon...He's great to be in the kitchen with.
Well this is good news for Adam. I wondered if this might happen though because they certainly loved his personality! It seems like a kind of boring show though-but I will wait and watch before I judge!
I can see him being the Mike Rowe of the Food Network. I'm happy about this.
Now...where's Lisa's show?
Sounds like "Dirty Jobs," but food-related. Not surprised to hear it though, as Bob Tuschman all but came out and said that Lisa, Adam, and Kelsey were all getting shows in his blog entry from the finale:
I still think Adam has a unique star quality. Though a cooking show isn’t in the cards for him right now, another type of Food Network show definitely could be.
And who knows? Lisa (and Kelsey, too) both rightfully won a huge amount of fans. We do a lot of different types of programs here, both on-air and online. I wouldn’t rule out shows for any of them.
I am really glad to hear this about Adam. I think he is interesting to watch and humorous. I would agree though that a cooking show was probably not it. Maybe they need to make the NFNWS more a general search for a show idea than a cooking show.
I'm glad to read this and will check out his show. Adam was robbed when they allowed all three contestants to go to the finals.
Bob Tuschman asked if they should let go of Aaron, who had many good performances in the past, just because he had a bad night. Yes. I thought that's how the game was played? You win or lose based on your current performance. What's the point of the show if they are just going to shuffle their picks to the end?
Adam, on the other hand, struggled and managed to survive. He may not have been the greatest, but he played the game by the rules and seemed to pull through to the end. So I'm glad he got a show. This should have been the other way around though, Adam wins, Aaron gets a consolatory show. Lisa? Well she's just pretentious and annoying.
I really am happy for Adam!! I knew he had talent but not for cooking. The NFNS they were looking for was one that could cook so after Adam served raw food twice it would had looked awful if they had not given Aaron another chance when Aaron certainly did not serve raw food!
I just hope now those that don't like Aaron or his show will just not watch it instead of making such a fuss about it. I don't want those that love Aaron to not give Adam a chance simply because of Adam fans being so critical of Aaron.
I said before hearing this announcement that I would watch Adam for his humor, not cooking, so now it's happened for Adam and I will watch.
Nothing would make me watch a show with Lisa as mean as she was to the other contestants and as critical of them as she was!
Great to hear! Good for you Adam. I think this will be a better fit for him. A full on cooking show would have not done so well. However this out and about concept will be fun to watch.
wow. lisa fans must be pissed. they now have twice as many reasons to complain. aaron's show was fun and entertaining. i look forward to adam's new program, as well.
Good for Adam! He deserves a show of this type.
I'm a Lisa fan as well, and I'll be thrilled if she gets her own show. Its so interesting to me that people either love Lisa or hate her. I hope FN realizes that those that love her will watch religiously, and many of those that hate her will watch too so that they can make fun of and get angry at her. There will be huge ratings either way. Bill O'Reilly and FN's own Sandra Lee are great examples of this!
I AM SO THRILLED TO HEAR THIS! THE GUY IS A NATURAL. I AM SURE HE'LL DO A GREAT SHOW.
WONDERFUL!!!!
RR is even a better example. Sandra Lee is the only show that I absolutely cannot watch.
Maybe Kelsey and Shane can get a show too. I really liked those two.
This was a nice thing to read this morning. I hope Adam does well. I wonder who is the producer of this show, maybe Follow Productions.
I don't know how many of you are HGTV watchers, but in the same vane "Sparkle Josh" a "DesignStar Loser" is a judge on the "Summer Showdown"
BTW waiting for "The Addicts" take on Big Daddy.
That's the best news I've heard all day. Now, lets get something for Lisa!

Kill me now.
Adam's personality is overrated. But since he actually said on the show that he "has nothing to go back to -- no wife, no kids, no real job"... hell, good for him.
Good for Adam. This type of show will be the perfect fit for him...
adam can inspect my potato chip and feed my shark ANY day of the week.
tuschman needs to go suck a big one.
adam is annoying. he was annoying in the contest with his constant hamming it up and he will no doubt be annoying in this new boring show
tuschman is talking about.no wonder he has no wife kids or job....he is annoying.
he must be one of those you either love or hate em kinda guys and it figures the FN would choose someone will his personality to give a show to.
MORE annoying people to avoid on their channel. why don't they just rename it The Most Annoying Food Network??
Yay!!!! I guess I need to update my blog now. :)
Yay! for Adam! I think he's a cutie and he can pull of comedic moments well...except when they're painful!
I definitely think Adam and Kevin took the cake on the best looking guys on NFNS.
No one has mentioned that Lisa reminded Aaron when he forgot he was supposed to make a second dish during a competition. She might have handed him first right then without realizing it.
Where's Lisa's show?
Hopefully non-existent with no signs of developing in the near future.
You mean the chicken parmesan from the vegas throw-down challenge?I rember that.Lisa should of kept her opinions to herself then Aaron would of lost and gotten kicked off instead of kelsy and we would have Big daddy with us.
*wouldnt have
is there and edit function on the comments?
I cannot beleieve this!! Why not just give everyone on TNFNS a show?
*believe*
Good for Adam he certainly had the best pilot!
Why should Lisa get a show? In an video showing on this very blog,(the one where she basically insults Aaron) she says openly how she really never intended to win. She never wanted a show. So now not having a show should make her very happy!
Wasn't Bob T. who told one of the contestants that if you weren't a food authority you weren't on FN? Apparently he meant if you weren't an expert on smoking meats, melting cheese, and making unintentional sushi. This kind of seems like the FN giving Lisa the big FU. I hope she lands a show on another network, one that hasn't traded in its credibility.
i have a (very, very hopeful) feeling that lisa will get her own show, or something. maybe on FLN? there was a video interview with lisa posted on nancy nichols' (sp?) website, ''the sidedish'', in which lisa said ''..and you haven't seen the last of me!''. maybe she's in talks with a different network?
GAWWDD i hope so.
not too fond of that. to me thats like getting 2 fn stars not 1. out of the final like 5 he was my least fav...it kinda sounds like its not going to be that filling if you know what i mean very displaced...idk wat do u think jake
Good for Adam! So what will Liza say now: Adam needed a show more than I did?
This fake-diva-in-a-box will get a show when FN needs a contestant for a Personality Makeover competition. I am so over this contestant - the contestant that didn't want to go home a LOSER.
What's happening for Adam is Fabulous! Lot's of charisma. I'll watch for sure.
I think Aaron's show should have been titled after his warm presonality and big heart.
Please, please no lisa. Pure conceit with a touch of cooking. Not a chic accessory.
If anyone get's added to the netwrk schedule, it definitly should be Kelsey, she has the knowledge, personality and class
I'm happy for Adam. I think he'll do a great job. Looking forward to watching him.
I think that Jen should get her own show. She can show up and people houses when they are making an important meal and ruin it. Smash some glasses.Push people over, and have several meltdown because she is a single mother.
Good for this Gertler fellow. Bad for FN viewers that thought this was a real competiton.
What freakin joke this whole series has been. Bobby Flay has transformed into a class A wipe. Several other worthy competitors have had disillusional experiences.
Fogelberg and His Highness Tuschwipe are bestowing their yuckiness everywhere and think faithful viewers are buying into their scheming nonsense.
I'd love to kick Tuschman's ass around Chelsea Market for this. I am sure others would love to as well.
''I think that Jen should get her own show. She can show up and people houses when they are making an important meal and ruin it. Smash some glasses.Push people over, and have several meltdown because she is a single mother.''
LMAO.
Yeah Kelsey. "In Band Camp...." Oh I mean "In Culinary School...."
I want Shane to have a show. Heck give everybody a show. The new "Melting Pot"
adam: a little song a little dance a little seltzer in his pants...
A N N O Y I N G .....
so was his goody looking father in the audience also.
i think this schmuck must be an only child.....
What is the point of TNFNS if they end up giving the losers a show? Let's give all the "no-talent" cast-offs a show. FN is going to be great! (I say this in full sarcasm)
cast offs show
like a culinary gilligans island??
yes!
That's interesting - isn't this the first time that a Food Network runner-up has gotten a show? Lisa should probably get a show, too, no?
Yes, let's give all the losers a show! That means they'll find something for Rory Sore-Loser Horse-Teeth.
Fabulous! And it just goes to show that, sometimes, losing is better than winning!
I am glad Adam will have his own show. I like his upbeat personality. I wonder if "Ask Aida" was created before or after Adam's idea of involving the viewers via the internet?
So the FN will now have a show whereby Adam eats dog food? Wonder if he will put melted cheese and barbecue sauce on it first? It certainly sounds like this show will improve the FN's growing reputation in the culinary world. Bobby Flay must be proud...
So many points of views, so many opinions; we sure live in a interesting world.
I am sure the judges and every other producer was looking for other talents from the contestants other than just cooking. They found one with Adam!! I mean he is not going to have a cooking show so it's not exactly the same thing as giving the loser a show, too, in regards to what the contest was all about; cooking!
I love Adam's humor. Not impressed with his cooking. Nothing could impress me with that after he served raw food twice, but we live in a stressful world and humor is a great thing, so why would anyone be upset with that? I am beginning to think there is just a bunch of jealous people out there!!
It could work...Ham on the Street meets Unwrapped at the intersection of How Do They Do That? and Glutton for Punishment. I hope Adam doesn't lose his head.

Yeah for Adam. I was going to look him up in Philly! Bob must've found a good project for him.
Way to go, Adam! You were ALWAYS our STAR! Anticipating his personality on Food Network! He'll make me start watching the FN again!!!

Adam as the best of the three finalists and he should have won, and made the show his own. Aaron certainly knows food, progressed very well, and deserved to get a show BUT Adam's idea about the live internet chat seems to have been turned into Ask Aida. Lisa was annoying through the entire series. And while on the subject of annoying, that woman from last year (Amy?) was really horendous! Go, Adam! Have fun with your new program and be the next Guy Fieri! He is AWESOME!
Aaron, Adam and Lisa. All talented in their own right, but it's all about holding an audience for thirty minutes. Aaron seems to be a great guy, but he comes across to me as a bit too laid back... almost boring. Lisa toned down a bit during the contest run, but she still comes across as too aristocratic. Adam can hold the audience for a half hour. Sure, he can be goofy, but so's Guy. Not trying to compare the two... just making a point. Personally, I like the range of shows that FN has. So for those of you who think FN has "dumbed down," just don't watch the shows you don't like. Pretty simple.
As soon as I saw the ads for Ask Aida, I instantly remembered that that was Adam's idea. Maybe he got a show because FN "appropriated" his idea and now they are paying for that by giving him a show--maybe the new Adam show was cheaper payoff than the penalties idea theft? Hmmm, just wondering here.
You could tell that Adam was tons better than the finalists and should have won. The judges almost seemed to not like him personally because obviously he was the most audience friendly star they had. I wish him nothing but continued success.
I'm glad Adam got his own show. He definitely can hold his audience. His cooking has room for improvement compared to the other 2 finalist. I hope in the future, FN would give him an actual cooking show in the kitchen. As for Lisa, I find her VERY annoying to watch! She is very talented but she needs to work on her charms, which she has none! She is way too uptight, and the way she presents herself can come across to be very arrogant sometimes.
