Is Lisa Garza Getting a Show on CBS?

Everyone's favorite Diva from Dalls, Lisa Garza, is in New York this week for fashion week -- taking meetings, catering, and pretty much just doing what any self-respecting reality TV show contestant does upon the show's end: trying to stay relevant!

Lisa showed up at the Abiferrin show over the weekend and chatted with the peeps at I'm Not Obsessed, who are now confirming "that even though Lisa did not win the Food Network competition, she has snagged her very own show with CBS!"

Well, I emailed Lisa for confirmation. She let me know that she is indeed in New York taking meetings and catering events, but is still under contract with Food Network and "can't afford to screw it up" by giving me any details right now, unless cleared by the execs.

Soooo... I guess I'll email Food Network. Or just wait for things to be released.

I'm not really sure what kind of "show with CBS" Lisa would get. Something with CBS' syndication arm? A national show on CBS, like, after David Letterman? Somehow I doubt that.

I think Lisa and Sandra Lee should team up to create a superpower, superhuman decorating & cooking show!

[Thanks Irene for the tip!]

Ok, so you have a girl from Dallas who runs a successful restaurant and catering business along with her husband.

She pays her own freight from income from both venues and doesn't appear to be "sponsored" by Daddy or some income trust. She strives to make more money everyday and hasn't really asked for any handouts , so far.

She favors nice clothing and shoes and gives off an edgy connoisseur vibe.

She proved over umpteen episodes of some lame star search contest that she has the goods and would be successful in her own show doing something involving food.

So why in Gods name wouldn't CBS offer her a show ? Why the bewilderment ?

I guess it took a real network to realize real star power and while Tuschwipe & Co figure out how to snag more viewers of color by fastracking line cooks like Aaron McCargo, CBS are thankful they didn't commit to Lisa Garza.

Just get her to an opthamoligist and everything will be good.

I think the puzzle about Lisa having a show on CBS is, when would it air? If you look at the CBS schedule, they have very few spots for "lifestyle" shows. Their daytime schedule is full of soap operas, well known game shows like The Price is Right and big names like Dr. Phil - I doubt Lisa would pull in high enough numbers for them to cancel one of those high profile shows to put her in its place.

It seems more likely that CBS would give her a regular segment on one of their already existing talk shows (like The Early Show), or perhaps produce a show for another network. As part of Viacom, CBS produces shows for various cable networks.

I agree with Karen (above). Where would Lisa fit...late night?

what does she mean she is still under contract to FN?? how long of a stupid contract do they make people sign?
I figure, they don't choose YOU, you are FREE to live your own life......obviously not.
I can't stand FN anymore......
i wish lisa all the best........

Despite the ever-present squint, Lisa looks amazing.

There's not a single spot in the CBS daytime schedule to give Lisa a weekly, half-hour show? Surely there must be -- even if it's trapped on the weekend.

Alec Smart, were you watching the same TNFNS that I was? Up until the finale, Lisa stunk on-camera. Even then, she wasn't very good.

So, she's stylish and knows something about food, let's give her a show? Wrong.

WTG Lisa, you twit. Perfect network to be on considering all of their other "funny" sitcoms, reality shows, and crime dramas. Your show should fit right in on CBS, AKA the Constant BullShit Network.

No show for her.
It be like watching Denise Richards or Kimora . You can olny take so much.

Yes I was watching the same series Smartass.

I agree she wasn't prime time spit and polished, but compared to the field, she probably is the most moldable and would be up and running in short period of time.

You watch her Mr/Ms Neilsen expert. She will hit and stick somewhere and if it's with a real network, we will know she earned it honestly.

I would watch her show.

I think the person who said that she will probably end up with a segment on the CBS am shows is most likely right. Maybe that will lead to future opportunities.

Lisa should have won TNFNS. She was the superstar of that show and was robbed when they "gave" it to Big Daddy.

What a shame. But good for CBS and great for Lisa!

If I hear 'take a meeting' one more time I'm going to puke.

People who squint when they smile have genuine smiles. It didn't bother me. I liked her. A lot better than a certain FN Star who has a huge head and ridiculous smile that looks like she'd eat your head if it had a bit of prosciutto or parmesano reggiano on it.

I liked Lisa from the beginning, knowing she had quirks and craziness, just like all of the rest of them. It can't be denied that she knew food and entertaining better than all of the other contestants, but didn't win because she was inconsistent.

Nonetheless, I would be eager to watch her in food-related segments on a morning show. CBS's Early Show has been lagging in the ratings and she might attract some new viewers. They could syndicate her on a related cable station. With a REAL producer (other than Gordon Elliot, blech!) she has the potential of coming across very well.

I'm rooting for her!

Over haul the ego and maybe, But she's still way to full of it.

If she does have her own show, I'd probably watch it

Gee, I don't know...I'm just not seeing that Lisa Garza has enough of a personality to carry a show by herself. I know she's weird and intense and I truly believe she has crazy cooking skills and energy.

But cable ratings vs. network ratings are stratospheres apart, even on the most successful cable channels. The cost and production quality of any of the FN shows are pretty low. The idea that a national show on CBS would be given to Lisa without them taking a good long look at her in smaller roles, is a bit unrealistic. Since Emeril Lagasse does the cooking segments on that show and hasn't pulled them out of the basement.....eh, doubt Lisa would be a big pull to save that snoozefest.

Lisa wasn't supposed to be a polished entertainer. She along with the others was a chef/foody taken off the streets to possibly get a cooking show. Funny how you critics seem to forget the premise.

Lisa would do a great show. I hope she gets the opportunity. I am sure some smart business person will give it to her too.

I can't wait to see Lisa Garza on television. She's genuinely knowledgeable and if they let her decide the menu I'd love to learn something.

Maybe Lisa will do segments on the CBS morning show?

oh golly if they can put ''big daddy'' on tv making a fool of himself they can surely find a spot for this sincere and lovely gal!!

Why are all of these posts anonymous? Not my real name, of course, but at least you will know it is MY opinion and not the opinion of Lisa Garza - I just counted 17 Anonymous posts, of which 10 were positive, 4 were negative, and 2 mentioned the CBS Morning Show, plus weekend.

I think Lisa Garza posts here and that she will be on the CBS Morning Show on the weekends!

If Lisa was posting and she was going to be on CBS, as big as her ego is and her wanting to stick it to FN, she would let you know it was her.

Before CBS puts Lisa on National TV, they would use Stephanie from Top Chef or one of the winners from Project Runway.

Stephanie won. They would use a winner not a runner up.

Lisa has no personality. No women is going to get up early to see her. No ratings No Show.

Totally agree.
A show in the wee hours of the morning or no show at all better.

All the post are staged because there were TONS of negative posts about her when NFNS was on!

Lisa was never comfortable on camera. She always seemed forced and manic. I'd tune in just to watch the train wreck, though.

And, Lisa needs to quit posting on here.

You can't compare Top Chef winners with the NFNS contestants.

Top Chef is about the food, not an on-camera personality contest like NFNS.

She has to get her lies is order. She was always contradicting her self and keep her huge ego in check.

CBS Morning show has been in the basesment rating wise for years. This king of thinking explaines why.

I would be massively mega pissed if the Fuud Netwerk can gave McCargo his own show and started taping it while the NFNS competition was still on.

WTF is that all about ? Do these yo yos have any credibility or are they such amateurs they don't know or care ?

That little peckerhead Tuschman is probably pulling all the strings .I wonder if knows he made his network look like a freaking joke over this whole stupid affair.

Curly, Larry & Moe management at FN.

I hope Lisa goes on to another network and achieves huge success. She was gracious to hold her tongue so far, considering the bullshit the "losing" contestants were subjected to. Maybe once her commitments to FN are done she can clarify what exactly went on. Maybe Gertler threatened to sue so they gave him a show to hush him ?

What a absolute insult to viewers intelligence by fixing this contest.

I want my money back Tuschman, you jackass fool.

NO NO NO she should not team up with Sandra Lee. What is your obsession with Aunt Sandy? She's attractive enough but she is the worst. I like Lisa and they cannot ne compared. Boxed Mac and Cheese she used on Saturday and then I turned it off....

CBS...Lowest on the network spectrum....lol...uh, yeah, sign her.
She's all yours.

I'm glad Lisa is getting a chance on tv. And I'm not saying so because I'm Lisa Garza.
Some of you posters are crazy, no offense, so this is anonymous because I don't want hate comments on my blog.
Go Lisa.

And thank you Lisa for yet another comment.

So Sad. So sign of the times. The more snooty, the more likeable.

At 9/19/2008 3:38 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

If that was true, we'd be a nation of royal watchers instead of a nation of Paris watchers...

I am glad Lisa is (apparently) getting a shot at a show because she actually has knowledge about food that goes beyond barbecue ribs and mac and cheese. If that makes me a lover of snootiness, so be it.

At 9/19/2008 11:02 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's true.

At 9/21/2008 12:34 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

3:38 very odd. But then again this is why the country is in such bad shape.

Lisa is pure white trash, with no real cooking ability.

At 9/24/2008 2:23 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think Lisa may have cooking abilities. But, she does have an ego!

Let's do the math. CBS' "Eye Too" division co-produces TNFNS. She might land on Spike(she's pretty enough to be eye candy), or MTV(she seems like she's hip enough),
or VH1(way too hip, maybe).

Youse Guys iz nutz ! I think the combo of Lisa Garza with Sandra Lee would be nothing short of phenomenal !!! Pairing the Semi-Sweet with the Semi-Bitch would be a classic !!! Anyone who doubts Lisa's cooking credentials thinks Mickey D's is an evening out ?!

At 1/06/2009 11:33 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

CBS, huh? Maybe she is joining the cast at "CSI".

Seriously, I would love for her to have her own show. Heck, Adam is getting a show! She should get one, too. While we're at it, I'd like to see her be a challenger on "Iron Chef America" and beat Bobby Flay.
