Don't Forget -- New Giada and Ina Today!

October 18th has finally arrived!

New Giada at Home at 1:00pm ET
New Barefoot Contessa at 1:30 pm ET

And the worst part of it all? I'm on my way to New York right now and will be missing both shows! I have them set to tape, but it won't be the same.

Let me know how they both go down. I'll need a little preview before I'm able to catch them tomorrow.

I thought they were ok. Giada's show was very quiet. Ina's was good. I liked the idea of seeing someone else have to prepare the food too.

I thought Ina's was totally awesome - she seems even more warm and charismatic than before! I love her new relaxed attitude too and the format changes in the show.

Was weird to see Giada running around so much in what seems like a faster-paced show...was okay, liked it just about the same as Everyday Italian. Baby Jade is too cute though.

Got 'em all DVR'ed (while I was working). Can't wait -- Ina's is gonna be my special late-night treat.

I liked Ina's show even though there was no dessert. Giada's new kitchen rocks (the soft green tiles, the marble countertop, the sleek cabinets...wow!) but I really did not care for the block party segment. They should just call it a party and not a block party because there was less people than you would expect (the camera work did a clever job of hiding the fact that the crowd was small) and everyone was Giada's friend which made it less of a block party and more of "Giada's party with a select group of friends posing as neighbors." Or whatever.

Ina was very good as usual. Giada seems the same just different set. What about her making something with Marscapone. I love it but come on she needs to redefine herself. As always, We love Ina.

Both were great! It will take me a little bit to get used to Giada's new kitchen, as I liked whatever she was in before, but the new one isn't bad or anything.

I am liking Ina's "barn" more and more. Everything looks so nicely done, and obviously there's more space. Of course you will probably be able to tell us ALL about that barn here in a couple more weeks, hahaha! =)

I am excited to see what else we get from Ina in the coming months. I am definitely ready for some new episodes.

Hi Jacob!
Loved them both. These two are my favorite ladies on FN. Giada's new set was bright and lively and the food styling was great! Ina is always a pleasure. Both are very methodical cooks, that are informative and passionate. As a chef, they inspire ME to try new things in the kitchen. Enjoy your time in NYC!

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL BIG TEETH GIADA TO STOP MAKING EVER FUCKING SHOW WITH RECIPES INVOLVING MASCARPONE....!!!!!!!!!!! IS GETTING ANNOYING....

on the other hand....INA GARTEN IS THE BEST THING ON FN!!!!! 10 FOR HER NEW SHOW:)

I loved both shows very much ! I am drawn to people who don't screech , cackle and aren't loud and obnoxious . These shows are very elegant, tasteful and informative .

I thought both were really good. Giada's new kitchen was nice; even though it looked like it was from KraftMade. Ina's was the best! I just love her! I do wish though that they would bring back the old music from the original episodes. I didn't care for the new music. HEY! Tell her that for me will you! ;)

I don't like Ina's new (old) theme song. But the show was terrific (LOVE that TR, grrr! And the food was fab!). Giada's show was just all right, I'm not exactly on fire for her new kitchen, but she looks great.

I can't watch Ina- She puts me to sleep- But I did see Giada's new show- LOVED IT= I felt Giada was fun and a lot less stuffy and I loved being able to see her precious daughter- Great Job Giada!!! I also thought her KITCHEN ROCKED!!

At 10/19/2008 4:11 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

i LOVED Ina's show and love Giada but didn't enjoy her new show much.
also, WHY can't they let TR's "friend' he cooks for BE A GUY since he is gay??
I guess his lesbian friend was ok, tho....

I agree, give the mascarpone a break!

At 10/19/2008 11:51 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I also thought Giada seemed a little rushed in the middle. And then I thought she seemed a bit frantic at the block party. Maybe she was nervous!

Will Ina have someone else cook her food every episode?

At 10/19/2008 12:03 PM , Blogger Unknown said...

Loved Ina except for the new music.

Giada has a new set, but the same show. And she's wearing more eye makeup.

Ina's show. Very classy, good looking, I'll watch it anytime.

Giada's show. Get this woman off TV. She is starting to make me puke.

SNL ? Has this become the most unfunny show or what ? Take away the political impersonations and every other skit is absolute nonsense. FArtface skit with Josh Brolin. I'm sure some 10 yr old chuckled. 1 out of 10. Losers.

Good for Sarah Palin- rising above all the slamming last night!! And boy they did not hold back on her or McCain last night.... That is a strong woman! You go Girl ! And yes the rest of show SUCKED last night.

I was really disappointed in Ina's new show...anybody notice that the recipe for Mushrooms and the cream sauce were from her last series? I thought the pictures she kept taking were usless and silly...and as much as I love looking at TR, I don't want anyone but my dear Ina cooking for me!!!

At 10/19/2008 2:16 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sarah Palin is a hate-mongering numbskull that makes George " Dumbya " Bush look professorial ...

At 10/19/2008 2:53 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The jury is still out for me on Giada's new show. Didn't care for the new music much either and it seemed a bit rushed somehow, but I think the show will grow on me because I love her!!!

Giada's show was basically "Everyday Italian" with a few tweaks. I liked it well enough, but I was expecting something different.

Nice catch by a previous commenter that the "block party" wasn't much of one. Why force a theme like that? Why call it anything other than a party with friends? It lends to the fake, plastic-y rep that Giada is earning.

This is a matter of taste, but it bugs me during certain shows, Giada especially, when the cook's manicure is given more attention than the damn food. Get your hands in the bowl and get dirty, for pete's sake.

Enjoyed Ina's show. She was so relaxed and comfortable, and the whole bit about training the dreamy TR to cook the same recipe is a perfect touch. That food was very rich (sauce made with heavy cream and blue cheese, butter added to the steak) but it looked yummy.

She's such a breath of soothing calmness compared to the noisy, over-the-top, high-energy antics of the Neelys, Rachael, Paula, and Guy Fee-eddy (I have to scramble to hit the mute button when his shrieky promo for "Off the Hook" pops up.)

Giada's new show was like a breath of fresh air-- I for one liked her being a bit more normal and excited about what she is cooking. I enjoyed her show very very much... I want her Kitchen--- is that her real house?

At 10/19/2008 10:11 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I loved having new shows for both ladies.

I liked Giada's new kitchen, but as mentioned, she was not as relaxed and flowing there seemed be an urgency and she was rushed. I didn't understand the need to call it a block party when they live on the beach. It was all worth it though to get some shots of little Jade.

Loved Ina's new show. Very Ina - slow, relaxed, fun, informative and cute friends a plenty. I loved the old theme song, so I didn't see a reason to change it. Cannot wait for more new shows.

J

INA ROCKS. It's so obvious she's not tushmanized like Giada is. Don't get me wrong I love Giada's recipes but she doesn't "have it" any more. Now Ina is another story. She knows what she is doing and it's working dude. Ina is the best!

Yeah they're hot but the country isn't. But I wouldn't live any where else. But it is embarrassing.

IS that her real house? Too funny! Hello-----and Survivor is real? OK.

Ina's show was amazing. She is the best contessa ever! Calm, friendly and not fake. I like Giada too and brought her new book. (I have all her books) However, her block party isn't a party at all. It was with her friends! Another reason why she is fake! Don't like her set..cheap looking and it doesn't really represent the California's kitchen that she has been advertising. Fake, fake and fake...not going to buy her book in the future. She is superficial.

Love Ina. Just wonder what kind of "block" Giada lives on...

At 10/20/2008 10:37 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

You know Ina and Giada are both wealthy . But they aren't ostentatious and gaudy like Paula Deen is . Ms. Deen is like one of the Beverly Hillbillies who just struck oil and it all went to her head.

I hate to sound negative, but I was a little disappointed by Ina's new show - the content, not her or her manner, which I adore as usual.

I understand that it is back to basics, but I'm surprised that no one else here thought it was almost too basic? Does anyone really need to know how to grind peppercorns in a mill? The three recipes were almost too simple (ok, at least the steaks and the mushrooms, the onion rings were a little more complicated). I felt like this would be informative only for someone who has literally never cooked before. I love Ina, and am excited about the new season, but I hope that the shows become a little more substantive.

I thought Ina was amazing. And who doesn't love an episode with TR!?

Giada's show was spastic. All the multi-tasking and running around freaked me out. For some reason, I think that the size of the new kitchen or something is making her need to talk louder. Giada's not so cute when she screams like Rachael Ray.

At 10/20/2008 11:31 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

It was basic but I was surprised she didn't mention to remove the stems from the shitakes because they are tough and woody. I know. I watch to much FN.

That is giada's real house and real kitchen. Must be nice to live with a water view on the beach with also a beautiful lawn. SO LUCKY!

Some say it is NOT her real kitchen... and some say it is... Jacob do you know who is right...? Giada's real house or not? I am guessing it is a seperate kitchen she built for her show within her house... Kind of like "Bre" on Desperate Houswives did for her cooking show... Thoughts?

Can't remember which interview, but Giada recently stated that she would be filming "Giada at Home" on a set. Wonder where the outside scenes (by the pool, etc) are shot though?

that's really not a stupid question considering Paula Deen's show IS shot a her real home!

Ina's show was *fantastic* -- truly why I fell in love with her years ago -- informative, friendly, and excellent recipes/tips. She is *such* a flirt with TR!.

I concur what many others said on Giada's -- *way* too rushed. Made me nervous to watch it, especially after being lulled into blissful relaxation cooking with Ina. Can't wait for all the new Barefoot shows -- they are all going to be DVRed!

I really loved Giada's show. It was bright and sunny and fun. I thought it felt very California. Ina's show was great too, with more of an East Coast feel to it. I thought the food looked delicious on both shows and pretty easy to make.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought Giada's show was rushed and she seemed a bit loud and in a hurry running back and forth to the pantry and fridge. Too much like Rachael Ray. Ina was great!

Hmmm maybe she wants to be as popular as Rachael Ray !!! Smart girl!

Loved the band , loved the food, loved Giada's new kitchen. She finally seemed like she was enjoying herself. It's obvious that her friends adore her, she's so much fun and very sweet.

I'd like to be a friend on her new show too! And eat that great food and hang out with a cool band.

Yes that is Giada's real house, real kitchen, real pool and etc... The designer Fitzsimons Design + Build designed it and on his website he even says that she would be filming there. Also her bathrooms are supposedly going to appear in Kohler ads. Also I heard on a yahoo answer site that her house may also appear in food & Wine and/or Architectural Digest Magazine. It is located in Pacific Palisades, Ca. Also Giada did a segment on the today show right before she gave birth at her house in Ca with her husband where a nanny to the stars came over and it was the same house I can tell even though they didn't show the kitchen.
