Nigella's BBC Xmas Special Watched by 3 Million

WE WANT MORE NIGELLA LAWSON ON FOOD NETWORK USA!

I don't care that everything she makes has garlic oil and sausage, I just love her!

Luckily, ratings (which = money) talk. And Nigella's looking great on the ratings front. The first ep of her three part BBC2 Christmas special was watched by 3.6 million viewers! The only show on Food Network (US) that came close to that was the season 4 finale of The Next Food Network Star, which got about 4 million viewers.

UK's The Guardian points out that Nigella had a million more viewers than the BBC1 special "Panorama," which highlighted terror groups on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Hmm... Christmas cooking with Nigella or terror groups. Decisions, decisions!

Food Nework is full of obnoxious loud mouths. Every time I try to watch a show, that annoying show off called Guy Fieri pops on the screen. He does not fit in with the other stars in the Christmas shows. Last night I tried watching the Neeley's Christmas show. While I really would like to try some of the recipies, she is so loud. She could be heard over the entire group of people. At one point, one of her daughters looked embarrassed. I wisht they would be Nigella and Sara Moulton.

What Laua said.

Sarah Moulton knows tons about food and wine and she was so pleasant to watch. Nigella is not as knowledgeable but who the hell cares. She's got a brain, talent and she oozes charm.

MORE NIGELLA!!

I would love to see the ratings for Sandra's recent holiday special, just for comparison purposes.

I wish that Nigella was on more often. I don't understand why FN hasn't figured out that variety is what is best, not 4 episodes a day of one of Guy's shows.

I too miss Sara Moulton, she is knowledgeable and fun to watch. Remember many years ago when she would have guest chefs on the show and she had Mike Symon and his friend (can't remember his name) and the shows were hilarious.

I enjoyed the Neeley's special last night, however, Gina did get on my last nerve. It was ok during most of the show, but when they got to the living room scene when she gave Pat the golf clubs, she became soooooo annoying. It was embarrassing to watch and I think some of the family was embarrassed too.

they should just change their name to the Loud Annoying Sleazy Cacklin' Network and be done with it......

Paula Deen and her crazy ass sea captain husband probably spend most of their hours in their drawers, or possibly nude. They probably have to be hosed down by the neighbors while they make monkey love by the salt water marsh.

At least that's how I picture them.

Nigella is my favorite of all time! She wasn't cancelled by the food network...she only made a very small portion of shows and they bought all that were available. Hopefully the numbers she generated in London will reignite her, and she'll tape some more!! Nigella Feasts was actually taped during and right after her husbands death. It is amazing to watch the sries...you'd never know. She's so professional.

Although I respect Sarah's expertise I thought she was boring and just not a good teacher. Anyone heard how the Cooking Loft is doing? I only got to see one show but I did learn some.
The Neeleys seem like they're not being themselves. With Guy he was outgoing from the start (and his family holiday special was very funny and touching), but the Neeleys seem to come across fake. I don't want to write them off totally but I too had a hard time watching the full episode. Nigella helped me see the art in food. Think maybe the Neelys just need to get comfortable in front of the camera? I didn't like Alton at first but came to like him.

The interesting thing about Nigella is how empowering she is to the home cook. Don't have this? so what! Use this! How she teaches you to think in the kitchen...nothing has to be show stopping or perfect. Have fun and enjoy the total experience of creating something yummy to share with others. I learneed so much with her.

I watched all of Nigella's holiday specials (just have one more to see -- but it's on DVR).

I think often her recipes don't transfer well to America (Goose fat anyone?) but she is so damn charming that she is a joy to watch.

I, too, DVRed the Neelys Christmas. The hubby can be kinda cute, but I have to agree that the end party scene with Gina was way over the top for me. I even said outloud, "I don't think Ina would be hootin' during her party."

I LOVE her stuff - I'm so tired of the FN trying to make a character "mold" (as evidenced in the NFNS & new shows this year). I love that Nigella is sexy, funny, and real - and makes crazy decadent food! More delicious squidgy recipes!

Am I the only one who can't stand Nigella? She's a whore. She should have an X-rated show in which she has sex with cucumbers. Ick. I'd rather watch loudmouth Paula.

I heard she prefers to have sex with aubergines and courgettes, not cukes.

She is not a whore but pretty full of herself.
