I rarely check Jamie Deen's blog anymore, but maybe that'll change if his younger brother Bobby Deen continues to guest blog. I just subscribed to the RSS feed.
He may not be the best writer of his generation, but I'll take what I can get. Bobby indicates he'll be here in D.C. next week and then in South Beach for the Wine & Food Festival. Two chances for me to stalk him! Don't think I will, though.

Guess who………
Good morning everyone, Bobby here. I’ve hijacked Jamie’s computer.
I wanted to say thanks to all of the folks that enjoy our mom’s work, and that make the trek here to The Lady & Sons. In this economy, I’m moved by the people who drive or fly here everyday to visit our restaurant in hopes of catching a glimpse of our mom. It seem that every time I’m here at the restaurant, someone says “I drove _ miles to be here!” Just an example; A young couple (early twenties) I spoke with in the Paula Deen Store about two weeks ago, Had driven to Savannah from Minnesota to eat at our place. I chose their story because its fresh on my mind, but I hear that stuff all the time. Unbelievable! Our mother’s appeal is vast and covers the spectrum as far as people who can relate to, and love her. I’m very proud of that.
The Lady & Sons is running like a top, and we are gearing up for what we hope is a busy spring here in Savannah. I’m extremely proud of our staff, as they are responsible. Dustin Walls (our general manager) The kitchen managers (too many to mention here, but they know who they are) are doing an outstanding job managing this business. I think our health department score speaks for itself. (100) Proud of that too. Jamie and I will be in D.C. next week, then I’ll be in South Beach with my mom for the Food&Wine;Festival. Come see us if you can. Thank you all for your love and support, it is not lost on us.

I find it odd he would jump up and blurt out the "health dept score".
It's almost like he was being defensive. No mention of the quality of food. Hmmmm.. but "we scored a hundred with the health dept"...
Bobby's come on Jamie's blog a couple of times now, doesn't really say all that much. He is so private, he never shares what's going on like his brother. Even though he is in the closet, you would think he could come up with something interesting!!
I think that your expectations are far too high ... I'm amazed that the mouthbreather can write his name...
I for one am impressed with the health dept score at TL&S as that is very important to me and where I choose to eat. Some states aren't even required to display their score, mine is but GA may not be. I'm sure there are a lot of hardworking employees there who appreciated him sharing that info since his mother's restaurant reputation depends on them.
Bobby may not be the brightest to some but at least he took the time to write because I'm sure he'd rather not.

I’m just glad that I’m not related to the poor stupid white trash or anyone else like them who would drive all the way from Minnesota to see the Deens.
Punctuation aside (he must have skipped an English class or several), you have to at least give him credit for his genuine sincerity. At least he vocalizes his appreciation for the fans that have helped put the entire family where they are today -- on Easy Street.
Both he and Jamie seemed humbled by it all. I haven't heard or seen anything like that from Guy Fi-etti. As a matter of fact, I have read that he is completely full of himself and downright nasty to fans.

Well, for a technology that, to me, seems already past its prime, I guess it was all right. It was kind of long and not something I would just sit down and listen to for entertainment. I had it on while working on other things. I'll be interested to hear what else they have to say, since they pretty much covered all of their standard spiel in this first one.

If you're so keen on people coming out, then please do your part to fight the hate and bigotry (like Prop 8, or the Defense of Marriage Act, or Don't Ask Don't Tell) that makes people wary of coming out.

Good thing that she did get " her little boys " ( 21 & 18 ...not children as she always implies ) to work with her because with their very limited aptitude they would have ended up as manual laborers or used car salesmen ...
I've read about some of the stuff that Paula speaks about during a live performance including the defecation incident. Talk about crude and uncouth, not to mention disgusting!
And if you've read her memoirs then, like me, she must strike you as a very, VERY needy person -- hence the 10-year long affair with a married man that most 'non-needy' people would realize was NEVER going to leave his wife. Her neediness is also why she keeps her very grown-up 'boys' on a short leash.
As far as Bobby's seeming lack of education, you can put some of that at his feet for not taking the initiative but growing up with parents who were consumed with their own issues is probably where more of the fault lies.
Having said all that and knowing some of what his childhood was like, I think it's amazing that he turned out as nice as he publicly appears to be. And as far as 'coming out' - if he is indeed gay, would you want to if you thought your lifestyle might end up as part of your mother's stage act!
Yeah Mama Deen would definitely find a way to make money off of it and capitalize the situation to the MAX .

I wonder what Brooke (Jamie's wife) thinks of Paula? I also have noticed when she appeared on the Deen Family Vacation, there wasn't much of a connection between her and Bobby. It's almost like they don't interact at all.

I have to ask Anonymous, why is there so much bashing of Paula Deen and her sons?? If you and all the others do not like her then why do you watch her show or attend her "live" performances? This woman apparently made her money the honest way -- and so what if they are offering her money to put her name on products -- at least they are paying her!!!.
If people want to spend their money to travel across country to eat in her restaurants (so what!!!). Anon 3:50.... There is a lot of truth to what you say, however, many people attend Paula's live show thinking she is a sweet Southern older lady who has fame due to her cooking. The reality is, the show is nothing what was expected and proves she is not what her TV persona was showing. People express there disappointment on blogs like this.
As for her sons and other members of her family, Paula put there lives into the public eye when she wrote her memoir and talks about them in her live show. As for Bobby being gay, take a good look at him and you will begin to ask the question too.
To Anonymous 4:20 -- I understand that people have every right to express their disappointment with a "star", or dislike certain entertainers. I am responding to the "bashing" -- it went from "dislike" to "hate" in some of the comments. If I had attended this same "live" performance and she started out expressing comments like the one mentioned above -- I would have just left and that would have been the last time that I would have ever attended any of her shows. The name calling is not necessary.
As for Bobby -- who cares if he is gay or not!! How much money are you or anyone else going to get for making that proof? Would you stop attending one of his live performances or watching him on tv, if he announced he was or was not gay??? And, I used to love, love, love, LOOOOOOVE Paula but I can't only take small doses of seeing the new and over-the-top Paula.
It's really too bad that Paula has lowered herself to the persona that she is. Many people admire the way she turned her life around and made something of herself, but, now that she has made it is it really worth becoming the persona ( or revealing your true persona) that a Southern lady would never be. One can only imagine how embarrassing it is to her sons, but they must go along with it because as Jamie often has said, "Momma signs the checks"!!!

6:43 - My kids are teenagers - so no they don't think of Paula as a role model, nor do they watch Food Network. I don't idolize her or make yearly "treks" to her restaurant or rush out and buy her cookbooks and buy tickets to her "live" performances.
