First Day in Miami - South Beach Wine and Food Fest 2009
Sorry for the late update, but Internet was very spotty and my Twittering was greatly compromised when I wasn't able to post pics along with the Tweets via TwitterBerry. Any knowledgeable twitterers out there who might know what's wrong?
Anyhow, here's a pic of the first Food Network star I saw when I got down here, Sunny Anderson!
When I walked up to the hotel, she was surrounded by a group of people with cameras. I thought, "Oh, that's sweet. Fans are asking for pics." Well, actually it was just a group of people wanting Sunny to take their picture with their multiple cameras. Ha! She was very generous and took every one!
Not one minute after we sat down to catch up, a little girl and her mom came up and asked Sunny for a pic and autograph, though, so it all works out.
I had a pretty full day yesterday. For some reason this year, Friday was the more packed day in terms of parties, so it was a pretty late night for me... and many of the Food Network stars, I hear (and saw). Let's just hope they're all in tiptop shape for today's demos on the beach!
I'll have full posts on the events yesterday, but until then here's a quick recap:
* Ate at Emeril's before Bubble Q (kind of a mistake since I wasn't hungry at all later and there was so much great food)
* Went to Bubble Q and saw Guy Fieri surrounded by picture-hungry women.
* Ran into a very special lady at Bubble Q (video to follow)
* Went to Paula's Poker Night for a bit and saw Bobby Deen (couldn't chat with him, sadly... he was gone before I saw him again)
* Got kicked out a party that I managed to get into, but a reported from the Wall Street Journal couldn't. Think that's still a score for me!
More to come!

Your tweets were fun. Thanks for taking the time to do that.
Are the crowds down from last year ?
Appreciate your twitters! Some are rather cryptic, tho. "I love Susie Fogelson?" I mean, that's great. But why?
"Fieri surrounded by picture-hungry women" too funny! That happened to him at Superbowl too. You know, they say that he's a draw to the younger male crowd, but I totally don't see that. I think he has the 35 - 55 y.o. biker babe market locked down. *giggles*
Eager for more! And thx again for the updates!
Is the Playdoh company sponsoring an event so the Ace of Cakes crew have something to do ?
Or are they stressing this is a real food festival ?
jacob-no one will post! your material is boring- you better step it up. FYI no one is posting- when it is meaningless. I hope you get in some VIP events- we are pulling for you miami. Enjoy what ever happens-you are in FL in Feb UGLY. Hope you have time for the Oscars. Any favorites? Or anyone out there?..
What woman would be attracted to that fat tub of lard known as Guy Fieri?
Awe, Sunny seems so sweet and genuine!
Sounds like you are having a blast in Miami! And, yes, you are stealth - getting into a No-Press party :) KUDOS! Even if it was for just a hot minute it still counts.
I ran into Sunny in the Whole Foods Grand Tasting tent and she was so friendly and cool - she even tried my friends sample of Alligator!
Oh and did you see Guy Fieri rip his shirt off to reveal a Miami Heat Jersey at his demo on Sat? Weirdness...
lol I love that you got into the party, too bad you got kicked out. Sounds like you are having a good time.
"Are the crowds down from last year?" I'm not really sure about the smaller events (like the wine tastings and seminars) but the big ones like the grand tasting and paula's thing seem just as packed as ever. I think they may have reduced prices a bit this year.

"did you see Guy Fieri rip his shirt off to reveal a Miami Heat Jersey at his demo on Sat? Weirdness.."
Yuck... no. I was at Sandra's cocktail time party over at the Standard during his demo. Hope you got a pic of that, though.
4:25, "no one will post! your material is boring ...." - hey anon, then start your own blog! J's doin' a bang-up job.
4:35, "What woman would be attracted to that fat tub of lard ...." - Fieri has a tongue that reaches the bottom of his chin. 'nuff said.
(Oooo, I'm goin' to hell for that one. Laugh, everyone! It's a joke! lol)
Sunny. Ugh. Where are the real stars?
