Food Network Addict Mini Chat: Ingrid Hoffmann

While down in Miami, I was able to chat briefly with Ingrid Hoffmann, star of Food Network's Simply Delicioso. While she's probably not the biggest star on Food Network USA right now, Ingrid has a huge following down in Miami, naturally. After I saw the line for her book signing stretched down the beach, I knew I had to chat with this chica chica.

One of the funniest things Ingrid mentioned actually happened while onstage during Cat Cora's demo. Ingrid revealed the loving nickname she calls the feline-named Iron Chef...

Pussy Chica!

(Pussy, like "Cat" Ingrid told us.)

Backstage I congratulated Ingrid on her own demo. This year, Ingrid got to take a stab at the BIG tent where regulars like Paula Deen and Rachael Ray have all the seats filled and onlookers spilling into the wings. (Does a beach have "wings" if it's set up kind of like a theater?)

Turns out it wasn't the crowd that was intimidating to Ingrid, but the language barrier. I had forgotten that doing an English demo might be challenging for her since she seems to pull her Food Network show off just fine. But Ingrid really seemed interested in finding out if she seemed better than the previous year, if she was still able to engage the crowd, and if her jokes still worked. ;-)

Ingrid had to take off quickly after that and decide if she was going to attend Bobby Flay's Oscar party that night. It was great chatting with her. Hope to see her more often.

For some reason I don't really watch her show, but she does seem very fun and approchable. Glad you got to meet her. To bad that FN is pushing Guy down our throats. I'm sick of him and would watch more if they had less of him and more of say Ingrid, Ina and Ellie

I don't care for Ingrid's show but she seems like a cool person to hang out with. Cat and Ingrid=hot.

I miss Ellie. Does she have new shoes or is she on the way out?

Ina is the best. Made the sole menure(sp?)....delicious.

As a heterosexual male in the desired FN demographic let me say that Ingrid is the best looking female on the whole network. Yes, even hotter than Giada!! They are making a huge mistake not showing us more of her (and that can be taken two ways).

I have tried three of her recipes and all came out as desired. But most importantly she taught me not to be afraid to cook Latino dishes. They really can be both simple and delicious. And for that I am forever grateful.

I liked Ingrid but did not like the format of her show -- It was was over the top... I think they should tone it down and just let her cook great dishes and stop with all the hoopla- I think that is why I enjoyed Viva Daisy more - same type of cooking - less hoopla. Ya know? I heard Viva Daisy has been picked up- which makes me happy :)

I think you meant sole meuniere buddy.

I agree Ingrid is a total fox. I'd let her carmelize my onions anytime.

Agree we should see more of her as opposed to being forcefed the California Caveman, Fee-Dipstick.

I know I couldn't be the only one to notice this...

Pussy chica as a nickname for a lesbian?

WOW. lol.

Ingrid is a total hottie. More Ingrid, less Tater Tot...

Ingrid has more personality and spunk than Daisy. And quite frankly, better looking recipes.

I know she's Rach's girl but Daisy is boring and so are her recipes. I think Ingrid just needs a new format, a tweeking perhaps. She is quite easy on the eyes.

Has anyone heard if FN's still doing Michael Chiarello's sjow and Robin Miller's? You never hear about them anymore...they had good recipies.

I prefer Ingrid's original Spanish-language show, Delicioso, as it provides great recipes, but not all the over-the-top frentic energy. She explains things very well and is pleasant to watch.

I think you meant caramelize buddy (Alec).

I totally agree with you Charles. And you too Anon 1:42.

Ingrid and Giada no comparison. Giada isn't as hot too me any more since her head got so big. Well it's always been big but now she acts it.

Ingrid rules....

I tried to watch Daisy twice. Could not get through 10 minutes. Yawn.

If they change the format of Ingrid's show it would have real potential

I think could do either Anon 1:57 buddy .

How about you do the caramelizing and I can go to this site : http://homecooking.about.com/library/howto/htcarmonions.htm and we can all do a big circle jerk uh ?
Maybe Ingrid could join us in a group sous vide ?

Ingrid is very hot, very sexy, and probably the fn star I desire most.

Aida is more adorable than sexy but her show is incredibly stoopid and that dude on there is a total cb'er.

Carmel is a town in California, or a circumcised lamb. Caramel is another thing altogether, buddy. What’s with all the sophomoric sexual innuendos? Did I just walk into a bad Austin Powers movie?

I got a chance to chat with her and thought she was hilar when she ambushed Cat Cora's demo. She's really down to earth - and I think her show isn't that bad.

I don't know what ya'll are looking at, but Ingrid is not attractive in the slightest...and seems so fake and bored on her show. Maybe she's more fun in person...?

She tries so very hard to imitate the other hosts you mention (steals cleavage and lines from all of them)...maybe if she just tried to be herself, she would be more popular. Someone on this website even mentioned that her show was canceled...so it's probably too late for that.

If you read her bio carefully, it's her mother who is the real chef...which makes sense. Ingrid's recipes usually need tweaking...they hardly ever work correctly from her book.

I'm not so sure Daisy is the best replacement, but Food Network needs a new Chica!!!
