'5 Ingredient Fix' Claire Robinson's Sign Language
Claire Robinson is the host of Food Network's 5 Ingredient Fix, the show that sounds impressive at first (Wow, 5 ingredients in an entire meal?) but actually just features recipes that each contain 5 ingredients or fewer... and some ingredients don't even count as ingredients.
ANYhow, they've been promoting Claire's new season non-stop on these weekend morning blocks, with promos featuring Claire doing quite a lot of signing. Claire gives us 5 ingredients per recipe and no fewer than 5 different hand motions per sentence!
I wasn't that big a fan of Claire's first round of episodes. We'll see what happens in season 2. Excited?

Surprised to hear you weren't a fan. (I must have missed your review.) I like her, and I enjoyed most of the first round of episodes (missed a few of them.) She's likable and unpretentious. The food isn't going to change the course of the culinary arts but I found her refreshing.
Here's hoping she'll be able to avoid FN's inevitable pressure to warp into a caricature of herself in order to hawk more merch to more people. Plus, her dog is adorable.
I didn't know she was on. All I ever see when I turn on the network is Guy. Oh, and a promo for the Best Thing I Ever Ate featuring Danny Boome acting like he's performing felatio.
Benjamin: I just find her a little too abrasive. Maybe it's just me. But you're right, the dog is damn cute.
Dick: maybe Danny has experience? ;-)
Seems like FN really wants a new Rachael Ray. You can just tell, all of her mannerisms are designed after RR's. And while that type of person is apparently popualr with middle aged crones, it's not with me.
You know, she is very RR-like in her mannerisms and so forth. We'll have to see if that plays out in the new season. I haven't seen one commercial, either, though.
Had to laugh about Danny Boome's little fellatio act for "Best Thing I Ever Ate." No one saw the humor in that, I guess. Yeah, we get it. Danny's goofy! He's sooo wacky, blah, blah.
The fact that she's holding up ten fingers in two of those pictures just underlines how poorly defined the show concept is.
And I still hate her teeth.
And I also want to take her to have something done with her eyebrows.
I think she's adorable, a real breath of fresh air. Although she uses the word "amazing" way too often. Give her a chance to get her feet wet, will ya?
"Raspy" Ray does the same crap with the hands, as did Billy Mays. Its a cheesy salesmans tactic, you hold on to your wallet whenever you see too much hand action.
I just discovered Claire, watching some other spots on Food Network Canada. It seemed immediately obvious that FN was looking for another Rachael Ray but hotter.
I am not sure that she will be the new RR but hotter she is.
Claire Robinson, just go away. I don't know where she came from but I'm watching FNC and suddenly there she is, hosting the show, adding her inane comments in her stage whisper voice, and taking over the position of Keegan Gerhard who did an excellent job. Her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard just as Rachel Ray's is, and I don't find anything interesting about her. If I find her sitting in as a judge on Iron Chef also, that's it, I'll drop the Food Network from my cable lineup, A more annoying host cannot be found, can't she just go back to pretending to cook five ingredient meals?
I've been watching the FN for years and I like Claire. I like her recipes b/c they are not fussy and seem to be somewhat healthy. How far off can you go with only 5 ingredients unless it's all sugar and butter! Her themes each show are good and get my attention. Tomorrow I am making the turkey and canneloni bean recipe and will probably add the red pepper flakes for some heat. Hope I'm not disappointed. AJD
Wow! Way too many hand movements and who smiles the entire the entire time they are cooking??? Ridiculous and annoying.
