Food Network Star and Celebrity Chef... Who?

When you think of Food Network, does Juan-Carlos Cruz come to mind as a "Food Network star and celebrity chef"?

Well, that's what Duda Farms is hoping you'll think! JCC will be at the farm's booth at the 2009 PMA Fresh Summit International Convention and Exposition in Anaheim, California. They're promoting him as "Food Network star and celebrity chef Juan-Carlos Cruz... host of Food Network's Calorie Countdown [sic] and Weighing In."

Hey, Duda! Maybe if you want to go and falsely promote a a FORMER Food Network personality, who's shows haven't been on the air in years, it might be a good idea to actually use the right name of the once-aired show! Calorie Commando, people!

And what a show it was.

************************

I wrote about this last year after I got tired seeing Warren Brown and others referred to as Food Network hosts when promoting other, separate events. How long do you continue to "host" a show when it's only been in reruns (or not aired at all) for years?

So what about Mario Batali? Is he still a Food Network Star? It drives me crazy that he still shows up at the beginning of Iron Chef and he has not battled it 2 seasons. I think this is Food Network's doing not Mario's.

I agree with Lord. Food Network routinely exploit others everyday, so what the problem if Duda Farms exploits FN ? Pretty soon Duda and others are going to realize it ain't all that illustrious to be aligned with Food Network the way they are going. Can you say Kabuki Turd Circus ?

Poor Batali. I guess it would be too expensive to erase all images of Mario from Iron Chef, so I guess the next best thing is to never mention his name and pretend he did nothing to help build the Food Network right ?

Didn't this Cruz guy weigh 400 lbs at one point and lost it all ? I remember the show . It was pretty useless.

I love Mario Batali!!! but I am a little worried about his belly. Maybe Ellie Krieger should cook for him for awhile.

Wow, I haven't thought of this show in forever. I think it aired around 2003?
