Next Food Network Star (Season 6) Returns... from LA LA Land
It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Almost! Season 6 of The Next Food Network Star kicks off with a two hour premiere on Sun., June 6 at 9pm ET.
Some big changes are in store for the contestants this year. For the first time in the series' history, the majority of taping took place in Los Angeles—far, far away from the New York City Chelsea Market comforts of Food Network's home base, where every other season taped.
In a nod to West coast fashion, I'm guessing Bob Tuschman leaves an extra button unbuttoned on his blue shirt every week. Just watch and see!
Also,ice princess supreme established Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis will have what appears to be an increased presence this season as the Tim Gunn-like mentor of the bunch. Should be interesting, for sure.
The cast includes: Dzintra Dzenis (Austin, Texas), Doreen Fang (Los Angeles, Calif.), Alexis Hernandez (Clarksville, Ind.), Brianna Jenkins (Atlanta, Ga.), Aria Kagan (Hollywood, Fla.), Herb Mesa (Atlanta, Ga.), Serena Palumbo (New York, N.Y.), Tom Pizzica (San Francisco, Calif.), Aarti Sequeira (Los Angeles, Calif.), Darrell “DAS” Smith (Los Angeles, Calif.), Brad Sorenson (Austin, Texas) and Paul Young (Chicago, Ill.).

Absent this year will apparently be Ina Garten, who made her first appearance on the show in an episode last year. Those contestants have got to come to HER! Ina's not traveling to L.A. unless she catches wind of a good vanilla tree that only grows in Burbank.
Instead, we will be treated to appearances by Colbie Caillat, Eva Longoria Parker, and others.

What's with the skinny Debbie Lee lookalike? Didn't we get enough last season????
Oh goodie. Another meh season of people who probably think they can cook (but can't) and are about as exciting to watch as paint drying...
All of a sudden summer school looks like a day at Disney.
They moved it to LA just so they could get celebrities on the show. BORING!
wish they would get rid of sunny, noone wants to cook her chit and get an ass big as hers
Soooo...who's Korean but doesn't speak Korean and never learned to cook Korean but everything they make has a Korean flair to it?

I hate to jinx her, but skimming the bios I'd put Serena Palumbo as the early fave (unless the FN has a predetermined pick already to fill a demographic). She grew up in Italy and seems to have traveled quite a bit. She also already has an online instructional cooking show, which should mean she'll be able to handle the on-camera aspect of the job.
I thought that woman looked like Debbie "I'm not Korean" too!
Do you think they might bring in d'Arabian as a mentor , what with her 3 months of experience ? Sit her at the "culinary elite" table with the usual gang of interloping culinary elitists ?
Will Princess Pumpkinhead be an eye rolling bitch ? because she is such an expert herself ?
Will Flay be ready for his manssiere?
Will Sunny make the migration route up from Mexico ?
Will the Neelys get busted in a crackhouse sting operation ?

PULEASE - ANYTHING DIFFERENT FROM RERUNS OF IRON CHEF. SEND THE CHAIRMAN BACK TO JAPAN (along with his screaming, phony eye movements, flips and silk shirts, of course).

Has anyone noticed that the Alexis one of the chefs on the show for this season is not on the trailer video at all? And if you freeze the final 3-4 seconds he is not lined up with the rest of the contestants?
What's going on with this blog? Nothing new for 3 weeks.
