Buzz on Food Net's Eat the Clock
It's interesting how much press a little "Amazing Race-type show based on food" that I first told you about back in April gets once "competitive eating" gets added to the description.
The Hollywood Reporter, Perez Hilton, and more are all buzzing about the show that's now in casting in the LA area.
"Two teams of contestants rush to various Los Angeles eateries and gorge themselves in face-stuffing challenges."
Hmm... I like the Amazing Race side, not so sure about the gorging. I suppose the most shocking thing about the show will be seeing people actually eat in LA!
Will you watch people gorge?
UPDATE: Turns out the original description back in April is the more accurate one.
Food Network just contacted me to clarify:
[Eat the Clock] is not a competative eating show. [It] will feature two teams who will race through a variety of culinary hot spots and compete in challenges for the ultimate chowhound smack-down. Think "Amazing Race" meets the food world. For example, an episode might have them doing things like milking a goat, taste testing ice cream and decorating a wedding cake. So while they may eat in part of the episode, it will not be in a competative manner (like a hot dog eating contest, etc.).
Ahh... well that settles my tumtum. I'm still going to leave up my pic from Stand By Me, though.

Ick. No way.
No.
And people wonder why folks outside of the country think all Americans are fat, lazy, and stupid.
I agree with Gen - ick.
I think it's reprehensible and irresponsible to glorify gluttony while children and adults across the country and around the world starve!
Gross. He looks like he jut came out of the birth canal. I don't think my stomach can take this show.
I've never been interested in speed eating and food eating contests. It just glorifies gluttony and waste. But all of that aside, this is colossally clueless given the skyrocketing cost of food these days. Thanks, but no thanks, FN.
Thank God for no competitive eating on the show. I would NOT watch that. The rest of the show sounds somewhat entertaining, though.
Disqusting
The dumbing down intensifies .
And I wwonder whose idea the FN plagiarists thiefed this from. They can't think of stuff like this.
I'd say Tushwipe is waiting tables by October.
Food should be enjoyed and cherished not shoved down one's big pie hole!!
Ugh. I hate eating contests.
Another original idea from the Food Network brainiacs.
Ditto on everything everyone's said. This is going downhill just a bit, don't ya think?
Hmm, wonder why anyone would get the idea that Eat the Clock would involve competitive eating?? How about a new name for this pigfest?
