Read it Up: New Cookbooks by Food Network Stars

Several Food Network stars have books coming out soon. Just a friendly reminder: Oct. 18 is my birthday!

Let's check 'em out.

Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics: Fabulous Flavor from Simple Ingredients (Releases Oct. 28)

"Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics is the essential Ina Garten cookbook, focusing on the techniques behind her elegant food and easy entertaining style, and offering nearly a hundred brand-new recipes that will become trusted favorites."

I love staring at the pictures in Ina's cookbooks. Pretty pretty. But why is Ina's collar unpopped?!

Tyler Florence: Stirring the Pot (Releases Oct. 21)

"A hands-on guide to help readers fall in love with their kitchen again. Inspiration for home cooks to reach that 'light bulb moment.'”

According to Amazon, each recipe has a photo. Yay. Wouldn't it be great if he had even more books coming out, though?

He does.

Tyler Florence: Dinner at My Place (Releases Oct. 21)

"A peek into life at home with Tyler. He shares the dishes he likes to prepare for his family and friends when he's off the clock. The table of contents is organized by occasion, such as his son's first birthday party, a romantic meal for two, Christmas dinner for the whole Florence family, and a simple meal for a rainy Sunday afternoon."

Two books coming out on the same day? Tyler must be working hard. Maybe he'll be like Tupac and continue to release books years after his death! Who knows how that'll happen, but I'm sure someone's thinking of it (Rachael, perhaps?). Sorry for the morbidness.

Giada's Kitchen: New Italian Favorites (Releases Sep. 30)

"She’s taught us every facet of Italian cooking—from traditional and regional to seasonal and contemporary. She even made us fall in love with pasta again by opening us up to lighter, healthier versions that don’t weigh us down. Now the Food Network star and bestselling author of Everyday Pasta, Giada De Laurentiis, takes us down a new path, sharing her love of food with clean, vibrant, simple flavors and bursts of bright colors that look as beautiful on the plate as they are delicious."

Not really loving the photo choice for this book. She looks like she's just about to really smile. Maybe they deemed the natural large smile just too large for the book cover?

Any of them you plan on buying? Ones you'd only buy if you went to a book signing and got to meet the author?

I haven't heard anything about book tours yet, but I'll be sure to post any info I get if/when I receive it.

As far as commenting goes, I'm pretty lenient about most things. I make every effort to remove ones I find blatanly offensive or crude (especially if it's not even related to the post). But I'm not the comment police. Please read through them at your own risk. If a comment is still up that you find offensive, it's not that I don't necessarily feel the same way... I might just not have gotten to the computer yet. Or perhaps a lot of time has passed and I've forgotten.

I'm still out of town, so I might be a little slow getting to the "delete" button for a few days. Anyhow, hope everyone's enjoying their holiday weekend (if you live in the USA)!

Thanks Jacob about the mention of the crude comments by some bloggers. This site is so much fun and I love reading all the blogs, BUT when you come to the CRUDE LANGUAGE by some people it really spoils it. Anyway, great job and I won't stop reading. You just have to feel sorry for these people.

It does look like Giada is in mid-smile, but it is still a cute picture. I'm sure she probably appreciated the less-toothy photo. :P

Jacob, don't let your blog become boring and monotonous by just having " nice-nice " posts where all are in agreement . Differing opinions and touches of contention are interesting.A bunch of Food Network groupies offering non-stop praise is too politically correct , ingenuous and insincere .

I agree with anonymous 11:25 p.m. How boring.

And what crude language has been posted on this board? Is it the "Giada is a b*tch" comments? Big deal. Do you people live in the real world?

Tyler could lose a pound or twenty. He's less sexy than he was when he ran.

I'd let Giada give me a pickle wash if the opportunity presented itself.

I would need to drink a bottle of vodka to let Rachel Ray hum on my hoagie.

If someone gave me a 100 grand , I might be convinced to make love to Ina.

I would not buy any of their cookbooks though.

Tyler thinks he's "bigger" and more popular than he really is.

Giada looks very yummy in that photo. I'd eat her, but she can't talk back to me.

I'm amazed she isn't showing her cleavage for once!
