Guy Fieri Attends SNL, Not Tyler Florence

I got an email yesterday letting me know about Guy Fieri being spotted sitting next to William Shatner in the audience of the Saturday Night Live season premiere, hosted by Michael Phelps. I was at a wedding at the time and was bummed I had forgot to set it to tape. (More so because I was dying to see if Tina Fey would impersonate a certain someone, less so because of Guy).

So I was very confused this morning when I read an article saying that "you also noticed Food Network's Tyler Florence, who stars in commercials for Applebee's, sitting next to Shatner."

Now that my beloved Redlasso is fighting for its life (thanks to NBC and other networks!) and the fact that NBC has not put up the Michael Phelps monologue, I wasn't able to check for myself until now.

Take a look:

How was there any confusion?

As of right now, there is a YouTube video up... but we know how that goes. NBC is surely trolling the net looking to take down all unauthorized content from this episode.

The article has since been updated.

Even next to William Shatner, Guy Fieri is more annoying.

I HATE Guy and his shows.

I wish Tyler still looked like that...he needs to lose a pound or twenty.

ack.....

FN should take a real hard look at Jamie Oliver's show. Back to basics. Great close up food shots. Simple.
Glorious ingredients from the garden. Fresh. No big set, just a real kitchen....

This Hollywoodization of fieri, deen, ray, etc. is so alienating. It smacks of putting lipstick on a pig........

I'm sorry, Michael Phelps was awful on SNL. The reason his monologue wasn't posted is because it wasn't funny and he could barely read a teleprompter. Awful!

<3 for the Tina Fey take on Palin though!

And the lid twisting commercial parody.

I think Guy Fieri is asked to do way too much on behalf of the FN.

If you look at his work on DDD, he is actually quite gracious and seems to make good connections with most of the proprietors. We should be thankful FN provides coverage of this disappearing segment of our culinary scene.

When Fee'Eddy steps into other roles and is asked to become a puppet, this is when he starts alienating people.

Sigh. I heart Tyler. Such a hottie and so incredibly nice in person. And I make his meatloaf, pomodoro sauce and meatballs regularly and they are THE BEST!

the palin/hilary skit was the funniest thing SNL has done in years. funny but, sadly true. sarah palin is so, so dumb.

YEah the Palin sketch was awesome and Phelps sucked a big one and the only other semi-funny sketch that night was the last one with the waiter @ TGIF's and he was like, "ooooohh it smell like PEPPA up in here!" while he was playing with his twisties on his hat. That was pretty funny actually. Lil' Weezy kinda bombed too.

McCain/Palin 08! Suck it, haters!

If they win, we'll all be sucking it. Call me a hater? You bet your ass! There is no end to the depth and breadth of the hatred I feel for what you criminal conservative thugs have done to our country.

Now, Let's eat!

You Americans have strange way of a political system.

You elect the biggest clown in modern history TWICE,you spend billions on a lost cause in Iraq, give mortgages to people with combined incomes of $22,000 and think McCain or Palin might lead you out this darkness ? You people are very misguided.

You need to eat more falafels.

abdul, i couldn't agree with you more.

sadly, most americans consider "conservative republicans" to what we think of as family values, and the way things have always been done. we are very afraid of change. mccain/palin stand for the exact same things bush stands for, but since they have adopted barak's change slogan (though both of their records suggest change is the last thing that would come from their ticket in office), ever since they stole that slogan, terrified americans decided they can support them because they are SAYING they'll change washington, but secretly we all know they won't change a thing. republicans have never, and will never 1) decrease the federal budget 2) do squat about healthcare and 3) lower the average blue collar american's taxes. what they will do is continue to offer tax breaks for huge, monopolizing corporations, companies that run independent farms or businesses out of business. republicans will continue to subsidize corn, ensuring that less and less REAL food is grown in America, and the price of food will continue to rise as we depend more and more on imports. they'll also continue to support the big oil companies, and discourage the exploration of alternate fuels (remember the electric car? of course you don't, Big Oil killed it).

history doesn't lie. in years when the president is a democrat, the economy grows faster, inflation is lower, fewer people are unemployed, the federal government spends a smaller share of GDP, (whether or not you include defense spending) and the deficit is lower. it's not so much our political system that's strange, its the way we vote. half of americans will vote for sarah palin in november because she was seen wearing sweat pants the other day; because she's so "real." the issues just don't matter to most people, and politicians' records don't matter either. it's more depressing than you can imagine

How in Hades can someone confuse that nasti Guy with that hot, hunk of a man, Tyler?!?!? Seriously, is SNL going to confuse Paula with Giada next?

Abdul,

You're completely right. At least half of the people in this country are completely ignorant and child-like in their understanding of politics and world-affairs. That anyone can seriously consider McCain and Caribou Barbie to run this country just proves we're screwed.

If it's any consolation, I saw Tyler coming out of 30 Rock around 1:15 which means he was at SNL.

just out of curiosity, what makes anything having to do with politics "trash"? i realize not everyone wants to hear about politics (why i have no idea, it's kind of an important issue) but that doesn't make people who talk about it idiots, or the subject matter trash. even in the world of barefoot contessa and rachael ray, politics are important. if the subject happens to take a political turn away from eggplant parmesan, is it really the end of the world? do yourself a favor and do a little research on the candidates running for the most powerful position on the planet, you might learn something, and perhaps you won't come off as completely ignorant next time.
