Looking Forward to Alex Guarnaschelli's New Show - Oct. 18
I'm bummed I didn't run into Alex Guarnaschelli at all this past weekend in New York, but I'm slightly consoled by the fact that her new show Alex's Day Off premieres this Sunday, Oct. 18 at 9:30am ET.
Watching Alex on TV won't be as great as eating at her restaurant and meeting her like I did last year on my birthday, but it's a close second!
The first episode's description includes this line: [i]n an act of ridiculousness, Alex melts a wheel of cheese on a bed of crispy hash browns -- so we know that's gotta be good.
Looking forward to it, Alex!

Obviously, Alex is posing in the pic above with Aida Mollenkamp and Aaron McCargo Jr. I actually ran into Aida right when I got to New York and went to The Standard hotel where the festival's homebase was. We had chatted once by phone last year, but it was nice to say hi in person. And, let me say, she looks even more model-y in person. Almost didn't recognize her!
I saw Aaron later in the day working on his computer by himself, so I didn't speak with him. Later, on Saturday night, I saw him at the Duff Goldman-hosted "Sweet" event and saw an Aaron fan trip right over a giant lamp on the floor in an attempt to get a hug from Big Daddy himself. Aaron was nice and didn't laugh in the poor girl's face, but it was pretty funny.
Is it the weekend yet?

I won't be tuning in to watch her "new" show.
This woman has taken it upon herself to be such a nasty little vindictive figure, that her behaviour makes all "her" programs unpleasant to watch.
She just fishes around for critical things to say. It's obvious. It creates a real bad vibe, ultimately leading one to have nothing but contempt for her.
She does tone it down on ICA because I don't think she has the guts to diss an Iron Chef or a selected contender. Aside ICA doesn't need her contrived crap to boost ratings. They already have them.
Her performances on Chopped have people calling her the new culinary villain of the USA.
We have a plentitude of shitty reality shows these days.Watching her on any of them just conjures up ill feelings and a quick channel change. It's pretty disgusting.
Can you ask her how she arrived at her "new" shows name ? Did her wonder producer suggest it?
Food Network Canada airs a show called Chuck's Day Off, which debuted last season. Nice originality.

i have to agree with Alec, he has it correct, she is a bitch and her culinary "expertise" i will challenge...
she is not pleasant to talk to, she is ass ugly , she is a fat ass, and her personality it`s right up there with perezhilton, so i would not wish her to do bad, but one thing is certain , we all get what is coming to us..and she is not to far from collecting her share..
"Ass ugly"? "Fat ass"?
Damn, but people say terrible things from behind keyboards.
Personally, I think she is hot, and I think many roundish women are hot. Sure, she snarks when she is judging. Hell, Jeffrey Steingarten outweighs her snark by a ton and I never hear anyone joke about HIS fat ass.
I think Rick B. might need to get his eyes checked.
Or maybe since he has been incarcerated, any woman looks hot.
Steingarten snark is way different from the vitriol Guarnacschelli spews. Once you get your eyes checked, ask about your ears too, because obviously you don't listen very well to her.
i just finished watching it...i definitely wanted a piece of that bacon. does she always cook that over the top?

Incarcerated? Not just rude, but slanderous?
Jacob - please contact me about this.
Saw show. It looks like Alex uses more fat than Paula Dean, if that is possible.
Sadly that breakfast was so unrealistic, did anyone notice how long that it would have taken to make it. Start at 6 you might eat by noon. No points for looks. I wish I could eat bacon like that.
*ick B.
we all know that is you fat ass Alex writing as *ick B, U R not fooling any one...
"FAT ASS".. HOT ??? LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
roundish?LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
you are some sick old bastid..!!!
I totally agree with Alec's comment.
This Alex woman is insanely abrasive, gives really flakey, overly critical commentary and is pretty fugly-- reminds me of a pug.
I can't believe that Food Network would give her a show or that people would actually watch it.
This station's going down...
