Michael Symon Not Getting Equal Attention on FN.com

The reviews are mixed on Michael Symon's performance on Dinner: Impossible. (I find that cackle of his kind of charming, actually). While he's got an impressive new logo treatment and minisite for DI on FoodNetwork.com, Michael's presence on the site for Iron Chef America continues to be unbalanced.

Take a look:

His picture was Photoshopped in behind Mario, but his name still doesn't appear in the page's title (on top) or in the "About the Show" section. What gives?!

I seem to remember some controversy in the blog world shortly after Michael won his spot as the next Iron Chef. Namely, his picture and name wasn't on the ICA site. Quickly, Food Network popped his picture in... then it was gone again... then it came back (does anyone remember this?).

Luckily, Michael Symon lets us know he recently did nine battles for ICA's upcoming season, so there's no reason to worry about his status.

Still... shouldn't Symon get equal credit online?

UPDATE: Food Network has since updated the site, crediting Michael Symon. Yay!

I like him, I like the show but that cackle as you call it, is like finger nails dragging down a chalk board.

I want to like him, I am trying desperately to like him, but he is painful to watch. Between that constant cackle and just his general cockiness, he is really hard to take. I'm ok with him on ICA, but so far DI has been impossible to finish watching (and no, I wasn't a huge fan of his predecessor Irvine - though I do think he got the shaft - but the new announcer and format of the show just doesn't pull me in at all).

Watching that show is a hour of my life wasted. Symon was dry and boring beyond belief. I would rather chew a mouth full of corn starch then watch him again! RIP Dinner Impossible.

Well, I liked the show. I also think Micheal Symon is hot. He's just adorable. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know he's straight, but I gay guy can dream, can't he?

I think this is the fault of some lazy web developer that simply just hasn't gotten around to updating the text. Maybe you're the first person that's really noticed/cared. He's definitely incorporated into the show and since he still receives a paycheck for the show, I'm sure Michael Symon hasn't paid it much attention :-)

It looks like that arrow is coming right out of Mario's nose.

Like a good entree or side dish, Symon will need some seasoning. Give him some time...I'm sure Bobby Flay was a little flat when he started out. (Oh, and about TFN not offering a link for Symon...where's his name on your list of labels?)

"where's his name on your list of labels?)"

thanks for reminding me. my list doesn't automatically update for some reason (bug with the template I had designed). I'll add it now.

They totally just Photoshopped him in and didn't update the text. Where's they're web editor!? (Any openings?)

D'oh! I meant "their." Glass houses and all...

I know, they should take down Mario's name since they axed him, and put up Michael's! He's a sweetie!

I too love the cackle and would marry him in a minute. While I enjoyed Robert Irvine, I am looking forward to the new DI, for the eye candy at the very least!

haha, thats soo funny the way hes photoshoped in the group. Its so ovious that he dosnt belong and just...looks wrong.Bad chop job. But,hey,it would cost too much to have another photo shoot.mabey food network can scrape enough money from 'Road Tasted'.

the "new" dinner impossible will bomb so bad--- this will teach FN to toss aside one of the VERY FEW people on their network who can carry a show, Robert Irvine.

'Course they won't admit they were wrong and present a weekend getaway show with Symon.

It not only bombed....it is in the hole. I tried watching Michael and I about gagged. Who can stand this guy! He's an idiot. I watched the Iron Chef to where he became the Iron Chef and gagged then too.
I got really ticked off when I heard the story of Robert being kicked off and I say so what! I wrote the the FN, a letter about 2 pages long. I explained how our candidates for President were all "embellishing" their skills, stating they had experience. Bull. None of them have "real experience" unless you want to call being a wifey counts. But not in real life. So what they needed to do was have Robert apologize and carry on without all the hoopla. Sure he's an arrogant "sob" but at least he had the guts to step down when he had to on the show. He always thanked the "temporary" staff and graciously ended on a good note with them all.
So they killed my favorite show on FN. I guess I'll stop DVR'n the show and have to find another because I sure won't watch Symon. Maybe they will rethink the show when the ratings fall into the basement! Goodbye Robert, I'll miss you....let us know where we can find you....arrogance and all!

I dare ANYONE who is talking smack about Chef Symon to even try to attempt to cook what he makes...You are all a bunch of haters because you suck!! You don't know a good "seasoned" chef when you see it...most of you are just used to the crappy food that most Americans shove in thier mouth,.....table for 2 at TGI Fridays!!!

You people sure do fear change (I guess). Not only was Irvine boring -- he was a jerkoff. They had an episode of the show on tonight where he was being a total ass to his chefs and everyone around him -- it makes it so ironic watching it now knowing he was a fraud.

I seriously doubt "D:I" bombs. Someone having fun on it -- as opposed to Irvine's constant hissy fits -- is exactly what the show needs.

Both show's are typical FN competition shows,(meaning ordinary, mundane and dull, typical for FN) ICA is NO WHERE as entertaining as its japanese orginal, even with Morimoto in the mix. Its probably good that Mario is no longer on there, he's too talented for this nonsense,

If you want to watch "Iron Chef" go watch the ORIGINAL on Fine Living, its far and above still more fun and entertaining then this cheap FN knock-off.

And Poor Marc Dacascos, so good in films like Brotherhood of the Wolf, and here is trying not to look too bored with this gig.

John Tesh sure dodged that bullet when he didnt win that silly Iron Chef competiton

John TESH was in the IC competition now? Did he woo them with elevator music? ;-)

Hahaha!! I knew I shouldnt have done this too quickly I meant BESH OY!!!! Now you have me thinking and imagining Tesh and his piano playing music during ICA episodes!!! =)

Symon is such a wannabe. I mean his look is so contrived. tries too hard to be a cool chef, but sadly, he fails.

Has a fixation on using offal. He thinks this might be his signature, but in actuality, the stuff is disgustingly offensive and only poor people are meant to eat it. What's he trying to prove ? Go away you wannabe loser.

If coolness is something he is trying to attain with his look, he better try not to let that Hyena Cackle out when he is attempting coolness, it sort of wrecks the illusion =)

I am by trade a professional chef, and I have no hate for any of these FN personalities, Some I watch some I dont and most I laugh at., I love that word "hater" its so reality tv, lower class, flavor of love, sort of speak. Now as far as sucking eggs, what kind are you talking about? Duck, Chicken, Quail or Ostrich??? , Poached, fried, scrambled , sunny side up , raw or deviled?

He's not horrible, but I much prefer him on Iron Chef to Dinner Impossible. Robert is a hard act to follow tho. Im giving him a chance because he IS still kinda new to FN. All I know is if I dont like him, Ill just not watch the show..kinda like the other shows I dont like that I CHANGE THE CHANNEL when they are on..Pretty sure I wont just get pissed at how bad it is and comment all over the internet about it...lmao.

I have never cared for M. Symon, and his ego is even worse, but John Besh was no treat so it was a lose, lose proposition all around. I can't really say that I'm unhappy with his non-appearances on anything for FN.
